  • Thin film capacitors with Al-Polymer-Al sandwich structure were fabricated. The bottom and top aluminium (Al) electrodes were deposited by vacuum evaporation and copper phthalocyanine (CuPc), polyaniline-emeraldine base (Pani-EB) and cobalt phthalocyanine/polyaniline - emeraldine base (CoPc /Pani-EB) blend films (which can be used as buffer hole injection layer in OLEDs) were deposited by spin coating technique. X-ray diffractograms indicated amorphous nature of the polymer films whose thicknesses were measured by capacitance and Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) methods. AC conduction studies revealed that the conduction mechanism responsible in these films is variable range hopping of polarons. From D.C conduction studies, it is observed that, the nature of conduction is ohmic in the lower fields and at higher fields the dominating D.C conduction is of Poole-Frenkel type.

  • Virtual Reality makes a virtual environment more realistic and, furthermore, it provides a variety of experiences which we cannot have in reality. A drastic growth of GPU performance and increase of computing capability make virtual environment more realistic than ever. One important element of constructing virtual environment is to animate 3D characters. Many researchers have been studying 3D characters animating and a myriad of methods have been proposed to make them more realistic. In this paper, we discuss the technologies and characteristics of 3D character animation. We believe that realistic characters in Virtual Reality will be applied to various fields: education, film and game industry, business and, particularly, medical area such as telemedicine, virtual surgery, etc.

  • To fabricate a hydrocarbon polymer electrolyte composite membrane incorporated with Pt nanoparticle, the polymer electrolyte membrane made of a sulfonated-fluorinated hydrophilic-hydrophobic block copolymer (SFBC) and sulfonated poly (ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) blend in the wight ratio of 1 : 1 was synthesized, and a simple drying process was used in order to incorporate Pt nanoparticle into the SFBC/SPEEK film by reducing platinum (II) bis (acetylacetonate), Pt $(acac)_2$. The distribution of the Pt nanoparticles was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and mechanical and thermal properties were tested by universal testing machine (UTM) and thermogravimetry analyzer (TGA). Cation conductivity, ion exchange capacity (IEC) and I-V characteristics were estimated.

  • Biodegradable polymers have been regarded as a good alternative to solve the plastic waste problems caused by nondegradable synthetic polymers such as polyethylene and polystyrene. In the soil environment, plastics are mainly being used as a mulching film for agricultural purposes. In this research, the miscibility, tensile properties and biodegradation effect of poly-${\varepsilon}$-caprolactone(PCL) with polyvinyl chloride(PVC) have been studied. After 8 weeks of biodegradation, PCL/PVC(9/91) blend surface showed newly formed many holes. Consequently, the antiplasticization phenomenon and biodegradation were observed in the PCL/PVC blends. It was confirmed that a test for general biodegradation condition can be applied to plastic biodegradation in soil.

  • Recently, Waterhorne polyurethane(WBPU) have been used for a wide range of commercial applications due to the increasing environmental regulation to reduce low-volatile organic compounds in coating and adhesives materials [1-8]. The WBPU was used in coating industry on fiber at first, and its market is increasing these days. Especially, the Waterborne polyurethane film even is widely used in the field of breathable coating fiber or medical science [9-10]. Water vapor permeability(WVP) is the key property for application to breathable coating fiber. (omitted)

  • Chitosan and Algin are known as a natural polymers. Biodegradable films were prepared by solution blend method in the weight ratio of natural polymer(low, medium, high-Chitosan, Algin) for the purpose of useful bioimplants. The possibility of bioimplants, which were prepared from natural polymers as a skin substitute and food wrapping materials were evaluated by measuring biodegradability. This biodegradable films were inserted in the back of rats and their biodegradability was investigated by hematological change evaluation as a function of time to biotransformation. It was found that these values of biodegradable films give some good results with short period test.

  • A low temperature ($65^{\circ}C$) thermal deposition process was developed for depositing a silver coating on thermally sensitive polymeric substrates. This low temperature deposition was achieved by chemical reduction of a silver alkylcarbamate complex with latent reducing agent. The effects of acetol as a latent reducing agent for the silver 2-ethylhexylcarbamate (Ag-EHCB) complex and their blend solutions were investigated in terms of reducing mechanism, and the size and shape of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) as a function of reduced temperature and time, and PVP stabilizer concentration were determined. Low temperature deposition was achieved by combining chemical reduction with thermal heating at $65^{\circ}C$. A range of polymer film, sheet and molding product was coated with silver at thicknesses of 100 nm. The effect of process parameters and heat treatment on the properties of silver coatings was investigated.

  • Polyethylene, has long history and is widely used, was researched due to good electrical properties by many authors. But PE under stress has the critical defects of space charge accumulation and tree growth, so various methods such as catalyst, additives and blend to improve these problems have been execute, of which we selected blending method. As in our previous papers we investigated electrical conduction, dielectric and AC dielectric breakdown characteristics, we did DC dielectric breakdown characteristics in this paper. We selected pure LLDPE, pure EVA and LLDPE films mixed with EVA as specimens, which were mixed with the weight percentages of 50, 60, 70 and 80[wt%] to be thin film. DC applying voltage speed was 500[V/sec]. The relation between dielectric breakdown characteristics and the variations of super structure due to mixing was investigated, and especially trap level at amorphous region, threshold energy increment of conductive electron at free volume were considered.

  • The compatibility and the surface structure of blends of poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile) (SAN) with either poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) or hydrolyzed PMMA (H-PMMA) were studied in terms of film thickness, interaction, and surface free energy difference on the basis of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), attenuated total reflection Fourier transform IR spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy. The XPS measurement showed that the surface enrichment of (PMMA/SAN) blends with different AN contents of SAN and with different carboxyl acid contents of PMMA was dependent on the molecular interaction, the surface free energy difference between components and the sample preparation history. It was found that the compatibility of H-PMMA and SAN was reduced with increasing carboxyl acid content of PMMA.

  • Polysulfone/organophilic layered silicate nanocomposites were prepared in the range of 0.25 to 9 wt% of organophilic-layered silicate by solution blend. Nano-hybridized films were cast from the blend solution. Exfoliation and intercalation of the polysulfone/organophiliclayered silicate nanocomposite films were confirmed by an X-ray diffractometer and a transmission electron microscope. Surface morphologies of polysulfone/organophilic layered silicate nanocomposite films were determined by a scanning electronic microscope and an atomic force microscope. When the organophilic layered silicate was added more than 1.5 wt%, the surface roughness (RMS) was rapidly increased because clusters of intercalated organophilic layered silicate particles existed on the polysulfone/organophilic-layered silicate film surface. Surface tension revealed an upward tendency over the contents of 1.5 wt% organophilic layered silicate in polysulfone/organophilic layered silicate nanocomposite. The change of surface morphology in polysulfone/organophilic layered silicate nanocomposite were affected by nano scale dispersed and intercalated organophilic layered silicate particles.
