At the Bujang-ri Site, Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, around 220 archaeological features, including semi-subterranean houses and pits of Bronze Age and semi-subterranean houses, pits, and burials of Baekje period had been identified and investigated. In Particular, mound burials No. 5 of 13 of Baekje mound burials yielding a gilt-bronze cap along with other valuable artifacts drew international scholarly attention. The gilt-bronze cap from the mound burial No. 5 is a significant archaeological data not only in the study of Baekje archaeology but also in the study of international affairs and exchange at that time. At the time of exposure, the gilt-bronze cap was already broken into a number of pieces and seriously damaged by corrosion, and hardening and urethane foam were necessary in the process of collecting its pieces. Ahead of main conservational treatments on cap, X-ray photograph and CT(computerizes tomography) were taken in order to examine interior structure of the cap and to decide appropriate treatments. In the five layers identified in the profile of cap, a textile layer was set between a metal and a layerof bark of paper birch for avoiding direct contact of the metal and the bark of paper birch. Analyses were executed for examining textile layer and a layer of fibroid material. According to microscopic analysis, while the textile layer consisted of the simplest plain fabric with one fold among three kinds of textile structures, the layer of fibroid material was mixed with two or three kinds of fibers. A comparative analysis with standard sample using FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) announced that both textiles and fabrics were hemp. Analysis of kind of the paper birch resulted in barks of paper birch with 15 fold. A metallographic microscope, SEM, and WDS were used for the analysis of microscopic structures of plated metal pieces. While amalgam plating was treated as a plating method, the thickness of the plated layer, a barometer of plating technique, was ranged from $1.72{\mu}m$ to $8.67{\mu}m$. The degree of purity of gold (Au) used in plating was 98% in average, and less than 1% of silver (Ag) was included.

This paper confirms characteristics of lead isotopes of bronze artifacts excavated from Korea peninsula using 673 data classified according to Age, type and region. Lead isotopes data in Early iron ages are distributed in the southern Korean peninsula, but data in Joseon ages are concentrated in zone 3. Also Bronze artifacts excavated from Seoul, Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Jeolla and Gyeonsang are manufactured using raw materials of the entire Korea peninsula, but bronzes excavated from North Korea aren't produced using raw materials of Gyeonsang provinces. Lead isotopes data will be able to find moving routes of raw materials and to separate the period of mixing and recycling of lead.
This article is about restoring the wooden pagoda which located in Silsangsa Temple after historical research. The process of this study, first of all, the theoretical study was considered about similar examples of wooden pagoda and gilt-bronze pagoda in Gorye period and wooden pagoda in contemporary period. After that, the study was established by the present condition of Silsangsa wooden pagoda site, the characteristic of Silsangsa wooden pagoda, the form of arrangement, the scale and height. Finally, considering those studies, the wooden pagoda designed in detail. This restoring design tried to follow the inference in that time. Moreover, the design tried to involve the elements of characteristic of region and Silsangsa wooden pagoda. Therefore, the research establish period of Silsangsa wooden pagoda in Gorye period. Locally, it considered both elements of Silla and Baeckje. The arrange form of restoring wooden pagoda was freestyle arrangement that had two main building of a temple and one middle pagoda. The idea of structure was to establish of double Core system. This system inferred from the system of building structure in ancient wooden pagoda and middle and modern age of multistory wooden construction. According to measurement of foundation stone, the scale of restoring wooden pagoda followed the skill of Tang-scale. The connection structure of each floor followed laminated structure which was the general form of log frame in that time. After study of foundation's condition, the present writer deseeded to have restoring the wooden pagoda 9 stories tall. The final aim was to depend on the structural intuition of the present writer, the writer tried to restore beautiful wooden pagoda according to in those days which is solution for contradiction of unclear point. So, it could be make out a plane of restoring wooden pagoda.

Gonggeomji, located at the outlet of intermontane basin in the upper reaches of Dong River, is known as being constructed in the late Unified Silla Dynasty. Extensive wetlands were developed before the construction of embankment at Gonggeomji and very compact silty layers were deposited during dry seasons. Paniceae was cultivated on a dry field in the basin during the early Bronze and Iron Ages. Although it is supposed that agricultural activities on a paddy and dry field prevailed during the Three Kingdoms Age, the indicating layer was not found. As the construction of the embankment, Oryza sativa as well as Paniceae were cultivated in the basin at the same time. The climates during the early Bronze are cool and Iron Ages are estimated to be generally warm. From the late Unified Silla Dynasty and middle Goryeo Dynasty when the embankment was constructed, it was still warm, and then, shows alterations between cool and warm conditions. Since the late Goryeo Dynasty, it gradually became cool.
