Visual Evaluations of Clothing./ng Color Images for Cool Skin Color (찬피부색에 대한 의복색 이미지의 시각적 평가)

  • This paper is intended to help cool-skin-colored people to choose suitable clothing colors confidently and look well-dressed and to make positive self-images. A pseudo-experimental method has made it possible to analyze the visual evaluations of clothing color images for cool-skin-colored people and obtain the following results. 1. Reddish colors of vivid tone for doffing give positive images and those of dull and dark tone, negative ones. 2. Yellowish colors of vivid and bright tone for doffing show positive images and those of dull and dark tone, negative ones. Cool yellow of light tone proves to contribute to a well-looking image. 3. Warm green of vivid and deep tone, and cool green of vivid tone for clothing present positive images. 4. Warm blue of vivid and deep tone, and cool blue of vivid and bright lone make positive images. Either blue with dull tone gives a negative image. 5. Purple colors whose tone is vivid, deep and light contribute to positive images, and those of dull tone, negative ones.

A Differences in Preference and Evaluation on the Image of Make-up (Part II) -Focused on Perceiver's Age & Habitant- (화장색 이미지평가와 선호도 차이 (제2보) -지각자의 연령과 거주지를 중심으로-)

  • This study consists of the stimuli of a female model in her twenties with twenty-two different facial make-up. The subjects of this study are one thousand low hundred ninety seven purposive sampled-male and female grown-ups throughout the country. The period of the research was the December of 2004, one month, and the materials were analyzed by factor analysis, T-examination, analysis of variance, Cronbach's a, Duncan's Multiple Range Test. Here follows the result of the research. Firstly, Familiarity, Intelligence, Fitness, Charm, Tradition and Youth were came out as the result of factor analysis of make-up color image perception. Secondly, in age/lip color perception of bright skin tone, there was difference of Intelligence and Charm. In age/image make-up perception of bright skin tone, there was difference of Familiarity, Charm especially on Cool image make-up. Thirdly in habitant/lip color perception of dark skin tone, there was difference of Intelligence and Charm. In habitant/image make-up perception of bright skin tone, there was difference of Familiarity, Charm and of bright skin tone, Intelligence, Charm, Tradition and Youth. Fourthly, there were the interaction effects on the gender of perceivers and lip color and image make-up of perceivers habitant. Lastly, in preference rate, lip color was more affected by age and image make-up were more affected by perceivers habitant.

A Study on Color Preference of Children's Wear (아동복 색채선호에 대한 조사연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to survey the color preference of mothers for the clothing of their children whose clothing is usually chosen by their mothers. The survey was performed by showing 60 color samples to provide the useful data for the fashion color planning. The result of this study shows that the prefe-rences in hue and tone are different mainly by season. The most preferred colors are yellow for boys and pink for girls in spring white in summer-beige in fall and black in winter. The most preferred tones for boys are pale in spring and summer dull in fall and dark in winter For girls light tone is most preferred in spring and pale in summer bright in fall and dark in winter Analysis of tone preferences in 6 colors shows that bright and clear are commonly preferred tones for children's clothing. Pale light vivid tones of yellow green and blue are preferred for girls and boys. Dark purple is preferred in fall and winter while pale tone is preferred in spring and summer. Red is preferred for girls especially in pale bright vivid tones while dark grayish and deep tones are preferred for boys in fall and winter.

A Study on Color Preference of Children's Wear (아동복 색채선호에 대한 조사연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to survey the color preference of mothers for the clothing of their children whose clothing is usually chosen by their mothers. The survey was performed by showing 60 color samples to provide the fashion color planning. The result of this study shows that the prefe-rences in hue and tone are different mainly by season. The most preferred colors are yellow for boys and pink for girls in spring white in summer beige in fall and black in winter. The most preferred tones for boys are pale in spring and summer dull in fall and dark in winter. For girls light tone is most preferred in spring and pale in summer bright in fall and dark in winter. Analysis of tone preferences in 6 colors shows that bright and clear are commonly preferred tones for children's clothing. pale light vivid tones of yellow green and blue are preferred for girls and boys.   • The purpose of this study is to determine color preferences in housing spaces according to different types of personalities and color preference according to classifying dwellers various characteristics by MBTI to obtain basic information for the color plan that satisfies their desires. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, in terms of the color distribution of living spaces, for the ceiling and general walls, results showed that N (white) systems and YR of bright tones were mostly distributed. For the color of the floor, results showed that the calm tone of YR was mostly distributed. Secondly, for the favored colors of finishing materials in each space, the greatest distribution of preference color was found to be the N (white) group (series) in the case of ceilings, For general walls, the bright tone of the N (white) group was the most common in living rooms, and the bright tone of RP was used mostly in couples' rooms and girls' rooms. The bright tone of B and PB were found mostly in boys' bedrooms. In the case of the floor color, results showed the largest distribution was the calm tone of YR. For point walls, the preference was for various kinds of bright and brilliant colors. Thirdly, we could determine that extroverts (E) strongly disliked black and grey, while introverts (I) strongly disliked red as well as black and grey. Those who favored colors of closing materials were the sensible types (S) where colors were concentrated in common color groups. On the other hand, intuition types (N) preferred color groups of various kinds, not only the typically preferred colors.

