  • The studies were intended to clarify the correlations between the characters and the influences upon yield of mulberry trees. The analysis of covariance was used to obtain the genotypic correlations and phenotypic correlations among the eight characters namely branch length, node number, branch diameter, branch number per stock, total branch weight, old branch weight, new shoot and leaf weight, etc., and path-coefficients were calculated by Dewey's method (5). The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Genotypic correlations were slightly higher than the corresponding phenotypic correlations between tile characters as shown in Table 1. It could be indicated that hight leaf yield was genetically correlated with almost all characters studied except branch diameter. 2. Leaf yield of mulberry trees was mainly associated with the characters such as node number per branch, total branch weight and old branch weight, etc. 3. Branch length, branch diameter, branch number per stock and new shoot weight had little direct influence upon yield but it had rather considerable indirect in fluence upon yield by increasing the node number and total branch weight per stock. As a result, it can be concluded that total branch weight is primarily determined by branch number per stock and old branch weight, and in turn the leaf yield of mulberry trees is secondary determined by the node number by increasing the branch diameter and length which are positively correlated with branch number per stock and new shoot weight of mulberry trees.

  • A variety of schemes were sought for a mitigation of thermal stratification phenomenon in the branch piping of domestic nuclear power plant. Several mechanisms of thermal stratification occurrence were introduced in this paper. A number of factors were selected to find out the schemes for thermal stratification mitigation and the computational analysis were performed. The length of vertical branch piping, the diameter, the radius of curvature of the elbow, the direction of connection between main piping and branch piping, the slope of branch piping, the leakage flow rate, the installation of additional valve, the change of the 1st valve position and another branch piping connected with branch piping were mentioned as factors in this paper.

  • Recently studies have shown that conditional branches can be accurately predicted by recording the path leading up to the branch. But path predictors are more complex and uncompatible with existing pattern branch predictors. In order to solve these problems, we propose a simple path branch predictor(SPBP) that hashes together two most recent branch instruction addresses. In addition, we propose a pattern/path hybrid branch predictor composed of the SPBP and existing pattern branch predictors. Through the trace-driven simulation of six benchmark programs, the performance improvement by the proposed pattern/path hybrid branch prediction is analysed and validated. The proposed predictor can improve the prediction accuracy from 94.21% to 95.03%.

  • Micro-resolution Particle Image Velocimetry(Micro-PIV) was used to measure the flow in a micro-branch(Micro-Bypass). In this paper, effects of particle lump at the tip of a Micro-branch and difficulties of Micro-PIV measurements for microfluidics with branch passage were described. Micro-bypass was composed of a straight channel(200(100)${\mu}$m width ${\times}$ 80${\mu}$m height) and two branches which has 100(50)${\mu}$m width ${\times}$ 80${\mu}$m height. One of branches was straight and the other was curved. Experiments were performed at three regions along streamwise direction(entrance, middle and exit of branch) and five planes along vertical direction (0, ${\pm}$10, ${\pm}$20 ${\mu}$m) for the range of Re=0.24, 1.2, 2.4. Numerical simulation was done to compare with the measurements and understand the effects of particle lump at the tip of branch. And another fluid(3% poly vinyl Alcohol aqueous solution) were adapted for this study, so there were no particle sticking. In this case, we could get velocity difference between straight and curved branches.

  • This paper describes the overvoltage at the branch line in underground distribution systems when the direct lightning surge strikes on conductor of overhead line. Distribution systems are very complex because it includes many branch lines, transformers, switches and so on. Therefore model system consists of overhead distribution lines, underground cable include branch lines, lightning source and switches. Analysis are performed using EMTP to understand and evaluate the surge behavior on branch lines considering various conditions in underground distribution systems. Simulation results show overvoltage with location in various cases. It is evaluated that result will be used to establish protection methods in actual underground distribution systems.

  • Nuts are essential components of a healthy diet as they provide nutritional value and bioactive components. Melatonin, is a hormone secreted from the pineal gland of the brain that prevents oxidative damage in various tissues, and also found in plants. This study presents a validation method for extracting and quantitatively analyzing melatonin in nuts, seeds, and beans in Gyeonggi-do; the method utilized chromatographic techniques and optimized extraction procedures, considering the high oil content of nuts. The average content of melatonin in nuts, seeds, and beans was 1200.83 (409.76-2223.56), 934.83 (454.10-1736.60), and 616.46 (494.70-825.12) pg/g, respectively. Melatonin content was higher in the kernel with pellicle than that in the kernel alone in walnuts and chestnuts. Furthermore, the presence of melatonin was lower in newly harvested walnuts, chestnuts, and peanuts than in those stored after being harvested the previous year.

  • Laminated Rectangular plates embedded in elastic foundations are used in many mechanical structures. This study presents an analytical approach for transverse bending analysis of an embedded symmetric laminated rectangular plate using Mindlin plate theory. The surrounding elastic medium is simulated using Pasternak foundation. Adopting the Mindlin plate theory, the governing equations are derived based on strain-displacement relation, energy method and Hamilton's principle. The exact analysis is performed for this case when all four ends are simply supported. The effects of the plate length, elastic medium and applied force on the plate transverse bending are shown. Results indicate that the maximum deflection of the laminated plate decreases when considering an elastic medium. In addition, the deflection of the laminated plate increases with increasing the plate width and length.

  • According to the properties of monoclinic materials, the normal and shear stresses are depending on both normal and shear strains. In the current investigation, the static analysis of monoclinic plates based on three dimensional elasticity theory is investigated. New governing equations and boundary conditions are derived for monoclinic plates and the Differential Quadrature Method (DQM) is used to solve the static problem. In our method of solution, no approximation is used and the DQM is adopted in all directions. By showing the differences between our results and the results for especially orthotropic plates, one can find that it is worth to investigate the monoclinic plates to have more accurate results.

  • Systematic study on relationship between celadon coloring and glaze component was conducted by chromaticity analysis and M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectroscopic analysis. The chromaticity ($L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ values) and M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer analysis results were correlated to the amount of $Fe_2O_3$, $TiO_2$, MnO, and $P_2O_5$, which are the essential factors influencing celadon coloring. According to chromaticity analysis, celadon glaze color belongs to GY group when the addition of $TiO_2$ was 1.4%, whereas the color belongs to BG group when the addition of $TiO_2$ was 0.1%. For the GY group, the colors change from GY to YR with the decrease of brightness as the addition of $TiO_2$, MnO, and $P_2O_5$ increases. According to M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer analysis results, as the amount of divalent iron ion increases, the $a^*$ and $b^*$ values decrease, on the other hand, $L^*$ value increases. The ratio of divalent iron ion produced in reductive sintering process is found to be 80~95% in this study, which induces the increase of $L^*$ values in celadon glaze.
