An action-selection-mechanism(ASM) has been proposed to work as a fully connected finite state machine to deal with sequential behaviors as well as to allow a state in the task program to migrate to any state in the task, in which a primitive node in association with a state and its transitional conditions can be easily inserted/deleted. Also, such a primitive node can be learned by a shortest path-finding-based reinforcement learning technique. Specifically, we define a behavioral motivation as having state-dependent value as a primitive node for action selection, and then sequentially construct a network of behavioral motivations in such a way that the value of a parent node is allowed to flow into a child node by a releasing mechanism. A vertical path in a network represents a behavioral sequence. Here, such a tree for our proposed ASM can be newly generated and/or updated whenever a new behavior sequence is learned. To show the validity of our proposed ASM, experimental results of a mobile robot performing the task of pushing- a- box-in to- a-goal(PBIG) will be illustrated.

The purpose of this study was to investigate a motivation system about science learning and interest in science among elementary, middle & high school students and analyze on the their relations. For this, the questionnaires on interest in science that developed by Kind et al., (2007) were selected and translated. After that, second-grade 80 students, fourth-grade 87 students, sixth-grade 107 students, eighth-grade 123 students and eleventh-grade 128 students were required to accomplish a questionnaire on behavioral inhibition system/behavioral activation system about science learning (SL-BIS/BAS), interest in science. Based on these materials, SL-BIS/BAS by student's variables and relations of between the system to interest in science have been analyzed. The result of this study shows the followings. First, the sensitivity about SL-BIS was no significant difference in School levels. But sensitivity about SL-BAS and interest in science in elementary and high school was higher than it in middle school. Second, there were low negative correlation with SL-BIS and interest in science, and relatively high positive correlation with SL-BAS and interest in science. Through the results of this study, relations of motivation to related variables, and the motivation by student's variables are identified. These results would be helpful for teachers to understand the difference about motivation by students' variables and to make a plan for the appropriate strategies for learners.
The current study aims to examine what determinants have influences on voluntary self-disclosure in the usage of micro-blogging. Even though the usages of micro-blogging have increased at an exponential rate in South Korea, it has been not well understood the process in which people voluntarily disclose their self-information. In this regard, we tried to examine self-disclosure process on micro-blogging based on Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). For this purpose, attitudes towards self-disclosure, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control were set as the antecedents to self-disclosure behavior. The influences of factors including privacy concern, playfulness, informational motivation for social participation, and relational motivation on the attitude were also investigated. The results of an online survey revealed that attitude toward self-disclosure, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control anticipated the self-disclosure behavior at a statistically significant level. The attitude was not influenced by privacy concern, informational and relational motivation, but by playfulness. The implications of these results are also discussed.
The purpose of this study was to identify the reexamination effects of behavioral activation·inhibition scale(Choi & Huh, 2010) on self-determination in order to analysis situational structure for P·E class which is perceived by students. To obtain the purpose, 656 high-school students from Gyeonggi-do area answered questionnaire using convenient sampling method. Data which is obtained through self-administration was analyzed using by the frequency analysis, multiple reguression analysis, EFA, and CFA with SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 16. Results were as followed. First, the more students have friend relation, teacher behavior, emotion change, and positive class attitude that are sub-factors of behavioral activation·inhibition, the more they have self-determination. Second, the less students have typical class structure, negative teacher's attitude, punishment, and lack of self-efficacy, the more they have self-determination. Overall results were discussed for practical application in P·E class.

