신호교차로의 자전거 좌회전 운영방안 평가에 관한 연구 (Assessment of Bicycle Left-turn Traffic Control Strategies at Signalized Intersections)

  • 본 연구는 자전거 좌회전 교통류를 수용한 신호교차로 운영방안으로 Bike Box, Hook-turn, 그리고 6현시의 3가지 방식을 다양한 교통상황 및 조건하에서 평가하였다. 분석결과, Bike Box방식과 Hook-turn 방식 모두 대기공간의 크기가 신호운영 결과에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다. 비포화와 근포화 교통상황에서 Hook-turn과 Bike Box방식은 자동차지체 차이는 거의 없으나 자전거 지체는 Hook-turn이 Bike Box 방식에 비해 2.5-29.9초/대 높게 나타났다. 6현시 방식은 Bike Box 방식에 비해 자동차와 자전거 지체가 모두 매우 크게 나타났다. 포화 교통상황에서는 Bike Box방식이 Hook-turn과 6현시운영에 비해 자동차지체는 작게 나타났으나, 자전거지체는 자전거 교통량이 700대/시에서 6현시 방식보다 오히려 증가하였다. 자전거지체는 Hook-turn방식은 자전거교통량이 300대/시 이후, Bike Box방식은 500대/시 이후부터 지체가 급격하게 증가하였다. 그리고 Bike Box와 Hook-turn 방식 모두 대기공간이 증가시 자전거 지체가 매우 큰 폭으로 감소하였다. 또한 동-서 및 북-서 교통량 패턴 모두 Bike Box가 Hook-turn 방식보다 자동차와 자전거 지체가 작게 나타났다.

4지 신호교차로에서 효율적 자전거 교통류 처리방안 연구 (A Study on Efficient Management of Bicycle Traffic Flow at Four-Legged Intersections)

  • PURPOSES: This study aims to suggest a proper left-turn treatment method for the bicycle traffic flow at four-legged intersections. METHODS: Four types of crossing methods are proposed and analyzed : (1) indirect left turn, (2) direct left turn, (3) direct left turn on a Bike Box, and (4) direct left turn on bike left turn lane. The VISSIM simulation tests were conducted based on forty-eight operation scenarios prepared by varying vehicle and bicycle traffic volumes. RESULTS : The results from the four-legged signalized intersections suggest that (1) the indirect left turn is appropriate when vehicle demand is high, (2) the direct left turn is efficient on most traffic situation but the safety is a concern, (3) the direct left turn on a Bike Box is appropriate when bicycle demand is high while vehicle demand is not, and (4) the direct left turn on a bike left turn lane is appropriate when both vehicle and bicycle demand are low. CONCLUSIONS : The direct left turn of bicycle provides more efficiency than the indirect left turn at the four-legged intersections but to apply the methods and to study more, advanced evaluation methods, related law, and insurance programs are needed.

수상 자전거의 동력전달장치 설계 (Design of Power Transmission System of a Water Bike)

  • The power transmission system has always been considered critical for a human powered boat(or water bike) since it first showed up at Human Powered Vessel Festival. Mechanical problems, such as abrasions and other damages of the gear system for the power transmission, lead to poor durability and low efficiency of a boat. This paper described mechanical problems and a design process of power transmission system and then suggested the method to solve the problems. It is selected a module and a type of gears that are structurally stable thus can transmit the power durable. Especially the lower gear box is applied to CRP(contra rotating propeller) system for improving the structural stability and the propeller efficiency as well. As the results, the upper and lower gear box are designed and manufactured. And from the trial test, it is confirmed that the power transmission system is reliable.

  • PURPOSES: This study proposes a novel method based on microscopic simulation models to evaluate bicycle passing ways in mixed traffic flow conditions at signalized intersections. METHODS: Both operational efficiency and safety are taken into consideration in the evaluation. A widely used performance measure, delay, is used for evaluating the operational efficiency. Regarding the safety evaluation, surrogate safety measures (SSM) to represent traffic conflicts and the level of crash severity, DeltaS and Max.DeltaV, are applied in the proposed method. RESULTS: Extensive simulations and statistical tests show that an integrated bike-box way is identified as the best in terms of operational efficiency and safety. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed method and outcomes of this study will be valuable for bicycle traffic operations and facility design.

3지 교차로에서 자전거 신호운영방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Bike Signal Operation Methods at Three-Legged Intersections)

  • 현재 우리나라에서 자전거가 교차로를 횡단할 때 차량, 보행자와의 상충위험 그리고 긴 대기시간 등 많은 문제가 발생하고 있으며, 이는 최근 녹색교통정책에서 관심 받고 있는 자전거 이용의 활성화를 저해하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 3지 신호교차로를 대상으로 자전거교통류가 연속성, 편의성을 유지하면서 안전하게 횡단할 수 있는 적절한 신호운영방안에 대해 분석하였다. 먼저 자전거의 좌회전 통행방법에 따라 간접좌회전 방법(통행방법1), 전용차로에 서 직접좌회전 하는 방법(통행방법2), Bike Box에서 직접좌회전 하는 방법(통행방법3)으로 크게 3가지로 나누고 여기에 차량교통량, 자전거교통량에 변화를 주어 54개의 시나리오를 작성하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 가정된 네트워크를 구축한 후 VISSIM을 이용하여 시뮬레이션을 실시하였다. 효과척도는 신호교차로 접근로에서의 차량과 자전거의 지체시간과 정지횟수를 적용하였다. 3지 신호교차로의 지체시간 및 정지횟수를 분석한 결과 차량교통량이 많고 자전거통행량이 적은 곳에서는 간접좌회전 방법(통행방법1), 차량교통량과 자전거통행량이 많은 곳에서는 전용차로에서 직접좌회전 방법(통행방법2), 차량교통량과 자전거통행량이 적은 곳에서는 Bike Box 방법(통행방법3)이 적합한 것으로 분석되었다.

