This study aims to examine the difference of body image and psychological well-being of men and women according to appearance management. The subjects of the study were 673 college students who lived in Seoul and metropolitan areas. Statistical analyses used in the study were factor analysis, Cronbach's a, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncan test and $\chi^2-test$. The results of this study were as follows; 1. The body image was categorized into the three factors of personal interest innce, anxiety about weight and physical attraction. Appearance management was categorized into the appearance management through clothing, strict diet therapy and daily appearance management. The psychological well-being was classified as seven factors which include the life goal, self-acceptance, positive personal relations, self-regulation, personal development, environment control and responsibility. 2. The appearance management was classified by 4 groups as below: Daily appearance management group, strict diet therapy group, appearance management through clothing group and no interest in appearance group. 3. There were significant differences among the four groups regarding body image, psychological well-being and life satisfaction. First, appearance management through clothing group had more interest in appearance than other groups. In the case of weight awareness, strict diet therapy group and the appearance management through clothing group intended to have more concerns over their weight. The strict diet therapy group seemed to have an overall lower level of psychological well-being than other groups. Lastly, the appearance management through clothing group had a higher level of life satisfaction.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the level of body perception, obesity, and factors associated with stages of exercise and dietary habits change in university students. Methods: A descriptive design was used. Data were collected from 279 university students using structured questionnaires. Results: The body perception was significantly associated with self rated health (F=27.89. p<.001), weight satisfaction (F=137.74. p<.001) and weight control interest (F=39.19. p<.001). The BMI was significantly associated with weight satisfaction (F=34.08. p<.001) and weight control interest (F=19.59. p=.003). But the body perception and BMI were not significantly associated with depression (F=2.17, p=.073, F=0.86. p=.462), the change of exercise (F=25.91. p=.055, F=20.34. p=.061), and dietary habits (F=12.96. p=.677, F=11.29. p=.505). The related factors affecting the change of exercise behavior were counter conditioning, self efficacy, eating behavior, and helping relationship, including 30.4% R-square. The related factor affecting the change of dietary habit was only eating behavior, including 20.0% R-square. Conclusion: This study can provide useful information to develop effective programs for the change of exercise and dietary habits considering university students' stages of change according to the transtheoretical model.
Purpose: The biggest problem of wound healing is a possible occurrence of lesion. Especially, in the case of patients who have a skin injury around exposed body parts, if their treatment period drag on for long time, they can suffer from aftereffects and the costs can be passed on to a society. Therefore, in this research, we investigated the need to develop the effective medicine and appliances for the patients by examining which therapy methods are being applying to the skin damage and what is the advantage and limit by evaluating the patient's satisfaction level. Methods: We carried out an online and offline survey targeting medical teams in order to analyze device for wound care. A total of 125 medical teams applied to the research, and investigate the level of customer satisfaction. Results: The moist dressings are the most used method for wound healing. When it comes to the level of customer satisfaction, biological dressing product also has a high satisfaction level. However its high cost tends to limit the use. Conclusion: This research reached a conclusion that it is need to develop a low cost and high efficiency wound care product considering the fact that its high cost and low efficiency induced economic problems. Generally, it is needed to develop a product for skin regeneration based on biological technologies, not a product just for damage cure.
This study is to observe the effectiveness of the applied model and to present the improvement plan and directions for development for the case management practical model suitable for the actual condition of Korea Labor Welfare Co. and needs of the industrial injury patients. The concrete purpose of this study is: First, observe the difference of stressor experience and experience degree between the experimental group and the comparative group. Second, observe the difference of stress of the experimental group and the comparative group. Third, find out how the stress affects the support degree and satisfaction degree. Fourth, present the improvement plan of case management model, which can promote the psychosocial rehabilitation of the industrial injury patient based on the research results. The outline of the main research results identified in this study is as follows. The stressors the industrial injury patients perceived are health problems, family matters, the problems concerning hospital recuperation (hospital staff and environmental problems), economical problems, problems of coming back to society, problems with companies, problems with Korea labour Welfare Co. and other problems. And the experience of stressor was prominently lower in experimental group than comparative group in the whole problem, health problem, problems with Korea Labour-Welfare Co. and other problems. The stressor experience degree was conspicuously lower in experimental group in the whole problem experience degree, health problem experience