  • This paper proposes method to improve the image quality degradation that show when reconstructing compressed images at low bit rate by using wavelet transform. The image quality distortion is blocking artifacts and noise in DCT's compression but blocking artifacts of wavelet transform does not appear and ringing artifacts was appeared near the edge. This proposed technique is classified to part which is ringing artifacts of the edge vicinity appears which is not, apply adaptive filter to each region improved image. A edge region which is harsh to the eye is applied by Canny mask and finding strong edge region, search the neighborhood classify the flat region and the texture region, and apply to each region suitable filter, As experiment result, PSNR value of method that is proposed in that low bit rate compression image that ringing artifact appears became low about 0.05db, but 0.023db degree rose strong edge region and nat region's image. Also, showed picture quality improved more than ringing artifacts in nat region when see from subjective viewpoint of human.

  • The electromagnetic properties and thermal behavior of Mn-Zn ferrite cores for the blocking filter of Power Line Communication(PLC) application were investigated as a function of additives. The highest density and permeability were 4.98 g/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 8,221, respectively and were obtained to the specimen with composition of MnO 24 mol%, ZnO 25 mol% and Fe$_2$O$_3$ mol%, added MoO$_3$ of 400 ppm, SiO$_2$ of 100 ppm, and CaO of 200 ppm. The uniform grains were organized, and the microstructures were densified due to reduction of pores in the specimen. The permeability was increased up to 13,904 as the temperature of specimen increased to 110$^{\circ}C$. However, it was decreased precipitously under 100 over 110$^{\circ}C$. The exothermic behavior was observed in the frequency range from 1 kHz to 1 MHz, and the maximum temperature of specimen was 102$^{\circ}C$ at 1 MHz. In the consequence, the Mn-Zn ferrite core developed in this research will maintain the stable electromagnetic properties since the temperature of ferrite core rose to 93$^{\circ}C$ in the range of 100 kHz to 450 kHz bandwidth qualified for PLC. The blocking filters were designed for single phase and three phases using the in-line and non-contact core. The best attenuation ratios of -46.46 dB and -73.9 dB were measured in the range of 100 kHz to 450 kHz bandwidth, respectively.

  • H.264/AVC is a new international standard for the compression of video images, in which a deblocking filter has been adopted to remove blocking artifacts. This paper proposes an efficient architecture of deblocking filter in H.264/AVC. By making good use of data dependence between neighboring $4{\times}4$ blocks, the memory size is reduced and the throughput of the deblocking filter processing is increased. Compared to the conventional deblocking filters, the proposed architecture enhances the performance of deblocking filter processing from 1.75 to 4.23 times. Hence the proposed architecture is able to perform real-time deblocking of high-resolution($2048{\times}1024$) video applications.

  • This experiment did comparison and analysis that protected soil particle migration have affect on function of the filter and therefore fall function of the filter. Results obtained are as follows: 1.High water head makes to be much movement of fine sand and out flow of particle to the outside. The filter have large opening size that reached stability an early stage, but much fine sand is washed away. If the velocity turns fast and becomes small, blocking phenomenon is remarkable nearby the filter-sand interface. 2. The movement of fine sand that effect on function of filter depend on opening size and change of water head. Under the same condition, USCE filter and USSPL filter is reached earlier than other filter that is stability of stage, because it's opening size is large. 3. Residual quantity of fine sand migration was largly come out in order of USSPL, USCE, USBR, Newton & Hurley, Bertram filter. 4. The time required to stability of flow was taken less in order of Bertram, Newton & Hurley, USBR, USSPL, USCE filter and coefficient of permeability was highly come out in order of USBR, Bertram, Newton & Hurley, USSPL, USCE filter. 5. It proved that USCE and USSPL is suitable for the filter criteria.

  • This study aimed to a basic research for the development of dye-sensitized solar cells that the wavelength band required for crop growth is passed, and the wavelength band that is not necessary for crop growth can be used for the generation of electricity. The transmissivity according to the illuminance was about 10% higher in the Blue filter and the Green filter than in the Red filter, but the transmissivity according to the PPFD was about 10% higher in the Red filter and the Blue filter than in the Green filter. In addition, the greenhouse attached with 30% infrared blocking filter was predicted to have a lower air temperature than other greenhouses, but it was investigated that there was no significant difference. Therefore, it was investigated that the application of the infrared cut filter would not be appropriate in a greenhouse that controls the temperature by opening a window. As a result of investigating, it was found that the Green and Blue filter greenhouses had the severe overgrowth and the stems grew weaker. The fresh weight of paprika in the infrared blocking filter greenhouse was the highest at 678.9g, and the growth of Red filter and the control greenhouses was relatively poor. Photosynthetic rate, amount of transpiration, and stomatal conductivity were the infrared blocking filter and control greenhouse higher than others. On the other hand, the water use efficiency did not show a big difference.

