가정용 온수보일러의 성능향상에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Performance Improvement of a Domestic Hot Water Boiler)

  • An experimental study was performed to improve a domestic hot water boiler with a coil type heat exchanger. By using Korean Standard B 8107, B 8021 and B 6205, the boiler efficiency for heating, bathing and combution are calculated. Finally, the efficiency of the boiler are compared with those of the commercial production. On the whole, the performance of the hot water generator is higher than that of the other generator.

  • In a heat only boiler system of a steam power plant, outdoor air required for combustion is made to pass through indoor space for increasing the boiler efficiency. Due to heat generated by various equipments, temperature of the air that enters the boiler will increase resulting in combustion efficiency. If the outdoor air temperature is low, however, this will cause freezing and bursting of pipes which are filled with water. It is especially fatal to small diameter pipes and pipes connected to measuring instruments. The purpose of this study is find operation and outdoor conditions where this phenomena can happen and also establish preventive measures to avoid this problem.

  • Recently, energy excessive consumption and environmental pollution are the social issued. The most efficient way to solve both energy excessive consumption and environmental pollution is existing combustion system improved. This study was part of the assume and commercial used existing waste heat recovery condensing boiler to low emission performance for exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) and thermal efficiency rise by applying the condensed water recirculation(CWR) conducted. The researchers applied the EGR and CWR develop a new concept for the condensed water recirculation waste heat recovery condensing boiler. Waste heat recovery condensing boiler applied to the condensed water recirculation thermal efficiency of the same conditions was increased by about 4.8~5.5% and pollution emission also decreased.

탄소섬유 발열체를 이용한 증기 보일러 개발에 관한 연구 (Study on the Development of Steam Boiler using Carbon-fiber Heater)

  • Carbon fiber shows excellent heat generation value and thermal efficiency comparing with the metallic materials because of its far infrared-rays and radiant heat. So, high performance and economic steam boiler system for the industry can be manufactured by using the carbon fiber heater. The far infrared ray radiation rate was more than 90 % of carbon fiber. Steam boiler system with carbon fiber heater in this study is made up of heating section. In the proof test of steam boiler, the aimed temperature and dwelling time were at $500^{\circ}C$ for 8,000 hours, $600^{\circ}C$-3,000 hours, and $700^{\circ}C$-1,000 hours. The temperature rise rate of steam boiler with carbon fiber heater was about 40% faster than that of the conventional boiler.

A Feasibility Study on Adopting Sliding Pressure Operation for Drum Type Boiler

  • In general, drum-type boilers are designed for base load duty and applied under constant pressure operation mode. Recently, however conditions often occur that even drum-type boilers have to operate at partial load conditions. A feasibility study on adopting the sliding pressure operation for drum-type boiler was conducted, and corresponding performance changes and effects on the equipment were analyzed by utilizing a process simulation model. As a result, the conclusion was reached that drum type boilers are able to adopt the sliding pressure operation and can improve of net efficiency at part load operation in spite of the Rankine cycle efficiency reduction due to the decreases in main steam pressure. Because of thank to improvement of high pressure turbine stage-1 internal efficiency and power savings of boiler feed water pump. The sliding pressure operation is advantageous in terms of stress level relief for boiler tube as well as maintaining the rating steam temperature at part load condition. However, cautions are required because the drum boilers have poor dynamic response characteristics which may get worse during the sliding pressure operation.

LPG 증기보일러의 배기 배출물에 미치는 요소-SCR 후처리 시스템의 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on Effect of Urea-SCR Aftertreatment System upon Exhaust Emissions in a LPG Steam Boiler)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of SCR reactor on the exhaust emissions characteristics in order to develop a urea-SCR aftertreatment system for reducing $NO_x$ emissions. The experiments are conducted by using a flue tube LPG steam boiler with the urea-SCR aftertreatment system. The urea-SCR aftertreatment system utilizes the ammonia converted from 17% aqueous urea solution injected in front of SCR catalyst as a reducing agent for reducing $NO_x$ emissions. The equivalence ratio, urea injection amount, ammonia slip and $NO_x$ conversion efficiency relative to boiler load are applied to discuss the experimental results. In this experiment, the average equivalence ratio is calculated by changing only the fuel consumption rate while the intake air amount is constantly fixed at $25,957.11cm^3/sec$. The average equivalence ratios are 1.38, 1.11, 0.81 and 0.57 when boiler loads are 100, 80, 60 and 40%. The $NO_x$ conversion efficiency is raised with increasing urea injection amount, and $NH_3$ slip is also boosted at the same time. Consequently, the $NO_x$ conversion efficiency relative to boiler load should be examined in combination with urea injection amount and $NH_3$ slip. The results are calculated by 89, 85, 77 and 79% for the boiler loads of 100, 80, 60 and 40%. The appropriate amount of urea injection for the respective boiler load can be not discussed by only $NO_x$ emissions, and should be determined by considering the $NO_x$ conversion efficiency, $NH_3$ slip and reactive activation temperature simultaneously. In this study, the urea amounts of 230, 235, 233 and 231 mg/min are injected at the boiler loads of 100, 80, 60 and 40%, and the final $NH_3$ slips are measured by 8.48, 5.58, 11.97 and 11.34 ppm at the same conditions. THC emission is affected by the SCR reactor under other experimental conditions except 100% engine load, and CO emission at only 40% engine load. The rest of exhaust emissions are not affected by the SCR reactor under all experimental conditions.

