This study investigated the influence of the viscoelastic property of slag when producing glass fiber, MFS631 with 60% of manganese slag, 30% of steel slag, and 10% of silica stone. To fabricate the MFS631 glass bulk, slag materials were placed in an alumina crucible, melted at $1,550^{\circ}C$ for 2 h, and then annealed at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. It was found that glass is non-crystalline through X-ray diffraction analysis. MFS631 fiber was produced at speed in the range of 100~300 rpm at $1,150^{\circ}C$. The loss modulus (G") and storage modulus (G') of the produced glass fiber were evaluated at high temperatures. G' and G" of MFS631 were greater than $893^{\circ}C$, and the modulus value was 136,860 pa. This is similar to the results of a general E-glass fiber graph. Therefore, it was concluded that its spinnability is similar to that of E-glass fiber; therefore, it can be commercialized.
A lead-free bulk ceramic having a chemical formula $Ba_{0.8}Ca_{0.2}(Ti_{0.8}Zr_{0.1}Ce_{0.1})O_3$ (further termed as BCTZCO) is synthesized using mixed oxide route. The structural, dielectric, impedance, and conductivity properties, as well as the modulus of the synthesized sample are discussed in the present work. Analysis of X-ray diffraction data obtained at room temperature reveals the existence of some impurity phases. The natural surface morphology shows close packing of grains with few voids. Attempts have been made to study the (a) effect of microstructures containing grains, grain boundaries, and electrodes on impedance and capacitive characteristics, (b) relationship between properties and crystal structure, and (c) nature of the relaxation mechanism of the prepared samples. The relationship between the structure and physical properties is established. The frequency and temperature dependence of the dielectric properties reveal that this complex system has a high dielectric constant and low tangent loss. An analysis of impedance and related parameters illuminates the contributions of grains. The activation energy is determined for only the high temperature region in the temperature dependent AC conductivity graph. Deviation from the Debye behavior is seen in the Nyquist plot at different temperatures. The relaxation mechanism and the electrical transport properties in the sample are investigated with the help of various spectroscopic (i.e., dielectric, modulus, and impedance) techniques. This lead free sample will serve as a base for device engineering.

An alternative design to conventional class II cavity preparation for proximal carious lesions is the tunnel preparation. It preserves the marginal ridge intact, thus making it possible to maintain the natural contact relationship with the adjacent tooth and minimize tooth reduction. This in vitro study was purposed to evaluate the effect of the materials' elastic constants and shear-bond strength on the marginal ridge fracture resistance of teeth restored by the tunnel technique, and to find the materials of choice for tunnel restorations. $Resinomer^{(R)}$, $Ketac-silver^{(R)}$, $Miracle-Mix^{(R)}$, and Tytin were used as restorative material. The elastic constants of each restorative material were evaluated by ultrasonic pulse measurement. Young's modulus and bulk modulus of the restorative materials were evaluated in three specimens for each material type. The shear-bond strength of the restorative materials to the dentin surface was measured after thermocycling 400 times between 6 and $60^{\circ}C$, using ten specimens for each material type. For measuring marginal ridge strength, 60 sound extracted molar teeth were distributed into six groups by size. Sound molar teeth were used as a Control group and unfilled prepared teeth were grouped as Unrestored. Another four groups were named Resinomer group, Ketac-Silver group, Miracle Mix group, and Tytin group by type of restorative material. Tunnel cavity preparation was done with ' 1/2, 2, and 4 round burs in sequence. Initial access to proximal surface was made through an occlusal access preparation started at least 2mm from the marginal ridge, and the proximal opening was formed about 2.5mm below the marginal ridge. After restoration and thermocycling, marginal ridge strength was measured using a universal testing machine. The results were as follows: 1. The Young's modulus of $Tytin^{(R)}$ was 63.95 GPa, followed by $Ketac-Silver^{(R)}$ 27.60 GPa, $Miracle-mix^{(R)}$ 18.48 GPa, and $Resinomer^{(R)}$ 10.74 GPa showing significant differences between the groups(P<0.05). The bulk modulus of the materials showed the same order as Young's modulus. The value of $Tytin^{(R)}$ showed 59.57 GPa indicating that it will deform less than other materials under the same stress. It was followed by $Ketac-Silver^{(R)}$ 23.57 GPa, Miracle $Mix^{(R)}$ 12.50 GPa, and $Resinomer^{(R)}$ 11.60 GPa. 2. The Resinomer group had a shear-bond strength of 7.41 MPa which was significantly higher than those of the Ketac-Silver group (1.80 MPa) and the Miracle Mix group (2.84 MPa) (P<0.01). All the specimens of Tytin group detatched from the dentin surface during thermocycling. 3. The mean marginal ridge strength of the Unrestored group(46.14 kgf) was significantly lower than that of the Control group (84.24 kgf) (P<0.01). The marginal ridge strength of teeth restored by the tunnel technique was, in order, Ketac-Silver group 74.06 kgf, Miracle Mix group 73.36 kgf, Resinomer group 63.47 kgf, and Tytin group 58.76 kgf. The Ketac-Silver, Miracle Mix, and Resinomer groups showed no significant difference with the Control group (P>0.05), but the Tytin group showed significantly lower strength compared to the Control group(P<0.05). The results showed that the marginal ridge strength of the teeth restored by the tunnel technique was not significantly lower than that of sound teeth. They also demonstrated that the bonding strength of the restorative material to the tooth surface should be high and the modulus of elasticity should not be lower than that of the tooth in order to restore the marginal ridge strength to its natural condition.
This study employed a 3-D numerical analysis based on the distinct element method to estimate the strength and deformability of a Cretaceous biotite granitic rock mass at Gijang, Busan, Korea. A workflow was proposed to evaluate the scale effect and the representative elementary volume (REV) of mechanical properties for fractured rock masses. Directional strength and deformability parameters such as block strength, deformation modulus, shear modulus, and bulk modulus were estimated for a discrete fracture network (DFN) in a cubic block the size of the REV. The size of the mechanical REV for fractured rock masses in the study area was determined to be a 15 m cube. The mean block strength and mean deformation modulus of the DFN cube block were found to be 52.8% and 57.7% of the intact rock's strength and Young's modulus, respectively. A constitutive model was derived for the study area that describes the linear-elastic and orthotropic mechanical behavior of the rock mass. The model is expected to help evaluate the stability of tunnels and underground spaces through equivalent continuum analysis.
Three kinds of specimen, consisting of the graded pyrophyllite particles alone, a substituent of 8 percent fire clay for the finer portion ($F_2$) of it, and 0.8 percent inorganic binder-added composite were prepared under the following conditions respectively; moisture content=4.5~5.0%, forming pressure=250kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and sintering temperature=1, 000~1, 30$0^{\circ}C$. The various properties such as modulus of rupture, apparent porosity, bulk specific gravity, pore size and pore distributiion were measured in order to collaborate with sintering phenomena. The results obtained are as follows: (1) Apparent porosity isgradually decreased with rising the sintering temperature to 1, 25$0^{\circ}C$. (2) The binder-added specimen showed the lowest value in porosity. (3) The optimum sintering temperature of specimens was considered to be 1, 25$0^{\circ}C$. (4) The wider differences between pore volumes of specimens could be obtained by method of mercurypenetration porosimeter than by the conventional method for porosity.

