The this paper is describing about the electric field distribution due to the roughness in Aramid insulating paper for electric machine. The insulting and pressboard paper have been used at electric insulating of traction motor and generators. There was a change investigation of the electric field distribution according to the roughness of specimen by simulation program of Electro. We studied the electric field distribution using boundary element method for Aramid insulator. We find out an optimal condition in insulating paper of electric machine.
With increasing use of ceramics/metal bonded joints, It is required to analyze the residual stress distribution and stress singularity at an interface edge for its bonded joints. In this paper, the residual stress distribution and stress singularity index of the ceramics/metal bonded joints were analyzed by using 2-dimensional elastic boundary element method. The variations of residual stress distribution and stress singularity index are studied with changes for the combinations of ceramics/metal bodned joints.
We investigate a tansient diffusion approximation of queue size distribution in $M^{X}/G^{Y}/c$ system using the diffusion process with elementary return boundary. We choose an appropriate diffusion process which approxiamtes the queue size in the system and derive the transient solution of Kolmogorov forward equation of the diffusion process. We derive an approximation formula for the transient queue size distribution and mean queue size, and then obtain the stationary solution from the transient solution. Accuracy evalution is presented by comparing approximation results for the mean queue size with the exact results or simulation results numerically.

In this study, the effect of porosity distribution pattern on the free vibration analysis of porous FG plates with various boundary conditions is studied. The material properties of the plate and the porosities within the plate are considered to vary continuously through the thickness direction according to the volume fraction of constituents defined by the modified rule of the mixture, this includes porosity volume fraction with four different types of porosity distribution over the cross-section. The governing partial differential equation of motion for the free vibration analysis is obtained using hyperbolic shear deformation theory. An analytical solution is presented for the governing PDEs for various boundary conditions. Results of the presented solution are compared and validated by the available results in the literature. Moreover, the effects of material and porosity distribution and geometrical parameters on vibrational properties are investigated.
The objective of the present study is to investigate the effects of the various inlet boundary layer thickness on convective heat transfer distribution in a turbine cascade endwall and blade suction surface. In addition, the proper height of the boundary layer fences for various inlet boundary layer thickness were applied to turbine cascade endwall in order to reduce the secondary flow, and to verify its influence on the heat transfer process within the turbine cascade. Convective heat transfer distributions on the experimental regions were measured by the image processing system. The results show that heat transfer coefficients on the blade suction surface were increased with an augmentation of inlet boundary layer thickness. However, in a turbine cascade endwall, magnitude of heat transfer coefficients did not change with variation of inlet boundary layer thickness. The results also present that the boundary layer fence is effective in reducing heat transfer on the suction surface. On the other hand, in the endwall region, boundary layer fence brought about the subsidiary heat transfer increment.
In this paper we present a novel robotic palpation method for the lump shape estimation using contact pressure distribution. Many previous researches about the robotic palpation have used a stiffness map, which is not suitable to obtain geometrical information of a lump. As a result, they require a large data set and long palpation time to estimate the lump shape. Instead of using the stiffness map, the proposed palpation method uses the difference between the normal force direction and the surface normal to detect the lump boundary and estimate its normal. The palpation trajectory is generated by the normal of the lump boundary to track the lump boundary in real-time. The proposed approach requires small data set and short palpation time for the lump shape estimation since the shape can be directly estimated from the optimally generated palpation trajectory. An experiment result shows that our method can find the lump shape accurately in real-time with small data and short time.
UN-REDD (United Nations programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation) is currently being emerged as one of important mechanism to reduce carbon dioxide in relation to the deforestation. Although administrative boundary has already gained world-wide recognition as a typical method of monitoring unit in the process of GHG (Greenhouse Gas) reduction project, this approach did not provide a realistic evidence in the carbon sequestering monitoring in terms of UN-REDD; the meaningful comparison of land use patterns among watershed boundaries, interpretation for distribution trends of carbon density, calculation of opportunity cost, leakage management, etc. This research proposes a comparative evaluation framework in a more objective and quantitative way for carbon sequestering monitoring between administrative and watershed boundary approaches. Mt. Geumgang of North Korea was selected as a survey objective and an exhaustive and realistic comparison of carbon sequestration between the two approaches was conducted, based on change detection using TM satellite images. It was possible for drainage boundary approach to identify more detailed area-wide patterns of carbon distribution than traditional administrative one, such as estimations of state and trends, including historical trends, of land use / land cover and carbon density in the Mt. Geumgang. The distinctive changing trends in terms of carbon sequestration were specifically identified over the watershed boundary from 4.0% to 34.8% while less than 1% difference was observed in the administrative boundaries, which were resulting in almost 21-22%. It is anticipated that this research output could be used as a valuable reference to support more scientific and objective decision-making in introducing watershed boundary as carbon sequestering monitoring unit.
An iterative procedure for the calculation of the thick axisymmetric boundary layer and wake near the stern of a body of revolution is presented. Procedure consists of the potential flow calculation by a method of the integral equation of first kind and the calculation of boundary layer and wake by a differential me¬thod of the boundary layer theory. Additionally, higher order terms are included in the conventional momentum equations and continuity equation for the consider¬ation of the characteristics of axisymmetric flow different from the one of two dimentional flow and the thick boundary layer. These solutions are matched at the edge of boundary layer and wake. The results obtained by the present me¬thod are compared with the experimental data and it is found that the nominal wake distribution at the propeller plane of a axisymmetric body is in good agree¬ment with the experiment.

This paper deals with the treatment of the open boundary in two-dimensional free-surface wave problems. Two numerical schemes are investigated for the implementation of the open boundary condition. One is to add the artificial damping term to the dynamic free-surface boundary condition, in which the determination of suitable damping coefficient and the damping zone is the most important. The other is a modified Orlanski's method, which is known to be very useful for the uni-directional waves. Using these two schemes, numerical tests have been conducted for a few typical free-surface wave problems. To obtain the numerical solution of the free-surface boundary value problem, the fundamental source-distribution method is used and the fully nonlinear free-surface boundary conditions are applied. The computed results are presented in comparison with those of others for the proof of practicality of these two schemes.
