For a quick and accurate 3D modelling of a building, laser scanning data, digital maps, aerial photographs and satellite images should be fusioned. Moreover, library establishment according to a standard structure of a building and effective texturing method are required in order to determine the structure of a building. In this study, we made a standard library by categorizing Korean village forms and presented a model that can predict a structure of a building from a shape of the roof on an aerial photo image. We made an ortho image using the high-definition digital image and considerable amount of ground scanning point cloud and mapped this image. These methods enabled a more quick and accurate building modelling.
Within the paper an approach for the automatic extraction and reconstruction of buildings in urban built-up areas base on fusion of high-resolution satellite image and LIDAR data is presented. The presented data fusion scheme is essentially motivated by the fact that image and range data are quite complementary. Raised urban objects are first segmented from the terrain surface in the LIDAR data by making use of the spectral signature derived from satellite image, afterwards building potential regions are initially detected in a hierarchical scheme. A novel 3D building reconstruction model is also presented based on the assumption that most buildings can be approximately decomposed into polyhedral patches. With the constraints of presented building model, 3D edges are used to generate the hypothesis and follow the verification processes and a subsequent logical processing of the primitive geometric patches leads to 3D reconstruction of buildings with good details of shape. The approach is applied on the test sites and shows a good performance, an evaluation is described as well in the paper.

The purpose of this study is to support the integration from current 2D drawing-based design to future 3D model-based design. In this paper, an important theme is the combination between the STEP-based 2D drawing standards (i.e., AP202) and the IFC-based 3D building model standards. To achieve the purpose, two methodologies are proposed as follows: the development of IFC extension model for the 2D shape data representation by harmonizing ISO/STEP AP202; and the development of mapping solution between IFC 2D extension model and KOSDIC by constructing the exchange scenario for 2D shape data representation. It is expected that the proposed IFC2X2 2D extension model and mapping solution will offer the basis of development of the integrated standards model in AEC industry.

Bromilow's time-cost (BTC) relationship was examined for building projects in Vietnam using actual construction time and total construction cost. Data set was collected from 77 historical building construction projects completed between 1999 and 2005 which were adjusted by consumer price index (CPI) to 2000 price. Time-cost equations were specified respected to two sectors, public and private, in Vietnamese construction industry and all cases. It is shown that a public funded building project has the longer construction duration than a similar budget private funded project. The resulting models are statistically significant. The adjusted R-square coefficients of all cases, public and private projects models are respectively 0.403, 0.436 and 0.377 mean that the BTC regression lines moderately fit the data set.

Recently, the necessity of rapid response to social problems such as disasters and quarantine arising from the complex and diverse social structures has emerged. As the number of large buildings increases, large-scale human damage is expected in the event of a disaster such as fire. To solve this problem, efficient control must be achieved through interfacing with various equipment and facilities installed inside the building. In this paper, we intend to study the interface method for various facilities in the building for efficient control. In detail, the facility standard model is defined by examining the status and specification of building. In addition, we intend to design and propose a standard facility communication data frame to support the protocol applicable to this model.

There is an increasing demand for prediction of asbestos concentration which has an fatal effect on human body. While demolishing asbestos, the dust scatters and makes workers be exposed to danger. Up to this date, however, factors that particularly influences have not considered in predicting asbestos concentration. Most of the studies could not quantify the distribution of asbestos. Also, they did not use nominal data on buildings as important factors. Therefore, this study aims to build an asbestos concentration prediction model by quantifying distribution of asbestos and using nominal data of buildings based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN). This model can give significant contribution of improving the safety of workers and be useful for finding effective ways to demolish asbestos in planning.

Submetering electricity consumption data enables more detail input of end use components, such as lighting, plug, HVAC, and occupancy in building energy modeling. However, such an modeling efforts and results are rarely tried and published in terms of the estimation accuracy of electricity demand. In this research, actual submetering data obtained from a university building is analyzed and provided for building energy modeling practice. As alternative modeling cases, conventional modeling method (Case-1), using reference schedule per building usage, and main metering data based modeling method (Case-2) are established. Detail efforts are added to derive prototypical schedules from the metered data by introducing variability index. The simulation results revealed that Case-1 showed the largest error as we can expect. And Case-2 showed comparative error relative to Case-3 in terms of total electricity estimation. But Case-2 showed about two times larger error in CV (RMSE) in lighting energy demand due to lack of End Use consumption information.

Modeling 3D buildings is an essential process to revive the real world into a computer. There are two ways to create a 3D building model. The first method is to use the building layer of 1:1000 digital maps based on high density point data gained from airborne laser surveying. The second method is to use LiDAR point data with digital images achieved with LiDAR. In this research we tested one sheet area of 1:1000 digital map with both methods to process a 3D building model. We have developed a process, analyzed quantitatively and evaluated the efficiency, accuracy, and reality. The resulted differed depending on the buildings shape. The first method was effective on simple buildings, and the second method was effective on complicated buildings. Also, we evaluated the accuracy of the produced model. Comparing the 3D building based on LiDAR data and digital image with digital maps, the horizontal accuracy was within ${\pm}50cm$. From the above we derived a conclusion that 3D building modeling is more effective when it is based on LiDAR data and digital maps. Using produced 3D building modeling data, we will be utilized as digital contents in various fields like 3D GIS, U-City, telematics, navigation, virtual reality and games etc.
Spatial data is becoming very important as a medium that connects various data produced in smart cities, digital twins, autonomous driving, smart construction, and other applications. In addition, the rapid construction and update of spatial information is becoming a hot topic to satisfy the diverse needs of consumers in this field. This study developed a software prototype that can match the position of an image-based 3D building model produced without Ground Control Points using existing spatial data. As a result of applying this software to the test area, the 3D building model produced based on the image and the existing spatial data show a high positional matching rate, so that it can be widely used in applications requiring the latest 3D spatial data.

For deciding the profitability and feasibility of the construction project, the schematic estimation has to not only link the design decision-making but also estimate the cost with reliability. The Object-based schematic estimation system was developed for easily linking with design-making and supports to evaluate the design alternatives in the design development stage but didn't consider the cost estimated by object supplementary and parameter work item. This research presents the Integrated Object-Parameter Schematic Estimation Model in the design development stage that can lead to more accurately estimate the cost through analyzing historical data from the high-storied office buildings. For the development of the proposed model for schematic estimation, after analyzing and classifying the work items from the Bills of Quantities(BOQs) and drawings of historical data, this research proposed the methods of estimating cost in accordance with attributes of each work item using regression analysis. In addition, a case study is performed for the effectiveness as comparing the proposed model with the previous estimating model.
