The chemical behavior of the trivalent lanthanide$(Pr^{3+}, Eu^{3+}, Gd^{3+} 그리고 Yb^{3+})$complexes with organo-ligand (2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedione) has been investigated by the use of UV/Vis-spectrophotometric, magnetics, and electrochemical method. The two or three energy absorption bands are observed by the spectra of these complexes. The magnetitude of crystal field splitting energy, the spin pairing energy and bond stength was obtained from the spectra of the complexes. These are found to be localization, low-spin (or high-spin state, and strong bonding strength. The magnetic dipole moment are found to be diamagnetic complexes (or paramagnetic). The electrochemical behavior of complexes was observed by the use of cyclic voltammetry in aprotic media. These reduction peaks were irreversible two and three step reduction processes by electron transfer.

Flower-like nickel oxide (NiO) catalysts were coated on NiCrAl alloy foam using a hydrothermal method. The structural, morphological, and chemical bonding properties of the NiO catalysts coated on the NiCrAl alloy foam were investigated by field-emission scanning electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, respectively. To obtain flower-like morphology of NiO catalysts on the NiCrAl alloy foam, we prepared three different levels of pH of the hydrothermal solution: pH-7.0, pH-10.0, and pH-11.5. The NiO morphology of the pH-7.0 and pH-10.0 samples exhibited a large size plate owing to the slow reaction of the hydroxide ($OH^-$) and nickel ions ($Ni^+$) in lower pH than pH-11.5. Flower-like NiO catalysts (${\sim}4.7{\mu}m-6.6{\mu}m$) were formed owing to the fast reaction of $OH^-$ and $Ni^{2+}$ by increased $OH^-$ concentration at high pH. Thus, the flower-like morphology of NiO catalysts on NiCrAl alloy foam depends strongly on the pH of the hydrothermal solution.
We investigated the effect of dry grinding of laterite on the extraction of nickel and cobalt. The major chemical compositions of the sample for this work were $SiO_2$, $Fe_2O_3$ and MgO. The sample contained 0.81% Ni and 0.02% Co. The major minerals of the sample were lizardite and quartz with minor amounts of forsterite and enstatite. The mean particle size, specific surface area and density of the ground sample decreased with increasing grinding time, while the amorphization of lizardite increased as identified by XRD analysis. The grinding enabled the extraction ratio of Ni and Co to increase by the breakdown of Mg-OH bonding in the lizardite structure. However, physical properties of quartz were not changed by grinding. The extraction ratio of Ni and Co increased with increasing grinding time. Approximately 80% of Ni and Co were extracted regardless of the kind of acid solutions when the sample was ground for 60 minutes.
Korean traditional paper 'Hanji' made from the bark of the paper mulberry tree is a good handicraft material because of its high viscosity, durability, dyeability, toughness, flexibility, plasticity, and manipulability. Hanji has been used as a textile material such as cotton wool for protection and keeping us warm from cold weather. However, Hanji has many limitations, while other textile materials have many advantages of such as washability, being sunproof, and fast coloring. The purpose of this study is to review physical properties, formation ability, and dyeability of Hanji as a material of fashion accessary. The contents of this study are composed of 5 parts: 1. To introduce the necessities of this study, 2. To review a historical background of Hanji and to identify its physical characteristics as a fashion accessary material, 3. To review and to compare techniques such as bonding, quilting, knitting, creasing and holding, twisting, folding & braiding, paper pasting, coloring & cutting, and outwashing(?) in making Hanji fashion accessaries, 4. To review dyeing and finishing techniques to increase commercial value, 5. To identify the best fashion accessary materials made of Hanji. The most important characteristics of Hanji as a fashion accessary material are its toughness in a wet state, fast color fixing, and flexibility. Especially weaving and knitting are considered as the most desirable techniques to make fashion accessary products stronger and more practical.