Korean Internet shopping malls, which provide customers not only with convenient shopping experiences but also with purchasing, warehousing, shipping, and customs clearance services, have been playing a significant role in rapidly transforming Korean consumers into global consumers especially in purchasing fashion goods. Utilizing Ajzen and Fishbein(1980)'s Behavioral Intention Model, which postulates that behavioral intention is determined by attitude and subjective norm, this study identified behavioral intentions toward purchasing foreign fashion goods through Korean Internet shopping malls and the differences of behavioral intentions according to consumers’purchasing experiences on the Internet shopping malls. The data were gathered by surveying female university students living in the Seoul metropolitan area, Korea, and 222 questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. Mean, standard deviation, factor analysis, t-test, cross tabulation, and $\chi$$^2$ analysis were used. The results indicated that purchasers had more favorable attitudes and subjective norms and higher behavioral intentions than non-purchasers. With respect to attitude, there were significant differences in behavioral beliefs and evaluation of outcomes for the variety and scarcity value factor. With respect to subjective norm, there were no significant differences in normative beliefs and motivation to comply toward friends, people who had purchasing experiences, fashion magazines. and celebrities between the two groups.
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there was a gender difference in motivating university students to decrease their sodium intake and to identify effective motivating factors. Within the protection motivation theory (PMT) framework, a survey questionnaire was developed to measure participants' perceptions on the severity of and the vulnerability to risk of serious diseases due to the high sodium intake, as well as the effectiveness (response efficacy) and the ability to perform preventive measures (self-efficacy). Behavioral intentions on five specific practices (checking nutrition label, consuming more fruits and vegetables, consuming less soups, avoiding spicy and pungent food, purchasing less instant or restaurant foods) related to decreasing sodium intake were also included. A total of 294 usable response data were collected from university students (92 male, 202 female) in Busan and Gyeongnam in June 2015 and analyzed using IBM SPSS 22. Severity was the highest (4.04) PMT factor followed by response efficacy (3.72), self-efficacy (3.42), and vulnerability (3.26). Compared to male students, female students thought that the threat was more severe (t=6.035, p<0.001) and reducing sodium intake would be effective to prevent serious illnesses (t=4.724, p<0.001), but their vulnerability and self-efficacy perceptions were not different from male students. Among the five items measuring behavioral intention, female students were more likely to increase fruits and vegetables consumption (t=3.811, p<0.001), while male students were more likely to avoid spicy and pungent foods (t=2.336, p=0.020). Based on findings of this study, the recommended strategy to effectively motivate university students to lower their sodium consumption level is the development of campaign focused on increased vulnerability perception, response efficacy, and ease of practicing preventive measures instead of emphasizing the severity of the consequences.
It was well received that well grounded behavioral theories were important in the development of effective nutrition education programs, but there are only a few programs available for Korean women. The objective of this study was to develop nutrition education programs for childbearing-aged women in Korea. Based on the findings of the needs assessment for the program and theoretical backgrounds, we developed behaviorally oriented tailored nutrition education program including motivation (MT), modifying (MD) and maintenance (MA) stages. The key concepts of the stages were motivation promotion for MT, increasing behavioral capabilities for MD, and strengthening self-management and building favorable environmental condition for MA. The education program was intended to be need in individual nutrition counseling, but it could be well used for group education by developing materials using the relevant contents. The primary users of the program were nutrition educators, however it could be also used by clients as needed. The introductory chapter provided dietary assessment tools and nutrition education tips. MT chapter included subjects such as nutritional status screening, costs of inappropriate nutrition and weight management, benefits of eating right, and activities for motivation promotion. MD stage chapter dealt with topics of healthy weight, knowledges and skills for better eating habits and physical activity status, and activities related to setting tailored behavioral objectives. MA stage focused on facilitating self management skills and building helping relationships. Each stage underlined activities using various educational tools in order to promote active participation of the client (s). For better use of this program, it was recommended to conduct program validation study.
This study applied customer perspective to find out ways how to protect customers' privacy by themselves. It does so by examining the factors which affect customer privacy protection behaviors. Based on the Privacy Act, this study developed the construct of Privacy Rights awareness and finds the law's effect on privacy awareness and behavioral change. The study finds that there exists a significant difference in privacy protection behavior according to privacy rights awareness. Independent variables are as follows: Five variables (Perceived vulnerability, Perceived severity, Perceived response effectiveness, Perceived barriers, Privacy Rights awareness) were tested as critical variables influencing Behavioral Intention in PMT model. Privacy awareness had a moderating effect on the relationship between perceived severity and privacy protection behavior. This study would contribute on theoretical expansion of Protection Motivation Theory and also provide practical implications for effective ways to promote behavioral changes.
The purpose of this study was to examine differences in motivation of the tourists, who visited the Daegu Ole Palgong mountain courses, according to the slow tourism tourists' demographic characteristics and use-behavior, and to examine the relationships between motivation and the degree of satisfaction of tourists and behavioral intention. Also, it was to present motivations and characteristics of slow tourism tourists and the accompanying managerial implications. In order to achieve this research purpose, a survey was conducted from May 8, 2010 to May 23, 2010 on the tourists who visited Daegu Ole Palgong mountain courses. The results of testing the hypotheses through empirical analysis were as follows. First, differences in motivations according to demographic characteristics and demographic characteristics and the use behavior of the tourists were partially adopted. Second, there were significantly positive (+) relationships between the motivations of visitors to the Daegu Ole Palgong mountain courses and the overall degree of satisfaction. Finally, the overall degree of satisfaction with the visits to Daegu Ole Palgong mountain courses had significantly positive (+) relationships with revisit intentions. These imply that it is necessary to provide differentiated strategies and programs and inducing strategies in accordance with the results presented. as well, marketing strategies to enhance the degree of satisfaction of the tourists should be considered.

This study was conducted to understand the relationships among adolescents' academic personality types (APT), learning behavioral types (LBT) and self-determinative learning motivations (SDLM). Regarding the measuring tools, the U&I APT test developed by Man-kwon KIM and Jong-cheol HAN (2002) and the learning motivation test translated by Kyeong-jin MIN (2006) were used. The study collected data from a total of 237 adolescents. First, gender did not influence the APT and LBT, and in terms of the introjected regulation as in the SDLM, female students were observed to have greater than the male students. Second, the normative type as in the APT was understood to have an identified regulation, an integrated regulation and an internal motivation as in the SDLM higher than those of the behavioral type or ideal type. Third, the normative type would be less rebellious and work harder to achieve a goal compared to the other types. Fourth, when adolescents have this motivation more voluntary and internal, they pursue greater goals for themselves, trying harder to fulfill their goals. The SDLM appeared to be related to most of the LBT.
