  • This study investigates the dynamic magneto-mechanical behavior of magnetization-graded ferromagnetic materials Terfenol-D/FeCuNbSiB (MF). We measure the dynamic magneto-mechanical properties as a function of the DC bias magnetic field ($H_{dc}$). Our experimental results show that these dynamic magneto-mechanical properties are strongly dependent on the DC bias magnetic field. Furthermore, the dynamic strain coefficient, electromechanical resonance frequency, Young's moduli, and mechanical quality factor of Terfenol-D/FeCuNbSiB are greater than those of Terfenol-D under a lower DC bias magnetic field. The dynamic strain coefficient increases by a factor of between one and three, under the same DC bias magnetic field. In particular, the dynamic strain coefficient of Terfenol-D/FeCuNbSiB at zero bias achieves 48.6 nm/A, which is about 3.05 times larger than that of Terfenol-D. These good performances indicate that magnetization-graded ferromagnetic materials show promise for application in magnetic sensors.

  • In this paper, we designed a 2-stage CMOS operational amplifier with temperature compensation function using 2-poly 4-metal 0.35 $\mu$m standard CMOS technology. Using two bias circuits, the positive temperature coefficient(PTC) and the negative temperature coefficient(NTC) of the bias circuit are canceled out each other. When reference current circuit is simulated that it has a temperature coefficient of -150 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ with a temperature change from 0 $^{\circ}C$ to 120 $^{\circ}C$. Also the proposed circuit has a temperature coefficient of -0.011 dB/$^{\circ}C$ of DC open loop gain with the same temperature range.

  • Silver is known to have such characteristics as low shear strength, good transfer-film forming tendency, and good corrosion resistance. Silver thin films have been prepared by ion plating of physical vapour deposition (PVD) using both argon gas pressure and bias voltage of processing condition. After the silver films were prepared, the properties in them were examined by gas pressure and bias voltage of substrate. Their morphology and crystal orientation were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffractor. The properties of film were, also, studied to relate with morphology, X-ray diffraction pattern, and friction coefficient at vacuum ambient. The friction coefficient was stabilized remarkably on deposited films with increasing argon pressure for deposition. Also, the effect of increasing of the bias voltage for deposition resulted in lower friction coefficient and stability in $1.7$\times$10^{-4}$ torr. On the contrary, behavior of friction coefficient was stabilized on deposited films with decreasing the bias voltage in $1.7$\times$10^{-5}$ torr for deposition.

  • The magnetoelectric (ME) characteristics for Terfenol-D/PZT laminate composite dependence on bias magnetic field is investigated. At low frequency, ME response is determined by the piezomagnetic coefficient $d_{33,m}$ and the elastic compliance $s_{33}^H$ of magnetostrictive material, $d_{33,m}$ and $s_{33}^H$ for Terfenol-D are inherently nonlinear and dependent on $H_{dc}$, leading to the influence of $H_{dc}$ on low-frequency ME voltage coefficient. At resonance, the mechanical quality factor $Q_m$ dependences on $H_{dc}$ results in the differences between the low-frequency and resonant ME voltage coefficient with $H_{dc}$. In terms of ${\Delta}E$ effect, the resonant frequency shift is derived with respect to the bias magnetic field. Considering the nonlinear effect of magnetostrictive material and $Q_m$ dependence on $H_{dc}$c, it predicts the low-frequency and resonant ME voltage coefficients as a function of the dc bias magnetic field. A good agreement between the theoretical results and experimental data is obtained and it is found that ME characteristics dependence on $H_{dc}$ are mainly influenced by the nonlinear effect of magnetostrictive material.

  • This paper studied the speech parameters less affected by the human emotion for the development of the robust speech recognition system. For this purpose, the effect of emotion on the speech recognition system and robust speech parameters of speech recognition system were studied using speech database containing various emotions. In this study, mel-cepstral coefficient, delta-cepstral coefficient, RASTA mel-cepstral coefficient and frequency warped mel-cepstral coefficient were used as feature parameters. And CMS (Cepstral Mean Subtraction) method were used as a signal bias removal technique. Experimental results showed that the HMM based speaker independent word recognizer using vocal tract length normalized mel-cepstral coefficient, its derivatives and CMS as a signal bias removal showed the best performance of 0.78% word error rate. This corresponds to about a 50% word error reduction as compare to the performance of baseline system using mel-cepstral coefficient, its derivatives and CMS.

  • Ti-containing amorphous carbon (a-C:Ti) films shows attractive mechanical properties such as low friction coefficient, good adhesion to various substrate and high wear resistance. The incorporation of titanium in a-C films is able to improve the electrical conductivity, friction coefficient and adhesion to various substrates. In this study, a-C:Ti films were depositied on Si wafer by closed-field unbalanced magnetron (CFUBM) sputtering system composed two targets of carbon and titanium. The tribological properties of a-C:Ti films were investigated with the increase of DC bias voltage from 0 V to - 200 V. The hardness and elastic modulus of films increase with the increase of DC bias voltage and the maximum hardness shows 21 GPa. Also, the coefficient of friction exhibites as low as 0.07 in the ambient. In the result, the a-C:Ti film obtained by CFUBM sputtering method improved the tribological properties with the increase of DC bias volatage.

  • Diamond-like carbon(DLC) films were deposited on silicon substreates by using an RF plasmaassisted CVD apparatus; the effects of deposition conditions such as CH4 gas pressure and substrate bias voltage on DLC film friction and wear were examined in both friction and scratch tests. In friction tests critical loads at which the friction coefficient increases abruptly depend on substrate bias voltages: critical loads deposited at a bias voltage of -100 V exceed those deposited at other bias voltages. Critical loads are correlated with DLC film hydrogen content. Critical DLC film loads in scratch tests depended considerably less than in friction tests. The friction coefficient of DLC films depends on neither substrate bias voltage nor CH4 gas pressure.

  • Titanium nitride films have been prepared on various substrates (silicon wafer, HSS) by cathode arc ion plating process to measure microhardness, adhesion and wear-resistant behaviors by changing the substrate bias voltages (0∼-300V), thickness and roughness. Microhardnesses were measured by micro vickers hardness tester, the adhesion strengths were evaluated by acoustic signals through the scratch test with incremental applied load. As the substrate bias voltages were increased, the {111} orientation was predominant, the microhardnesses and adhesion strengths of tool steel were observed to be stronger than those of without subatrate bias voltage. Adhesion strengths of the substrate bias were 4-7 times higher than those of without the substrate bias, confirmed by SEM with EDX. Wear resistances were used pin-on-disk tribotester and TiN costing reduced the abrasive wear. As the substrate bias was increased, the weight loss and the friction coefficient was decreased.