  • In this paper, we present a new blocking artifact reduction algorithm using interpolation and signal adaptive filter (SAF) based on the edge map. Generally, block-based coding, such as JPEG and MPEG, is the most popular image compression method. However, for high compression it produces noticeable blocking and ringing artifacts in the decoded image. In proposed method, all the block is classified into low and high frequency blocks in block classification procedure. And edge map is obtained by using Sobel operator on decoded image. And according to the block property we applied blocking artifacts reduction algorithm. Namely, four neighbor low frequency block is participated in interpolation based on edge map. And ringing artifacts is removed by applying a signal adaptive filter around the edge using edge map in high frequency block. The computer simulation results confirmed a better performance by the proposed method in both the subjective and objective image qualities.

  • In this paper, in order to reduce the blocking effect of block coded images, we propose the method considering the lowpass and bandpass components of Granrath's human visual model. This method consists of two-stage enhancement procedure. The first step is lowpass filtering which smooths out the blocking effect, and the second step is a high frequency enhancement procedure to increase the contrast decreased by the lowpass filtering in the first step. In the first step, the one-dimensional Gaussian filter which aligthns parallel to the edge direction is considered to preserve the edge in the block and the two-dimensional Gaussian filter is used to smooth out the blocking effect near the block boundaries. In the second step, the lowpass and bandpass components of the Granrath's model are considered to increase contrast in a restored image. The performance comparison of the proposed method and the existing mehtods is made by a computer simulation with several block coded images. We can see that the enhancement in the subjective quality of images of the proposed method is more significant than the enhancement in the subjective quality of images of the proposed method is more significant than the existing methods, though the proposed method does not show better performance on the PSNR gain, the poor measure of picture quality for block coded images.

  • The In-loop filtering methods such as de-blocking filter and SAO(Sample Adaptive Offset) applied to the HEVC standard achieves coding efficiency and subjective quality improvement by reducing the blocking artifacts and the ringing artifacts. However, despite the use of In-loop filtering methods, the artifacts called a corner outlier occurring at the corner points of block boundaries are not removed. In this paper, the corner outlier artifacts are reduced by the detection, determination, and filtering processes on the corner outlier pixels. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the subjective picture quality and slightly increases the coding efficiency in Inter prediction.

  • In this paper, we propose a deblocking filter hardware architecture for low-power HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding) in-loop for mobile systems. HEVC performs image compression on a block-by-block basis, resulting in blockage of the image due to quantization error. The deblocking filter is used to remove the blocking phenomenon in the image. Currently, UHD video service is supported in various mobile systems, but power consumption is high. The proposed low-power deblocking filter hardware structure minimizes the power consumption by blocking the clock to the internal module when the filter is not applied. It also has four parallel filter structures for high throughput at low operating frequencies and each filter is implemented in a four-stage pipeline. The proposed deblocking filter hardware structure is designed with Verilog HDL and synthesized using TSMC 65nm CMOS standard cell library, resulting in about 52.13K gates. In addition, real-time processing of 8K@84fps video is possible at 110MHz operating frequency, and operation power is 6.7mW.

  • In this paper, we propose an iterative algorithm for reducing the blocking artifact in block transform-coded images by using a wavelet transform. In the proposed method, an image is considered as a set of one-dimensional horizontal and vertical signals and one-dimensional wavelet transform is utilized in which the mother wavelet is the first order derivative of a Gaussian like function. The blocking artifact is reduced by removing the blocking component, that causes the variance at the block boundary position in the first scale wavelet domain to be abnormally higher than those at the other positions, using a minimum mean square error (MMSE) filter in the wavelet domain. This filter minimizes the MSE between the ideal blocking component-free signal and the restored signal in the neighborhood of block boundaries in the wavelet domain. It also uses local variance in the wavelet domain for pixel adaptive processing. The filtering and the projection onto a convex set of quantization constraint are iteratively performed in alternating fashion. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields not only a PSNR improvement of about 0.56-1.07 dB, but also subjective quality nearly free of the blocking artifact and edge blur.
