This paper presents our clinical experiences for reconstruction of the linear depressed postburn scar band by rhombus subcutaneous pedicle skin flap (RSPF). We report new RSPF, it's versatility, and effectiveness for correction of the mild to moderate linear depressed postburn scar band. To correct the postburn scar band, we have newly designed the Rhombus Subcutaneous Pedicle Skin Flap (RSPF), which is made as rhombus-shaped skin flap on the inside of scar band. After excision of burn scar band, the each vertex of RSPF flap is advanced into the skin defects at apex of extended skin incision, which is starting from the upper and lower portion of the removed burn scar band at a near right angle. This flap can add more extra skin to adjacent superior and inferior area of excised scar band. We have experienced 2 cases of RSPF for reconstruction of linear depressed postburn scar band deformities in lower extremity. After 3 weeks to 3 months postoperative follow ups, relatively satisfactory results were obtained in all cases. We had successfully reconstructed the linear depressed postburn scar postburn band of lower extremity using the rhombus subcutaneous pedicle skin flap. For the correction of mild to moderate sized linear depressed postburn scar band deformities in extremity, the RSPF is simple, and very effective without donor morbidity.
Purpose: PL, creatinine and urine output are biomarkers of the suitability and prognosis of fluid therapy in severe burn patients. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the usefulness of predicting mortality by biomarkers and its change during initial fluid therapy for severe burn patients. Methods: A retrograde review was performed on 733 patients from January 2014 to December 2018 who were admitted as severe burn patients to our burn intensive care unit (BICU). Plasma lactate, serum creatinine and urine output were measured at the time of admission to the BICU and after 48 hours. ABSI score, Hangang score, APACHEII, revised Baux index and TBSA were collected after admission. Results: 733 patients were enrolled. PL was the most useful indicators for predicting mortality in burn patients at the time of admission (AUC: 0.813) and after 48 hours (AUC: 0.698). On the other hand, mortality prediction from initial fluid therapy for 48 hours showed different results. Only creatinine showed statistical differences (P<0.05) in mortality prediction. But there were no statistical differences in mortality prediction with PL and UO (P>0.05). Conclusion: In this study, PL was most useful predictor among biomarkers for predicting mortality. Improvement in creatinine levels during the first 48 hours is associated with improved mortality. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve creatinine levels.

This paper presents the improved burn-in method for the reliability of SRAM in Multi Chip Package (MCP). Semiconductor reliability is commonly improved by the burn-in process. Reliability Problem is very significant in the MCP which includes over two chips in a package because the failure of one SRAM chip has a large influence on the yield and quality of the other chips such as Flash Memory, DRAM, etc. Therefore the quality of SRAM must be guaranteed. To improve the qualify of SRAM, we applied the improved wafer level burn-in process using multi cell selection method in addition to the previously used methods and it is found to be effective in detecting particular failures. Finally, with the composition of some kinds of methods, we achieved the high quality of SRAM in MCP.
Wound caused by high-tension electrical burns is difficult to manage because the wound is deep and complex. The wound is progressively necrotic due to microvascular injury resulting in deep tissue exposure. So, coverage of the wound at the entry point and the exit point is cumbersome, often requiring flap coverage. We experienced a case of one patient for peroneal artery perforator free flap coverage on the palm of the right hand of the entry point of electrical burn. The left foot wound of electrical exit point was covered by full thickness skin graft. Also a small wound was on the left side of the lower back was the exit point of electrical burn. The lower back wound was healed and recurred repeatedly after burn. On postburn day 6 month, through the radiologic exam, metal shadow was identified in the left gluteus muscle forming chronic sinus. We explored the wound of sinus and a foreign body was identified in the sac as multi braid wires thin as hair. According to the patient's past history, we suspected that the back wound was caused by electrical burn injury through the wires.
In abrupt fire disturbances, high quality images suitable for wildfire damage assessment can be difficult to acquire. Quantifying wildfire burn area and severity are essential measures for quick short-term disaster response and efficient long-term disaster restoration. Planetscope (PS) imagery offers 3 m spatial and daily temporal resolution, which can overcome the spatio-temporal resolution tradeoff of conventional satellites, albeit at the cost of spectral resolution. This study investigated the potential of augmenting PS imagery by integrating the spectral information from Sentinel-2 (S2) differenced Normalized Burn Ratio (dNBR) to PS differenced Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (dNDVI) using histogram matching, specifically for wildfire burn area and severity assessment of the Okgye wildfire which occurred on April 4th, 2019. Due to the difficulty in acquiring reference data, the results of the study were compared to the wildfire burn area reported by Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The burn area estimates from this study demonstrated that the histogram-matched (HM) PS dNDVI image produced more accurate burn area estimates and more descriptive burn severity intervals in contrast to conventional methods using S2. The HM PS dNDVI image returned an error of only 0.691% whereas the S2 dNDVI and dNBR images overestimated the wildfire burn area by 5.32% and 106%, respectively. These improvements using PS were largely due to the higher spatial resolution, allowing for the detection of sparsely distributed patches of land and narrow roads, which were indistinguishable using S2 dNBR. In addition, the integration of spectral information from S2 in the PS image resolved saturation effects in areas of low and high burn severity.

