  • This paper proposed a method of feature parameter extraction for shape information analysis of moving object. In the 2-D plane, moving object are extracted by the difference method. Feature parameters of moving object are chosen area, perimeter, a/p ratio, vertex, x/y ratio. We changed brightness variation from the range of 600Lux to the 1400Lux and then determined Permissible Error range of feature parameter due to the brightness variation. So as to verify the validity of proposed method, experiment are performed with a toy car and it's results showed that decision error was less than 6%.

  • This paper presents a microcontroller-based control circuit for color variation of high brightness RGB LEDs in $8{\times}8$ matrix array. The control circuit is comprised of an AT89C52 chip, D Flip-flops, and transistors for switching, and is used to adjust the number of LEDs operated for color variation. For a stable operation, it is required that the input current to each LED should be maintained to a normal value irrespective of the number of LEDs operated.

  • We present the smoothness of mid-infrared sky brightness from the Japanese infrared astronomical satellite, AKARI observations. AKARI monitored the north ecliptic pole (NEP) during its cold phase with nine wavebands from 2.4 to 24 ${\mu}m$, out of which six mid-infrared bands are used in this study. Simple sinusoidal fit to the seasonal variation of the sky brightness shows that the mid-infrared brightness towards the NEP is not affected by small-scale features of the interplanetary dust cloud. We applied the power spectrum analysis to the images to search for the fluctuation of sky brightness. The fluctuation powers at 200 arcsecond are estimated to be at most $1.58{\pm}0.33\;nW\;m^{-2}sr^{-1}$ or 0.13% of the total brightness at $7{\mu}m$ and a tleast $0.64{\pm}0.11\;nW\;m^{-2}sr^{-1}$ or 0.02% at $18{\mu}m$. The residual fluctuations at a few arcminute scales at short mid-infrared wavelengths (7, 9, and 11 ${\mu}m$) are consistent with those expected from the diffuse galactic light. At long mid-infrared wavelengths (15, 18, and 24 ${\mu}m$) the measured fluctuations are comparable to or smaller than the one caused by photon noise and their sources are not identified. We conclude that the upper limit of the fluctuation in the zodiacal light is about 0.02% of the sky brightness.

  • Recently, due to the rapid development of multimedia technologies, as image data has been extensive and large-scaled, the problem of increasing the time needed to retrieve the desired image is gradually critical. Image retrieval system that allows users to quickly and accurately search for the desired image information has been researched for a long time. However, in the case of content-based image retrieval representative Color Histogram, Color Coherence Vectors (CCV), Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) used in sensitive to changes in brightness, rotation, there is a problem that can occur misrecognized division off the power. In this paper, in order to evaluate the video retrieval system proposed, no change in brightness, respectively 0°, 90°, 180°, 270° rotated brightness up based on the case of changing, when the brightness down the results were compared with the performance evaluation of the system is an average of about 2% to provide the difference in performance due to changes in brightness, color histogram is an average of about 12.5%, CCV is an average of about 12.25%, it appeared in the SIFT is an average of about 8.5%, Thus, the proposed system of the variation width of the smallest in average about 2%, was confirmed to be robust to changes in the brightness and rotation than the existing systems.

  • Color segmentation takes great attentions since a color is an effective and robust visual cue for characterizing one object from other objects. Color segmentation is, however, suffered from color variation induced from irregular illumination changes. This paper proposes a reliable color modeling approach in HSI (Hue-Saturation-Intensity) rotor space considering intensity information by adopting B-spline curve fitting to make a mathematical model for statistical characteristics of a color with respect to brightness. It is based on the fact that color distribution of a single-colored object is not invariant with respect to brightness variations even in HS (Hue-Saturation) plane. The proposed approach is applied for the segmentation of human skin areas successfully under various illumination conditions.