Development of a Highly Efficient Boiler System Using a Diesel Engine

  • We have developed a highly efficient boiler system using the 2,600cc Diesel engine. In this system, the co-generation concept is utilized in that the electric power is produced by the generator connected to the engine, and waste heat is recovered from both the exhaust gases and the engine itself by the shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The heat exchanger connected to the engine outlet is specially designed such that it not only recovers waste heat effectively from the exhaust gases, but significantly reduces an engine noise. It is found that the total efficiency(thermal efficiency plus electric power generation efficiency) of this system reaches maximum 96.3% which is about 15% higher than the typical Diesel engine boiler system currently being used worldwide.

870MW 대향류 보일러에서 최상부층 버너 선택운전에 따른 보일러 효율변화 고찰 (A Study on the boiler efficiency with selecting the uppermost burners in the 870MW opposite wall fired boiler)

  • 본 연구에서는 정격출력 870MW, 대향류 석탄보일러의 최상부층 버너운전에 따른 보일러 연소상태 변화와 보일러 효율을 측정하였다. 시험방법은 하부와 중간층 버너가 운전중인 상태에서 최상부층 전방버너, 전,후방 버너 동시 운전, 후방 버너 운전으로 구분하여 최상부층 버너 운전에 따른 보일러 효율을 측정하였으며 시험 결과 최상부층 전 후방 버너 동시운전 > 최상부층 전방 버너 > 최상부층 후방 버너 운전의 순으로 보일러 효율이 높게 나타났다. 최상부층 전방과 후방 버너를 동시에 운전할 경우 보일러 노 내 열흡수율 증가 및 대류전열면 좌우 증기온도 편차가 감소되었다. 보일러 열흡수율 개선에 따라 보일러 배기가스손실 감소 및 석탄공급량이 후방버너 운전 대비 8t/h 감소하였으며, 이는 연료비 절감은 물론 온실가스 배출량 감축에도 크게 기여할 것으로 판단된다.

  • This paper presents the experimental investigations of a system as a second treatment means to increase boiler efficiency and heat transfer from combustion gas to heating surfaces in the case of spray combustion. In order to reburn residual combustible components accelerate the burning rate of sprayed fuel droplets, improve the diffusion flame and delay the residence time of the flame, advice with slit type nozzles for spouting preheated supplementary air is used in this study. In the experiment, boiler efficiency and smoke concentration in the exhaust gas at given conditions are measured in both case of installing and not-installing device in the model of combustion chamber which was designed to be equipped with five surfaces. The results obtained in this experiment are as follows ; 1. The optimum values of air rate ${\lambda}$ are about 1.3 in both case. 2. The exhaust gas temperature in the case with device increases about $30{\sim}70^{\circ}C$ above that of the case without the device. 3. Boiler efficiency and reduction effect of smoke emissions are improved considerably.

  • A 2-loop waste heat recovery system with Rankine steam cycles for the improvement of fuel efficiency of gasoline vehicles has been investigated. A high temperature loop(HT loop) is a system to recover the waste heat from the exhaust gas, a low temperature loop(LT loop) is for heat recovery from the engine coolant cold relatively. This paper has dealt with a layout of a LT loop system, the review of the working fluids, and the design of the cycle. The design point and the target heat recovery of the LT boiler, a core part of a LT loop, has been presented and analytically investigated. Considering the characteristics of the cycle, the basic concept of the LT boiler has been determined as a shell-and tube type counterflow heat exchanger, the performance characteristics for various design parameters were investigated.
