  • Recently, there has been a trend designing a consistent and uniform regional identity in South Korean provinces as demonstrated by efforts in Chungcheongnam buk-Do. The motivating goals have been to establish an identity for local residents, provide voluntary services, achieve higher value-added business, introduce new management strategies, and establish a local brand through the exportation of local specialties. The by-products of these goals when accomplished include: maintaining a consistent policy, securing governmental economic efficiency of the province, characterizing local culture and improving quality of life. In this study, I tried to find out whether a local logo which is associated with a city plays a core role in the city's identity by comparing each symbol's shape, color and other components which are ways of expressing its meaning. In this respect, I analyzed the type of the Chungcheongnam buk-Do's symbol marks (30) and tried to suggest the desirable direction in developing symbol marks.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the phenomenon of 'play' in contemporary fashion creation from an interactive point of view and to analyze cases in the contemporary fashion design creation process. The research method was a combined literature review and a case study. As a result of the research, we have derived the creations of interactive fashion design from the viewpoint can be categorized as 'play as creativity', 'mimesis', and 'deviance'. First, creativity can be seen in DIY products, customized products, and clothing that reflects the consumer's way of wearing. By actively intervening in the products and expressing their creativity in the product, it can be considered as a DIY creation. Second, mimesis in the creation of a fashion design that occurs when consumers imitate the designs of the famous fashion designers. Often similarity and difference are generated, while sometimes objects are newly constructed. Third, deviance means that an item is reborn with a completely different intention from the original shape and function by the intervention of the 'hacker' consumer. For example, the logo and the design of a luxury brand are transformed to satirize its legitimacy. In this paper, we analyzed the cases of fashion design creation as an interactive play and investigated their characteristics and tendencies.

A total of 761 photos were initially collected, from which 561 were selected by the researcher. Expressive characteristics of graffiti in Moschino's collection were analyzed, and identified in the following categories: 'child-like playfulness', 'commercial satire', 'using daily elements', and 'borrowing non-representative techniques'. • Timelapse is an imaging technique that captures motion at regular intervals and then projects it at normal speed. We looked at Timelapse advertising images of global brands and presented a model for analyzing components and expression methods of Timelapse, a new image technique. In previous research, literature research, Internet data survey, and YouTube data were investigated. Continuous photography has been developed as an imaging technique, and we have examined the current production status applied to domestic and foreign documentary, domestic and foreign drama, film, and advertisement. In 2015-2016, I will analyze the techniques of iPhones (2016), Ralph Lauren Polo Ads (2015), and Canon EOS (2013) videos that use Timelapse techniques in their recent advertisements. The results show that the Timelapse component is a static element, the static motif is mainly an artificial structure, the place is outdoor, the color is taken at a time showing the characteristics of the place, and the layout is all centered. The dynamic motif is a moving object. The dynamic line consists of a story based on the object. The time is about 11-15 seconds, the longest is about 1 minute and 30 seconds, and the editing is mainly focused on the product with the brand logo emphasized. In conclusion, it is the role of the image to pay attention to the advertisement and catch the eye. In order to motivate the buyer's mind, it is necessary to direct and edit such as Timelapse, which stimulates the emotions inherent in the mind and stimulates the non-verbal symbols. Future research is likely to reveal various attempts at temporal editing of images.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop a prediction model for future smoking intention among Korean adolescents aged 13 to 15 in order to identify the high risk group exposed to future smoking. Methods: The data was collected from a total of 5940 students who participated in a self-administrated questionnaire of a cross-sectional school-based survey, the 2004 Korea Global Youth Tobacco Survey. Chi-square tests and logistic regression analyses were carried out to identify the relevant determinants associated with intentions of adolescents’ future smoking. Receiver Operation Characteristic (ROC) assessment was applied to evaluate the explanation level of the developed prediction model. Results: 8.4% of male and 7.2% of female participants show their intentions of future smoking. Among non-smoking adolescents; who have past smoking experience [odds ratio (OR) 2.73; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.92- 3.88]; who have intentions of smoking when close friends offer a cigarette (OR 31.47; 95% CI = 21.50 - 46.05); and who have friends that are mostly smokers (OR 5.27; 95% CI = 2.85 - 9.74) are more likely to be smokers in the future. The prediction model developed from this study consists of five determinants; past smoking experience; parents smoking status; friends smoking status; ownership of a product with a cigarette brand logo; and intentions of smoking from close friends’ cigarette offer. The area under the ROC curve was 0.8744 (95% CI=0.85 - 0.90) for current non-smokers. Conclusions: For efficiency, school-based smoking prevention programs need to be designed to target the high risk group exposed to future smoking through the prediction model developed by the study, instead of implementing the programs for all the students.