Owing to the energitic studies of the leading shcolars, some paradigmatic theories on the history of Korean dwellings have been suggested. They constructed periodization of their own and defined characteristics of each period with very limited historical materials. However the new historical materials have been discovered in the neighboring academic fields, which require to review the existing theories. This study aims at restructuring periodization in the history of Korean dwellings during the age of The prehistory and The ancient Kingdomes. Through the study, the existing theories on the same period are revived and evaluated based on the new materials. I suggest a new theory on the periodization and the characteristics of each period: a. the paleolithic period(6,000,000 B.P.-10,000 B.P.) : natural shelter, the emergence of man-made dwellings b. the neolithic period(10,000 B.P.-1,000 B.C.) : construction of pit house c. the bronze period(1,000 B.C.- 300 B.C.) : construction of semi-pit house d. the early metalic period(300 B.C. - 300 AD.) : construction of house on the ground level development of the Ondol system e. the ancient kingdomes period(300 AD - 700 AD): classification of housing type
The advent of the Internet and social media has given rise to a number of anti-milk articles that contain a lot of misinformation. Should milk and dairy products really not be consumed past a certain age? To answer this question, the history of milk consumption must be examined to understand the long-term benefits of milk. Historically, dairy products were among the foods served to the angels in the Old Testament of the Bible. Furthermore, dairy products were consumed even before the Bronze Age, and are defined by many food and animal scientists, and nutritionists as a complete food containing a lot of nutrients. Milk and dairy products have significantly contributed to the Korean and Japanese people's current body structures; this is evident in the fact that they are taller than their ancestors, primarily due to the increased consumption of milk and dairy products following industrialization. The average height of Koreans rose drastically in the 1960s, after milk consumption increased as a result of the dairy promotion policy. This article seeks to help understand milk by looking into the content published by a life insurance company in 1927.
The history and culture of using Zhu to help take food in China is a focal question in contemporary Chinese academic circle and leads to various conflicting ideas. This article, based on original historical documents, archaeological findings, cultural relic authentication, field investigation and the author's long-term thinking, comes up with a series of new conclusions. Firstly, Zhu emerged and developed along with cooked food and granular food served in bowls; secondly, there had been a period of using a single Zhu in China's history before two Zhus being used simultaneously; thirdly, the development of Zhu culture went through five historical periods, namely the former form, the interim form, the Jia form, the Zhu form and chopsticks form. In addition, the author gives out his unique viewpoints on some other relevant questions, including the Zhus which can be dated back to the Neolithic Age unearthed at Longqiuzhuang in Jiangsu province, Jiangzhai in Shanxi province etc, and the bronze utensils in the shape of Zhu unearthed in 1934 at Yin Dynasty ruins in Henan province.
Fibulae have been used as clothing fasteners throughout history. They were especially popular with the Celts, but were also used by the Greeks, Romans, Saxons, and Vikings, to name a few. The earliest examples are found in the Mediterranean and Middle East, and date from 800 B. C. and earlier. Their use continues today, in the form of the modern safety pin. The first fibulae of the Bronze Age were very simple, much like modern safety pins. The form of this small functional object varies from simple to extravagant since it is also seen as a piece of jewelry, and is thus subject to the evolution of style. Its size depends on the thick/Jess of the clothing to be attached. Its fabrication demonstrates a great mastery of metal work. Fibulae would vary with the taste and wealth of the wearer. The Fibulae were divided into 10 styles according to the shape, Fibulae with Safety pin shaped style, Penannular shaped style, Animal shaped style, Diamond shaped style, Radiated head shaped style, Horsefly shaped style, Arched bow shaped style, Fan-shaped style, Trumpet shaped style, Arched-fan shaped style.
Fifty ancient Korean coins originated in Choson dynasty have been determined for 9 elements such as Sn, Fe, As, Ag, Co, Sb, Ir, Ru and Ni by instrumental neutron activation analysis and for 3 elements such as Cu, Pb, and Zn by atomicalsorption spectrometry. Bronze coins originated in early days of the dynasty contain as major constituents Cu, Pb and Sn approximately in the ratio 90 : 4 : 3, where as, those in latter days contain in the ratio 7 : 2 : 0. Brass coins which had begun in 17century contain as major constituents Cu, Zn and Pb approximately in the ratio 7 : 1: 1. The multivariate date have been analyzed for the relation among elemental contents through the variance-covariance matrix. The data have been fur theranalyzed by a principal component mapping method. As the results training set of 8class have been chosen, based on the spread of sample points in an eigenvector plotand archaeolgical data such as age and the office of minting.
This study aims at examinating the change of architectural technique in the residential district of Seoktanri(石灘里), and then extracting the restorable types from it. The constructive technique was advanced in the composition of walls and the use of footing. The arrangement of columns was developed to standing them in a row and three rows in the center of interior space. In the light of excavated relics and the position of furnace, the interior space is seperated into cooking-heating, working and storing space. By the difference of height and the slope, the floor is divided into two parts which are low and high. According to the arrangement of column-holes, the types of roofs to be restored are as follows; the gable roof without column-hole, the hipped roof with center-column-holes(中央柱孔) in a row and the gable roof with center-column-holes in three rows.
