Human senses have been studied widely. Many studied are being actively conducted to analyze correlations between two or more different senses. Among them, research on tactile visuality where a subject can indirectly experience visual sensation through tactile elements is also progressing in various fields. In this study, we analyzed color information by having subjects perceive sandpapers with different roughness through tactile sense, then having them choose a color that is reminiscent of the tactile sensation. Unlike existing tactile-visuality studies allowing the perception of indirect visual sense by using tactile sense, this study shows that it is possible to analyze with quantitative value by representing visual image perceived by tactile sense as a color. This study will contribute to emotional evaluation research that combines two or more of the senses felt by humans, and especially is considered to be useful as basic data when conducting research about tactile visuality or auditory tactile sense.
The light intensity which represents the relative amount of brightness and darkness is very important feature to discern the color hue and its relevant information. With this aim, we devise a new optical system and method to analyze the light intensity. Our suggested system including a phototransistor and white-high-brightness chip light-emitting diode intend estimate the contrast value utilizing Image Research Institute(I.R.I.) Hue & Tone samples which includes 120 color sheets arranged by the color hue and tone. As a result, we confirmed that the brightness of the color checker can be accurately estimated by a high-brightness light-emitting-diode optical system.
An estimation algorithm based on training of fuzzy logic system using back-propagation is proposed, in this paper, for determining cardiac output in the TAH. The proposed estimation utilizes only a motor current waveform generated from the moving actuator of the electromechanical TAH without using any extra transducers as an information source for estimation. In in vitro tests, the resultant estimation performance was acceptable to alppy the proposed algorithm to animal experiments and further clinical applications.
Classification in biomedical applications is an important task that predicts or classifies an outcome based on a given set of input variables such as diagnostic tests or the symptoms of a patient. Traditionally the classification algorithms would have to digest a stationary set of historical data in order to train up a decision-tree model and the learned model could then be used for testing new samples. However, a new breed of classification called stream-based classification can handle continuous data streams, which are ever evolving, unbound, and unstructured, for instance--biosignal live feeds. These emerging algorithms can potentially be used for real-time classification over biosignal data streams like EEG and ECG, etc. This paper presents a pioneer effort that studies the feasibility of classification algorithms for analyzing biosignals in the forms of infinite data streams. First, a performance comparison is made between traditional and stream-based classification. The results show that accuracy declines intermittently for traditional classification due to the requirement of model re-learning as new data arrives. Second, we show by a simulation that biosignal data streams can be processed with a satisfactory level of performance in terms of accuracy, memory requirement, and speed, by using a collection of stream-mining algorithms called Optimized Very Fast Decision Trees. The algorithms can effectively serve as a corner-stone technology for real-time classification in future biomedical applications.
With the application and development of biomedical techniques such as next-generation sequencing, mass spectrometry, and medical imaging, the amount of biomedical data have been growing explosively. In terms of processing such data, we face the problems surrounding big data, highly intensive computation, and high dimensionality data. Fortunately, cloud computing represents significant advantages of resource allocation, data storage, computation, and sharing and offers a solution to solve big data problems of biomedical research. In order to improve the efficiency of resource management in cloud computing, this paper proposes a clustering method and adopts Radial Basis Function in order to compress comprehensive data sets found in biology and medicine in high quality, and stores these data with resource management in cloud computing. Experiments have validated that with such a data-compression-based resource management in cloud computing, one can store large data sets from biology and medicine in fewer capacities. Furthermore, with reverse operation of the Radial Basis Function, these compressed data can be reconstructed with high accuracy.

In these days, the wearable devices have been developed for measuring biological data effectively. However, wearable devices have tissue allege and noise problem. Also, it is impossible for a remote center to identify the person whose data are measured by wearable devices, which could trigger a communication problem over treatment. To solve these problems, biometric measurement based on a non-contact method, such as face image sequencing is necessary. This makes it possible to measure biometric data without any operation and side effects. This system can monitor the biological signals of people in real time without allege and noise and simultaneously identify them. In this paper, we propose an authentication process while measuring biometric data, through a non-contact method.
We have developed MITS(Medical Information Transmission System) that captures, stores and manages the digitalized medical images and transmit them via LAN, and also have developed DSCW(Dedicated System for Clinical Ward) that enables to review the medical images and clinical laboratory test results transmitted via LAN at clinical ward. They were implemented on the 386 platforms, and interconnected via 10 Mbps LAN between department of radiology and clinical ward.
This paper is intended to trace and management of a medical specimen and its report in a hospital. To avoid missing and decaying specimen and to establish of order in the circulation of specimen, at the moment sampling, RFID tags for each are on examiner. And then, specimen is monitored easily, quickly and, correctly. We developed implementation LIS system has better CQI (Continuos Quality Improvement) using RFID and XML, ADO.net, ASP.net, C# 2.0. RFID technology replaces to an existing the bar-code system. Also for more convenience, we used a PDA-RFID module. The LIS system consists of main sorrel, SQL 2005, event display and analysis web page developed using asp.net 2.0 and sharing specimen data information using XML technology.