degree, problem with Korea Labour Co. experience degree and other problem experience degree. Besides whether or not the case management is applied is having a prominent affect on the primary factor affecting the stressor experience degree, therefore the patients applied with case management has less stressor than the patient who didn't. The difference of degree of tension experienced by the stressor in both groups, the degree of stress, was not conspicuous in statistics so it shows that the application of case management in this research has not affected the degree of tension. The field which had been the most help was emotional support in help level the experimental group perceived through applying case management about industrial accident patients and recuperation, compensation problem, medical treatment problem, family matters has been helpful in this order. The help level of the whole problem was in higher level than the middle value. The stress factor which affects the case management problem settlement is the whole body of stress. The satisfaction level of help through applying case management was highest in emotional support and family matters, recuperation problem, company problem, compensation problem, and medical treatment problem was the next highest. The satisfaction level of the whole problem was higher than the middle value. The stress factor affecting the satisfaction level of help is the whole body of stress. Therefore to reduce the stress level of industrial accident patients and for them to come back to local societies, we need to reinforce the continuance and responsibility of case management model, increase staff, reinforce the role of counsel and medical treatment, intervene in the patient's plan of leaving the hospital, develop social support system and the need to establish After Care Center.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the relationships among body image, social self concept, and clothing behaviors of adolescents, and to find out the differences of the relationships among these three variables by adolescents' sex and age variables. The research method was survey and the subjects were 656 male and female adolescents in Daejeon. The questionnaire consisted of 4 measuring instruments; body image, social self concept, clothing behaviors and demographic attribution. The data were analyzed by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, t-test, and path analysis, using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, adolescents generally evaluated their bodies as middle level on their physical attractiveness and had positive social self concept. And high school students had more positive body image and social self concept than middle school students. Second, on clothing behaviors, 5 dimensions were emerged: clothing interest, psychological dependency of clothing, clothing ostentation, clothing conformity, and clothing satisfaction. Third, there were close correlations among body image, social self concept, and clothing behaviors; body image and social self concept had close interrelationship each other. However, body image had close relationship with only clothing satisfaction dimension, whereas social self concept had close relationships with all clothing behavior dimensions except clothing conformity. In conclusion, this results showed that body image, social self concept and clothing behaviors have close interrelations, therefore, clothing play an important role to enhance adolescents' body image and social self concept.
As directly imported apparel brands are actively entering the domestic market, studies of the marketing aspects of these imported apparel products and their overall consumption trend have been done. However, studies of whether are not the directly imported apparel products provide Korean consumers with an appropriate fit are not as common. Therefore, this study investigates the satisfaction with and problems associated with the fit along with the recognition of and preference for directly imported US apparel brands. 100 female college students who purchased directly imported US apparel brands participated in a survey. The results of this survey showed that their recognition of, preference for, possession rate of and satisfaction with the directly imported US apparel brands tend to be high. The major purchasing motivations were the excellent 'design' and 'color' of the products. The subjects reported that they were satisfied with the quality of 'materials' and 'sewing condition'. However, they were not satisfied with the 'comfort' or the 'size'. Their level of satisfaction with the fit of these products differed depending on the specific item. Their level of satisfaction with the fit of T-shirts and knits was high, whereas the level for pants was relatively low. They complained mostly about the sleeve length and garment length of upper-body garments and coats. They were not satisfied with how the pants fit. The areas of dissatisfaction regarding the pants were the waist girth, the crotch length and the pants length.
본 연구는 2015년 지역사회건강조사 자료를 사용하여 한국의 40~59세 중년의 대중교통 만족도에 따른 체질량지수(BMI)에 대한 걷기 일수의 매개효과를 파악하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 중장년층의 일상적인 걷기활동 지원 및 증진을 위한 근린환경의 제공, 걷기활동 지원 프로그램 마련에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 지역사회건강조사 원시데이터의 228,558명 중 사용변수에 대해 결측값을 제거하고 40~59세 중년 85,344명을 최종분석 대상자로 선정하였다. 종속변수는 체질량지수(BMI)로 대중교통 만족도를 독립변수로 걷기 일수가 매개효과가 있는지에 대해 자료의 분석은 R 3.4.1로 시행하였다. Sobel test로 매개효과를 검증해 본 결과 대중교통 만족도가 증가하면 걷기 일수는 B=.010(p=.010)만큼 증가하였고, 대중교통 만족도가 증가하면 체질량지수는 B=-.052(p=.021)만큼, 걷기 일수는 B=-.038(p=.001) 감소하였다. 이에 따른 대중교통 만족도와 체질량지수에 대한 걷기 일수의 매개효과는 Sobel z=2.300(p=.021)로 대중교통 만족도가 증가하면 걷기 일수가 증가하고, 그로 인해 체질량지수가 감소하는 매개효과가 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 대중교통 만족도를 높여 대중교통 이용을 증가시킴으로서 걷기 일수를 증가시키고 체질량지수를 감소시키기 위해서는 고찰에서 언급했던 대중교통 만족도 중 대중교통 요금의 적절성과 접근편리성을 지금 수준보다 더욱 향상시켜야 한다. 아직까지는 수도권이나 대도시를 벗어나 중소도시로 가게 되면 대중교통으로 목적지에 도달하는 것이 불편한 경향이 나타나므로 건강을 향상시키기 위해서는 대중교통 시스템의 개선이 필요하다.