  • A phenomenon of electroluminescent radiate as electric field applied in the phosphor, in this paper, we produced the Powder Electroluminescent Device(PELD) which was changing the structure and the thickness of phosphor and insulator for realization of the PELD with high brightness. We made PELD with structure that is WK-1(ITO film/Phosphor/Insulator/Electrode), WK-2(ITO film/Phosphor/Insulator/Electro de), WK-3(ITO film/Phosphor/Insulator/Electrode), WK-4(ITO film/Phosphor+Insulator/ Electrode). The property of the produced PELD are analyzed by measuring the spectrum which electrical and optical property, the brightness and the transferred charge density. In this result, the structure of WK-4 have good luminescence property than others, it's effective thickness is 60${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. At 100V 400Hz, High brightness of 2700cd/m2 was performed.

  • We present an analysis of the soft X-ray emission of MRK 841 to investigate its long-term variation. The light variation of MRK 841 for three different energy bands of soft, medium, and hard values were studied. The maximum variability with a factor of 5 for about two years was confirmed at all three different bands. The light curves exhibit a gradual variation of brightness. In addition to a gradual variation, the short- term or micro variation was also confirmed with a factor of about two for all three different bands. The light variation of each band did not exhibit a correlation between them, but the flare event is strongest in the soft band. The hardness ratio for hard and soft bands shows irregular variation but there was no correlation between them. It was confirmed that there is a gradual decrease of the photon index. Results of our analysis are discussed within the framework of the accretion disk phenomenon.

  • This paper presents a hybrid recognition method, which is based on the nonlinear histogram equalization and the multidimensional intensity variation of an images. The nonlinear histogram equalization based on a adaptively modified function is applied to improve the quality by adjusting the brightness of the image. The multidimensional intensity variation by considering the a extent of 4-step changes in brightness between the adjacent pixels is also applied to reflect accurately the attributes of image. The statistical correlation that is measured by the normalized cross-correlation(NCC) coefficient, is applied to comprehensively measure the similarity between the images. The NCC is considered by the intensity variation of each 2-direction(x-axis and y-axis) image. The proposed method has been applied to the problem for recognizing the 50-face images of 40*40 pixels. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a superior recognition performances to the method without performing the histogram equalization, or the linear histogram equalization, respectively.

  • To investigate the deinkability according to the ink composition, deinking chemicals and aging time, newspaper was printed with different solvent types: 30% soy-based oil ink(A), 50% soy-based oil ink(B), 45% mineral oil ink(C) and 42% linseed oil ink(D). The newspapers were aged naturally for 15, 30, 90, 180 days, and were deinked with various deinking chemicals. The brightness of the deinked pulp of newspaper was affected by the ink composition, aging time and deinking chemicals, i.e., it was decreased with increasing aging time in the order of C, A, B and D. And the brightness also decreased in the order of lipase, cellulase and conventional chemical. The deinking yield showed the same tendency as the brightness variation at a given brightness. The strength of the deinked pulps increased until 30 days, but decreased or maintained after that time. And the strength decreased in the order of C, D, B and A, and also decreased in the order of lipase, conventional chemicals and cellulase.

  • A simple bispectral threshold technique which reflects the temporal and spatial characteristics of the analysis area has been developed to classify the cloud type and estimate the cloud cover from GMS/S-VISSR(Stretched Visible and Infrared Spin Scan Radiometer) imagery. In this research, we divided the analysis area into land and sea to consider their different optical properties and used the same time observation data to exclude the solar zenith angle effects included in the raw data. Statistical clear sky radiance(CSRs) was constructed using maximum brightness temperature and minimum albedo from the S-VISSR imagery data during consecutive two weeks. The CSR used in the cloud anaysis was updated on the daily basis by using CSRs, the standard deviation of CSRs and present raw data to reflect the daily variation of temperature. Thresholds were applied to classify the cloud type and estimate the cloud cover from GMS/S-VISST imagery. We used a different thresholds according to the earth surface type and the thresholds were enough to resolve the spatial variation of brightness temperature and the noise in raw data. To classify the ambiguous pixels, we used the time series of 2-D histogram and local standard deviation, and the results showed a little improvements. Visual comparisons among the present research results, KMA's manual analysis and observed sea level charts showed a good agreement in quality.
