Block-wise Adaptive Predictive PLS using Block-wise Data Extraction (데이터 추출 과정을 적용한 Block-wise Adaptive Predictive PLS)

  • Recursive Partial Least Squares(RPLS) method has been used for processing the on-line available multivariate chemical process data and modeling adaptive prediction model for process changes. However, RPLS method is unstable in PLS model updating because RPLS method updates PLS model by merging past PLS model and new data. In this study, Adaptive Predictive Partial Least Squres(APPLS) method is suggested for more sensitive adaptation to process changes. By expanding APPLS method, block-wise Adaptive Predictive Partial Least Squares(block-wise APPLS) method is suggested for a lager scale data of chemical processes. APPLS method has been applied to predict the reactor properties and the product quality of a direct esterification reactor for polyethylene terephthalate(PTT), and block-wise APPLS method has been applied to predict the cetane number using NIR Diesel Spectra data. APPLS and block-wise APPLS methods show better prediction and updating performance than RPLS method.

  • In this paper, I present a MPEG4 decoding system modeling in SystemC, a new C/C++ based system simulation approach, In the modeling, MPEG4 decoding behavior is modeled and verified. And I partitions the MPEG4 decoding system into several hardware components which will be implemented at low level hardware design flow and I model a synchronized hardware block communication through data ports.

Analyzing Airport Network Characteristics Applied to the Structural Equivalence (구조적 등위성을 적용한 공항네트워크의 특성 분석)

  • This study dealt with the airport network applying the Structural Equivalence which has used in the field of social science network. It analyzed the size of aviation market and trade exchanges. The results between blocks through the Convergence of Iteration Correlation are as follows; Block 1 (major hub airport) and Block 5 (Australian and New Zealand airports) have a strong relationship between other blocks. Block 3 (CIS region) and Block 7 (Malaysia and Indonesia) have been indicated as relatively low degree. The structural equivalence analysis can be grouped as a small number of blocks with large and complex networks and also presented a significant result according to the nature of the relationship between aviation market and the level of trade exchanges.

  • This paper presents the modeling method of $3\Phi$ phase-controlled rectifier for the DC motor drive in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. This method has no need to extend the system mathematically and thus it's easy to integrate the various systems. The whole model consists of $3\Phi$ phase-controlled rectifier block, DC motor block and speed/current controller block. The simulation results show that the model outputs are almost similar to those of the real system and therefore that the presented method is suitable for the research of the closed-loop controlled power electronic systems.

  • This paper proposes a robust nonlinear acoustic echo canceller (NAEC) which is effective for modeling the nonlinearity of a speaker module and the long acoustic echo path within a speech communication environment. The proposed NAEC utilizes a sigmoid pre-processor for modeling the speaker nonlinearity and a partitioned block frequnecy-domain adaptive filter for identifying the acoustic echo path with small delay. Simulation results confirmed that the proposed algorithm achieves excellent performance with much lower computational complexity than the previous NAEC.

  • Simulation model of outdoor block movement of shipyard is implemented in this paper. The load of the outdoor workshops in a shipyard influences a mid-term planning and scheduling of the shipyard. Since the load analysis is expected in advance before confirming the planning and scheduling, a discrete event simulation (DES) may be a good solution. The accuracy of DES is up to the accurate modeling of Products, Processes, and Resources (PPR) included in a system. PPR in the outdoor system are clearly defined and the simulation model for the outdoor logistics is implemented by modeling the selective PPR with the help of a DES tool which is programmable by users. The simulation model is verified by comparing the results with the real shipyard data. The outputs through the simulation are discussed.

  • Recently, requests for the accurate process planning using modeling and simulation technique are increasing in many engineering fields including shipbuilding industry. In this study, Combined DEVS(Discrete EVent System specification) and DTSS(Discrete Time System Specification) simulation kernel is developed, and an integration strategy of dynamics simulation module and graphics module is also implemented. To evaluate the efficiency and applicability of the simulation kernel and integration strategy, these are applied to the block erection simulation of offshore structures.

Correction Method for Measurement Failure Pixels in Depth Picture using Surface Modeling (표면 모델링을 통한 깊이 영상 내 측정 실패 화소 보정 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a correcting method of depth pixels which are failed to measure since temporary camera error. A block is modeled to plane and sphere surfaces through measured depth pixels in the block. Depth values in the block are estimated through each modeled surface and a error for the modeled surface is calculated by comparing the original and estimated pixels, then the surface which has the least error is selected. The pixels which are failed to measure are corrected by estimating depth values through selected surface. Simulation results show that the proposed method increases the correction accuracy by an average of 20% compared with the correction method of $5{\times}5$ median method.

Research Needs for TSV-Based 3D IC Architectural Floorplanning

  • This article presents key research needs in three-dimensional integrated circuit (3D IC) architectural floorplanning. Architectural floorplaning is done at a very early stage of 3D IC design process, where the goal is to quickly evaluate architectural designs described in register-transfer level (RTL) in terms of power, performance, and reliability. This evaluation is then fed back to architects for further improvement and/or modifications needed to meet the target constraints. We discuss the details of the following research needs in this article: block-level modeling, through-silicon-via (TSV) insertion and management, and chip/package co-evaluation. The goal of block-level modeling is to obtain physical, power, performance, and reliability information of architectural blocks. We then assemble the blocks into multiple tiers while connecting them using TSVs that are placed in between hard IPs and inside soft IPs. Once a full-stack 3D floorplanning is obtained, we evaluate it so that the feedback is provided back to architects.

  • This paper discusses about modeling method to simulate a nonlinear behavior like sliding or rocking of two stacked body system under earthquake condition. A double body system design can be an option to reduce seismic response of a component in comparison to a single body system for free standing structures. Therefore, according to the priority of components, the structure is to be designed by proper ratio of partition in their height for improvement of seismic capability and structural integrity. Nonlinear modeling and analysis using simple rigid body and dynamic system has been performed to check the trend in such cases. As a result, one of the two bodies can be chosen to reduce the seismic response from energy absorption of the other one by appropriate application of friction ratios not only in slip-slip condition but in slip-rock condition.