다기준의사결정론을 적용한 자전거 과속방지턱 설계기법 연구 (Methodology for Designing Bicycle Speed Hump Using Multi-critiria Decision Making Process)

  • PURPOSES : Effective speed management is necessary for preventing traffic crashes on the road. Speed hump is known as an effective tool for managing speed. Unlike existing studies which are mainly focused on humps for vehicles, this study proposed a novel method to determine design parameters for bicycle speed humps based on a multi-criteria decision making process. METHODS : Three objectives including the effectiveness of speed reduction, bicycle safety, and user's comfortability were incorporated into the proposed evaluation framework for determining design parameters. A multi-criteria value function was also derived and utilized as a part of the proposed method. RESULTS : Extensive simulations and statistical tests show that an integrated bike-box way is identified as the best in terms of operational efficiency and safety. CONCLUSIONS : It is expected that the outcomes of this study can be a valuable precursor for developing design guidelines for bicycle road and facility.

해안 가로의 지속가능성 향상을 위한 가로 시설물 연구 - 제주도 해수욕장 주변 가로시설물을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Street Facilities for the Sustainability Improvement of the Coastal Street - Focused on the Street Facilities around Jeju Island Beach -)

  • In Korea, which has three sides of the sea, various waterfront spaces are being developed and developed along with various coastal landscapes. However, there are a lot of cases that do not consider the regional characteristic of the coast or the characteristic of the coastal landscape. In many cases, the street facilities cause the landscape degradation and the use inconvenience because of incongruity with the scenery, aging and lax management. Therefore, it is necessary to reflect the specificity of the coastal landscape in planning and directing the street facilities, harmonizing with the surrounding natural environment, and consideration of sustainability. However, there is no research or planning index for sustainable street facilities considering the coastal characteristics. Therefore, this study suggests plan elements to improve the sustainability of the street facilities on the shore and proposes them as basic plan elements, and suggests what kind of improvements should be made to improve the sustainability of coastal facilities in Korea. Based on the plan elements derived from the plan, we checked the problems and complementary points of coastal street facilities in Korea by analyzing the current status of the street facilities around the Jeju Island beach from a sustainable point of view, and suggested plan indicators that should be supplemented to improve sustainability. We surveyed the street facilities such as walkway blocks, benches, pagoda, drinking fountain, trash cans, bicycle shelters, fences, guide maps, streetlights, and shower rooms in 10 beaches in Jeju Island. This study analyzed the sustainability characteristics of the each factor of these facilities by surveying the reflectivity of the 23 plan indicators from the six aspects derived from the sustainability planning factor as conformity, partial reflection, non - reflection, and nonconformity. The results of the analysis showed that the functional aspect was the highest with 68.3%, the material aspect (53%), the landscape aspect (22.3%), the productive aspect (14.7%) and the morphological aspect (12.2%), and maintenance / management (10.6%). In addition, the facilities with the lowest fitness in each aspect are bicycle shelter in landscape aspect, bicycle storage box and trash can in form aspect, shower room in material aspect, trash can in functional aspect, showroom, guide maps and drinking fountain in product aspect, showroom In maintenance aspect. In order to improve the sustainability of coastal facilities in the future, it is necessary to complement the administrative and landscape aspects. In coastal facilities, it is necessary to consider the sustainability planning index, especially for showers, taking into account the specificity of beaches. Consideration should be given to various aspects of sustainability for bike shelters and trash facilities. Through this study, we have proposed the plan elements to systematize, supplement, and improve the planning index for sustainability improvement in coastal facilities planning.

사물 인터넷과 액세스 코드 배포 기반의 경제적인 공공 자전거 공유 시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Cost-effecive Public Bicycle Sharing System based on IoT and Access Code Distribution)

  • 본 논문에서는 사물 인터넷과 액세스 코드 배포가 가능한 스마트폰 애플리케이션을 기반으로 하는 공공 자전거 공유 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다. 스마트폰 사용자는 애플리케이션을 사용해 자전거 대여 신청을 하면 서버에서 암호화된 액세스 코드를 받게 되고, 이 코드는 도킹 스테이션에서 자전거의 잠금을 해제하는 용도로 사용되며 자전거 반환 시에도 동일한 코드가 사용된다. 스테이션의 하드웨어 프로토타입은 라즈베리 파이, 아두이노, 키패드, 모터드라이버와 같은 사물 인터넷 디바이스를 기반으로 하여 구현되었으며, 스마트폰 애플리케이션은 기본적으로 액세스 코드를 이용한 공유 자전거 대여 및 반환 기능과 더불어 사전에 자전거를 예약할 수 있는 부가 기능도 포함하고 있다. 구현한 시스템을 테스트 해 본 결과 3~4초의 매우 적은 지연시간을 보여주고 있어 효율적인 시스템임을 알 수 있다. 본 시스템은 단일 콘트롤 박스에서 다수의 자전거를 관리할 수 있도록 구현할 수 있으며, 사용자 역시 스마트폰 애플리케이션만으로 시스템을 이용할 수 있어 비용 효율적이라 여겨진다.