Purpose: Due to rapid changes in the industrial structure in last decade, the wider various types of chemical agents were introduced. Burn surgeons should be well-informed with rapid changes of chemical burns. We present the recent incidence trends of causing agents of chemical burns. Methods: From 2010 to 2019, 92 chemical burn victims were included in this study. A retrospective study was made about the type, distribution and incidence of the causing agents of chemical burns. Initial treatments of most chemical burn wounds are copious saline irrigation by tap water, except hydrofluoric acid burn cases managed by 10% calcium gluconate injection. In alkali chemical burns on extremity, if thin eschars appear in postburn 2~3 days, acute early surgical escharectomy and split thickness skin graft were done. Results: More than 9 types of major chemicals causing chemical burns were surveyed, and the most common causing agent of chemical burns was Hydrofluoric acid (23.9%) followed by Acetic acid (19.6%) and Sodium hydroxide (8.7%). Conclusion: From 2010 to 2019, changes in the causing agent of chemical burns are that the types of major causing agents of chemical burns have increased and the distribution and incidence of causing agents have changed compared to previous reports. According to this study, more than 9 types of major chemicals causing chemical burns were surveyed, and the most common causing agent of chemical burns was Hydrofluoric acid (23.9%) followed by Acetic acid, Sodium hydroxide.
Burn-in is an engineering method for screening out products containing reliability defects which would cause early failures in field operation. Previously, various burn-in models have been proposed mainly focused on the trade-off of shop repair cost and warranty cost ignoring manufacturing yield. From the view point of a manufacturer, however, burn-in decreases warranty cost at the expense of yield reduction. In this paper, we provide a general model quantifying a trade-off between product yield and reliability, in which any defect distribution from previous yield models can be used. A profit function is expressed in burn-in environments for determining an optimal burn-in time. Finally, the method is illustrated with gate oxide failures which is an important reliability concerns for VLSI CMOS circuits.

This paper discusses an optimal burn-in procedure to minimize total costs based on the assumption that the failure rate pattern follows a bimodal mixed Weibull distribution. The procedure will consider warranty period as a factor of the total expected burn-in cost. A cost model is formulated to find the optimal burn-in time that minimizes the expected burn-in cost. Conditional reliability for warranty period will be discussed. An illustrative example is included to show how to use the cost model in practice.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report that Korean Medicine treatment is effective in treating pain in burn patients. Results : We effectively reduced the pain that occurred after the end of the burn treatment through Korean Medicine such as multiple acupuncture, cupping, Sugi therapy, and external salve. VAS(Visual Analog Scale) values were reduced from 8 to 2 after about 23 days of treatment. Conclusions : This report shows that there was no special effect on dermatology treatment for pain that occurred after the end of treatment of burn patient, but it can also be excellent through Korean Medicine alone. It's only one case, so it cannot be determined that Korean Medicine for a burn is excellent. but if more excellent burn treatment of Korean Medicine is reported continuously, it will prove its validity. Therefore, it is hoped that more case reports and studies on burn treatments will be done in the future.

The grain burn-back analysis has been performed for the internal ballistics analysis code to be used for the optimal design of the space launch vehicles. The grain burn-back has been used to calculate the burning surface that is essential to the internal ballistics. The calculation of internal ballistics code used in the optimal design is repeated until satisfying the required performance through the change of the design parameter. Therefore, the burn-back method applied to the internal ballistics analysis should be easy to change the design parameter and calculation time should be short. In this study, a burn-back analysis code has been developed using the analysis method. Also, geometric parameters of the grain have been selected and organized. The developed code has been verified by comparison of results of a numerical method.
