  • The study analyzes those relations of customer service level of each sales branch, level of cooperations among branches, and overall system-wide service level for an item. Under the continuous review method, each sales branch places an order to the outside supplier, and the each branch receives the order quantity after elapsing a certain lead time. Under these circumstances, those branches with stockout condition may be supplied by other branches with keeping stocks to cover the shortages. This policy generally increases the system-wide customer service level for an item throughout cooperations for the safety plan among branches. Therefore, in the context of inventory policy, the decision rules to determine the proper branch levels of service and cooperation levels of service are important goals in terms of attaining desired system-wide service level. This research has suggested the method and procedure to reach above goals.

  • VLIW architecture capable of testing multiple conditions in a cycle must support an efficient mechanism for multi-way branches. This paper proposes a mechanism to speed up the execution of multi-way branches and an efficient memory packing method of instructions, which reduced the wasted memory space. Also, we develops a new compiler technique which can transform program segments that are not applied to multi-way branches into ones that are applied to multi-way branches. The benefits gained by the transformation are to reduce branch penalty and to increase instruction-level parallelism.

  • Taxonomic accounts are given to four species of Jania, Rhodophyta from Korea; J. adhaerens Lamouroux, J. nipponica (Yendo) Yendo, J. radiata (Yendo) Yendo and J. yenoshimensis (Yendo) Yendo. J. adhaerens is an epiphyte and characterized by massive tufts with decussate-dichotomous branches. J. nipponica growing on the rocks is different from other plants by erect tuft with low-angle dichotomous branches. J. radiata has a small epiphytic thallus (5 mm) and flat, flabellate-dichotomous branches. And J. yenoshimensis grows on the rocks in sublittoral regions and has compressed, fastigate, regular-dichotomous branches. This species is distinguished form others by the formation of slender moniliform branchlets. Among these, J. yenoshimensis is first reported in Korea in this study.

  • In this study, the modifications of the interior of bank branches that caused by the banking strategy, as well as customers' behavior, since the financial crisis in the late '90s, are investigated. By selecting and analysing the aspects of remodeling of twelve(12) branches in the Chung-Cheong area, the study finds a certain pattern in the changes as follows: 1) the area of counseling, including 'private banking' is increased while conventional customer service area is substantially decreased. 2) Combined with ATM, high-counter area is functionally separated from low-counter in order to provide more expeditious service. 3) Due to the lack of space of newly furnished 'quick' service area that is located near the entrance of the bank, entering / exiting possibly becomes agitating experience for customers. More accurate estimation of traffic, and appropriate space should be allocated in planning the area.

  • In this study, we attempted to estimate the discharge of the Amazon River branches from JERS-1/SAR images, which are independent of the weather. We visualized some traces of the Amazon River branches, transformed river shapes into a one-dimensional signal, and calculated the characteristics of the river shapes such as the meandering wavelength and the amplitude with Fourier and wavelet analysis. Then, we related the characteristics of the river shapes with the existing discharge data and derived some regression equations. Finally, we estimated the discharge of the Amazon River branches from the SAR images.

  • An experimental investigation was conducted to study two-phase flow distribution in a T-type distributor of slit fin-and-tube heat exchanger using R22. A comparison was made between the predictions by previously proposed tube-by-tube method and experimental data for the heat transfer rate of evaporator. Experiments were carried out under the conditions of saturation temperature of 5$^{\circ}C$ and mass flow rate varying from 0.6 to 1.2kg/min. The inlet air has dry bulb temperature of 27$^{\circ}C$, relative humidity of 50% and air velocity varying from 0.63 to 1.71㎧. Experiment show that air velocity increased by 85.2% is need for T-type distributor with four outlet branches than that of two outlet branches under the superheat of 5$^{\circ}C$, which resulted in air-side pressure drop increase of 130% for T-type distributor with four outlet branches as compared to two outlet branches.

  • In order to improve the conversion efficiency and mitigate the EMI problem of conventional hard-switching inverters, a new soft-switching DC-AC inverter with a compact structure and a low modulation complexity is proposed in this paper. In the proposed structure, resonant inductors are connected in series for the arm branches, and resonant capacitors are connected in parallel for the neutral point branches. With the help of resonant components, the proposed structure achieves zero-current switching on the arm branches and zero-voltage switching on the neutral point branches. When compared with state-of-art soft-switching topologies, the proposed topology does not need auxiliary switches. Moreover, the commutation algorithm to realize soft-switching can be easily implemented. In this paper, the principle of the resonant operation of the proposed soft-switching converter is presented and its performance is verified through simulation studies. The feasibility of the proposed inverter is evaluated experimentally with a 2.4-kW prototype.

  • Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is neuropathic pain that affects the trigeminal nerve branches. Facial pain experienced by patients with TN is typically intense and excruciating. The second and third branches (maxillary and mandibular) are commonly affected. This case report focuses on the potential treatment options for acute TN attacks involving these branches. The proposed approach involves extra-oral peripheral blocks using local anesthetics. Pain levels were measured using a visual numeric scale (VNS) with potential side effects and other relevant documented information. The patients showed responses from high pain levels to almost complete remission (from 8 to 2 and from 10 to 2 on the final VNS), with no significant side effects. This technique provides immediate pain relief and complements oral medications by offering comfort and confidence until the desired drug effect is achieved.