A Study of the Image in Men's Hairstyle Depending on Hair Color and Texture (색채와 질감에 따른 남성 헤어스타일 이미지 연구)

  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the images in men's hairstyle by hair color, tone, texture, and perceiver's gender, and to examine the characteristics of hairstyle appropriate to seasons. A quasi-experimental method by questionnaire was used, and the experimental design was $4{\times}3{\times}2{\times}2$(hair color$\times$tone$\times$texture$\times$perceiver's$\times$gender) factorial design. The subjects were 372 men and women in their 20s through 50s. five factors of men's hairstyle image were derived by factor analysis: individuality, dignity, romanticism, refinement, and activity. Black hair was perceived to be high in dignity and activity. Bright tone was perceived to be high in individuality, but low in dignity. Men's wave hair was perceived to be higher in individuality than straight hair, but lower in dignity. Perceiver's gender did not give significant influence on evaluation of all image factors. In brown, neutral tone was perceived to be higher in dignity. romanticism, and activity than dark or bright tone. In black, wave hair was perceived to be more refined than straight hair. Black hair matches with winter the most, and yellow matches with spring the most. In terms of tone, dark tone matches with winter; neutral tone matches with autumn; bright tone matches with summer. The results of this study verified that hair color and texture affect men's image perception, and matching hair colors are associated with seasons.

Thirdly, as in favor of colors of closing materials, sensible types(S) are concentrated on common color groups, on the other hand, intuition types(N) prefer color groups of various kinds not only general preferred colors.

Yellow Image and Formative Properties in Modern Fashion (현대패션에 나타난 노랑의 조형성과 이미지)

  • The purpose of the study is to clarify yellow image and formative properties in modern fashion. For the study of formative properties 230 kinds of costume samples being visual power in yellow have been selected from photographs in fashion magazines and divided into tones: vivid(S, B, Dp), vague(L, Lgr, D), bright(Vp, P, B). For the study of image 30 kinds of costume samples is used. The Study was measured by using Semantic Differential method. The subjects were 50 students majoring in clothing and textile. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, ANOVA, MDS and regression analysis. The results of analysis are as follow: 1. Factor analysis has extracted 4 factors of yellow image in the fashion. These factor are Attractiveness, Cheerfulness, Hardness and Softness, Gorgeousness. 2. There were significant difference in visual evaluation of yellow tones. 3. Evaluative dimensions of yellow was classified as Soft-Hard, Gorgeous-Unpretentious. 4. The mage effect on Preference, Buying needs, Pleasant and Riches was consist of complicated sensibility.

Purple Image and Formative Properties in the Contemporary Fashion (현대(現代)패션에 나타난 Purple의 조형성(造形性)과 이미지)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate purple image and formative properties in contemporary fashion. For the study of formative properties 152 kinds of costume samples from photographs in fashion magazines. For the study of image 40 kinds of costume samples is used and divided into tones : pale(Vp, Lgr, L), bright(P, B), vivid(S, V, Dp), dark(Gr, Dl, Dgr, Dk). A total 24 pairs of abjective words were used to measure the semantic differential scale in this study. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, ANOVA, MDS and regression analysis. The results are as follows; 1. Factor analysis has extracted 5 factors which consist of purple image in contemporary fashion. The factors are high quality, hardness and softness, simplicity, temperature, maturity. 2. There were significant differences in visual evaluation of purple tones. 3. The discrimination among. 4 purple tones was related to weight of purple 4. The evaluative dimensions of purple image in modern fashion were identified by Light - Heavy and Pale - Strong. 5. The image effect on Preference, Buying needs, Pleasant and Riches was consist of complicated sensibility.

Improvement of Efficient Tone-Mapping Curve using Adaptive Depth Range Coefficient (적응적 깊이 영역 변수를 활용한 효율적인 톤 매핑 커브 개선)

  • The purpose of this work is to support a solution of optimizing TMO (tone mapping operator). JPEG XT Profile A and C utilize Erik Reinhard TMO that works well in most cases, however, detailed information of a scene is lost in some cases. Reinhard TMO only calculates its coefficient to have tone-mapping curve from log-average luminance, and this lead to lose details of bright and dark area of scenes in turn. Thus, this paper proposes an enhancement of the default TMO for JPEG XT Profile C to optimize tone-mapping curve. Main idea is that we divide tone mapping curve into several ranges, and set reasonable parameters for each range. By the experimental results, the proposed scheme shows and obtains better performance within a dark scene, compared to the default Reinhard TMO.