Equation of equilibrium is derived and solved for an infinite isotropic solid under applied hydrostatic stress which is uniform at large distance, and disturbed by a spherical precipitate which has isotropoc elastic constants dirrerent form those of the matrix. A linear strain hardening behavior of the matrix is assumed, and an elasto-plastic sloution is obtained. The difference of the total strain energy stored inthe infinite solid with and without a precipitate is computed, and compared with that for purely elastic case. Finally the effect of the ratio of the bulk modulus of the precipitate to that of the matrix and the effct of linear strain hardening rate on the plastic zone size and the energy difference are discussed.

This paper reports on theoretical study of the compression process within balanced type vane pump for Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering(EHPS). Equations fo camring profiles are derived, then displacements, velocities, accelerations, and jerks are calculated. Vane side leakages, vane slit leakages, and rotor side leakages are considered and calculated. Numerical integration of flow equation is performed using 4th Runge-Kutta method. As a result of analysis, it is found that chamber pressure depends on rotational speeds, bulk modulus of fluid, notches, camring profiles, and positions of delivery port. Especially, the variation of notch area is the most important factor that prevents pressure from rapid rising.

The characteristics of rubber cup seal is highly nonlinear due to the nature of the material's non-linearity and large deformation with frictional contact. And the performance of sealing in master cylinders of automobile is one of the most important factors which affects the safety of drivers. The effects of various shape of the primary cup seal in clutch master cylinder was investigated to reduce oil leakage and to obtain a long reliable life. Deformation and distribution of stresses on the primary cup seal against hydraulic oil pressure were analyzed with changing design parameters such as depth and radius in cup-seal. The obtained results indicate that the depth of cup seal plays a major role on deformation resulting in the sealing force to the wall of clutch master cylinder.

The embedded atom method based on the density functional theory is used for calculating ground state properties of realistic metal systems. In this paper, we had corrected constitutive formulae and parameters on the palladium for the purpose of doing Embedded Atom Method analysis. And then we have computed the properties of the palladium on the fundamental scale of the atomic structure. In result, simulated ground state properties, such as the lattice constant, elastics constants and the sublimation energy, show good agreement with Daw's simulation data and with experimental data.

This paper demonstrates that hybrid neural-genetic multimodel parameter estimation algorithm can be applied to structured system Identification of electro-hydraulic servo system. This algorithm are consist of a recurrent incremental credit assignment (ICRA) neural network and a genetic algorithm. The ICRA neural network evaluates each member of a generation of model and genetic algorithm produces new generation of model. We manufactured electro-hydraulic servo system and the hybrid neural-genetic multimodel parameter estimation algorithm is applied to the task to find the parameter values(mass, damping coefficient, bulk modulus, spring coefficient) which minimize total square error.