The purposes of the study, based on the social comparison theory, were 1) to examine the body image and the body distortion of the late adolescent through the attitudinal and perceptual measurement of the body image and to examine the self-esteem, 2) to examine the difference of the clothing behaviors depending on the level of the body image, the body distortion and the self-esteem, 3) to examine the difference in the clothing behavior, the body image and the self-esteem according to sex. The sampling method was a convenient sampling and the subjects were 137 undergraduate students in Chungnam national University. The results of this study were as follows : The results of analysing the factors to the response of attitudinal body image emerged three factors (appearance interest, weight concern, and body satisfaction). The results of analysing the response of the clothing behavior showed four factors (fashion interest, psychological dependence of clothing, conformity to clothing, and exhibitionism of clothing). The positive group to the body image showed more interest in the fashion and had the tendency of depending on the clothing psychologically, and also showed that the group revealed much exhibitive attitude by using the clothing. The group of perceiving the face rather correctly tends to do the conformity behaviors, but the group distorting the shoulder width wider than tends to reveal more conformity behaviors. The group with the higher self-esteem had little interested in the fashion and also did the conformity behaviors slightly.
Objective : As part of the Korean Medicine Official Development Assistance(ODA) and Public Health Project, we implemented a obesity management program(OMP) using Korean medicine in Uzbekistan and its follow-up study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. Method : We recruited the participants of whose Body Mass Index(BMI) were over $25kg/m^2$ and who agreed to participate in the program at the South Korea-Uzbekistan Friendship Korean Medical Hospital in Uzbekistan. The program consisted of auricular acupuncture, functional food, and education program on diet and exercise. It was provided once a week during 7-week period. Anthropometric measurements and blood test measuring total cholesterol, triglyceride, and glucose were performed at the baseline, the end of the program, and 10-month follow-up. At the end of the program and the follow-up, survey on satisfaction and self-evaluation of the effectiveness of the program was additionally conducted. Results : 43 out of 78 participants completed the program and were included in the analysis. The analysis of the main outcomes showed that there were significant decreases in anthropometric measurements such as body weight, waist circumference, body mass index (BMI) and body fat content as well as blood test including triglycerides, total cholesterol and blood glucose levels. In the follow-up study, 24 subjects participated and 19 subjects (79.1%) reported that they succeeded in weight control. Furthermore, many participants reported that they maintained healthy lifestyles like healthy diet and regular exercise. The satisfaction with the program was also relatively high, and the education program was selected as the most motivating intervention for weight control. The outcomes such as body weight, BMI, body fat content, and blood glucose level were maintained to be at the decreased level; however, waist circumference, total cholesterol and triglycerides levels either returned back to the baseline level or were elevated to the level higher than the baseline. Conclusion : This study suggests that the OMP using Korean medicine may contribute to weight control of obese population in Uzbekistan. It is meaningful in that the study shows the possibility of implementing health promotion programs using Korean medicine in other countries with different cultures. In the future, more efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of the programs using rigorous methodologies and utilize the effective programs in ODA project will be needed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate body cathexis and clothing involvement by demographic characteristics and to indentify the relationship between body cathexis and clothing involvment. Five aspects of body cathexis(lower body, head/upper body, height, weight, torso) were assessed with 17 Likert type questionnaires adapted from the previous researches, and 24 items of clothing involvement were measured. The questionnaire was administered to 430 women in Taegu, Korea. The data were analyzed using percentage, frequency, factor analysis, ANOVA, Sceffe test, t-test, and Pearson's Correlation Analysis. The results of the study were as follows; 1. The body cathexis showed head/upper body, height, torso, lower body, weight in order of satisfaction level. Especially lower body and weight part were shown as the most unsatisfactory body parts. Age of 20s' showed the lowest body cathexis, and those who had the higher educational background and family income were more satisfied with their bodies. 2. Five dimensions of clothing involvement were derived by factor analysis such as fashion, interest, pleasure, symbolism, and perceived buying risk. 3. There were significant relationships between clothing involvement dimensions and demographic characteristics such as age, educational background and family income level. Those who were younger showed positive relationship partially among fashion, interest and pleasure of clothing dimensions but showed negative relationship in total clothing involvement. Those who had higher educational background and family income showed positive clothing involvement than married women and empolyed showed higher clothing involvement with symbolism and perceived buying risk than unemployed women partially but not in total clothing involvement with symbolism and perceived buying risk than unemployed women partially but not in total clothing involvement. 4. There were significant relationships between body cathexis and interest, perceived buying risk of clothing involvement partially. However, the correlation between body cathexis and total clothing involvement was relatively low.