The effects of negative carbon ion beam energy on the bonding configuration, hardness and surface roughness of DLC film prepared by a direct metal ion beam deposition system were investigated. As the negative carbon ion beam energy increased from 25 to 150 eV, the $sp^3$ fraction of DLC films was increased from 32 to 67%, while the surface roughness was decreased. The films prepared at 150 eV showed the more flat surface morphology of the film than that of the film prepared under another ion beam energy conditions. Surface roughness of DLC film varied from 0.62 to 0.22 nm with depositing carbon ion beam energy. Surface nano-hardness increased from 12 to 57 Gpa when increasing the negative carbon ion beam energy from 25 to 150 eV, and then decreased when increasing the ion beam energy from 150 to 200 eV.
Atmospheric glow plasma polymerization was applied to wood powder before fabricating polypropylene (PP) matrix composites. Seven different types of monomers (Oxygen, Benzene, CH4, Acrylic-acid, Hexafluoroethane, Trifluorotolune, Hexamethyl-disiloxane) were analyzed to determine the most suitable precursor for plasma polymerization. The surface energy was calculated from measured contact angle about each monomer on PP. Hexamethyl-disiloxane (HMDSO) had a highest surface energy and is selected as the most suitable monomer. Wood powder and polypropylene were mixed as pellets by twin screw extruder and then 50 wt% wood powder/PP composites were produced by an injection machine. Tensile strength and Flexural strength have improved by 7.59% and 12.43% at the maximum respectively. SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) observation on the fracture surface revealed that the plasma polymerization have improved the interfacial bonding and the mechanical properties of the composites.

In this study, a mixture of polypropylene fibers and glass fibers were used to weave polypropylene/glass fiber-reinforced composite panels with characteristics such as highly elongated short fibers, high ductility, anti-fouling, and hydrophobicity as a result of a directional property. Mechanical and environmental tests were carried out with specimens fabricated with this composite panel, and its applicability to shipbuilding and ocean leisure industries was evaluated through a comparison with existing glass fiber-reinforced composite materials. The results of this experiment verified the excellence of the polypropylene/glass-mixed woven fiber-reinforced composite material compared to the existing glass fiber-reinforced composite material. However, the forming process needs to be changed to improve the weak interfacial bonding, and the properties of the composite material itself could be improved through mixed weaving with other fibers after development. Maximizing of the advantages of the polypropylene fibers and overcoming their shortcomings will improve their applicability to the shipbuilding, ocean leisure, and other industries, and increase the value of polypropylene fibers in the composite material market.
We have demonstrated the production of thin films containing multilayer graphene-coated copper nanoparticles (MGCNs) by a commercial electrodeposition method. The MGCNs were produced by electrical wire explosion, an easily applied technique for creating hybrid metal nanoparticles. The nanoparticles had average diameters of 10-120 nm and quasi-spherical morphologies. We made a complex-electrodeposited copper thin film (CETF) with a thickness of $4.8{\mu}m$ by adding 300 ppm MGCNs to the electrolyte solution and performing electrodeposition. We measured the electric properties and performed corrosion testing of the CETF. Raman spectroscopy was used to measure the bonding characteristics and estimate the number of layers in the graphene films. The resistivity of the bare-electrodeposited copper thin film (BETF) was $2.092{\times}10^{-6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, and the resistivity of the CETF after the addition of 300 ppm MGCNs was decreased by 2% to ${\sim}2.049{\times}10^{-6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$. The corrosion resistance of the BETF was $9.306{\Omega}$, while that of the CETF was increased to 20.04 Ω. Therefore, the CETF with MGCNs can be used in interconnection circuits for printed circuit boards or semiconductor devices on the basis of its low resistivity and high corrosion resistance.

SHCC shows the high energy tolerance capacity due to the interfacial bonding of the fibers to the cement matrix. For effective material design and application of SHCC, it is needed to investigate the damage process and micro-fracture mechanism of cement matrix reinforced with different types of fibers. The objective of this paper is to investigate the direct tensile response of cement composites reinforced with single and hybrid fibers using acoustic emission(AE) technique. In this study, the correlations between AE signal and result of the direct tensile response of SHCC. For these purposes, three kinds of fibers were used: PET1.5%, PET1.0+PE0.5%, PET1.0%+PVA0.5%. The result of the direct tensile response of SHCC, for the same volume fraction of fibers, ultimate strength of PET-PE specimen was 2.7 times higher than specimens with PET fibers. And from AE signal value, AE event numbers and cumulative energy were different according to kind of fiber because of the different material properties of reinforced fiber.

We investigated the characteristics of the silicon oxy-nitride and nitride films grown by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) at the low temperature with a varying $NH_3/N_2O$ mixing ratio and a fixed $SiH_4$ flow rate. The deposition temperature was held at $150^{\circ}C$ which was the temperature compatible with the plastic substrate. The composition and bonding structure of the nitride films were investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Nitrogen richness was confirmed with increasing optical band gap and increasing dielectric constant with the higher $NH_3$ fraction. The leakage current density of the nitride films with a high NH3 fraction decreased from $8{\times}10^{-9}$ to $9{\times}10^{-11}(A/cm^2$ at 1.5 MV/cm). This results showed that the films had improved electrical properties and could be acceptable as a gate insulator for thin film transistors by deposited with variable $NH_3/N_2O$ mixing ratio.
