This study attempts to find out the users' attitudes regarding interior design(for finishing, moods, and elements of interior design) and suggests the attitude model of interior design for the apartments, For this purpose, a field survey has been carried out with 321 households living in the apartments in Pusan. The relationships between the residents' characteristics and their attitudes toward interior design were examined in view of developing more diverse interior design alternatives for the apartments. The major findings are as follows: 1. Most residents in the apartments are interested in making diversified dwelling units and want to have diverse interior design alternatives. 2. The users' attitudes regarding interior design are significantly different according to the function of each room(master bedroom, living room kitchen, and bath room) and the household characteristics(age of housewife. income, and family life-cycle). 3. The attitude models of interior design are suggested as 3 types(6 models)according to residents' housing area and income.These findings could be used as useful data for developing diverse design alternatives to correspond with users' preferences.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual conditions of storage space and to plan the desirable storage space in apartment based on the results of the investigatiiov. The personal interview and phisical trace method were used for this study. The sample was taken from 50 housewives living in apartments on 30pyong. The results were analyzed by SAS package program. The major findings were summarized as follows: 1) Total amount of storage space was from 6.65$m^3$ to 28.84$m^3$ and the mean was 13.01$m^3$. 2) Storage space of each room was deficient, especially bedroom II and III. 3) The number of family member was related to the satisfaction of storage space.

The purpose of this study is to fined out the characteristics of using & change of the residential space according to the children age and family life cycle. The results of this study are as follows: The first, as children grow up, children's activity space changed from living room to the private room, and housing condition was related to the frequency of each activity. The second, as children grow up, family's sleeping pattern changed, and this change effected the number of private rooms for sleeping and the use of the extra room. The third, changes of the using of dwelling space come out several pattern, increasing bedroom number through reconstruction, exchange of An-band and children room, parents' sleeping space move to living room, and change the function of rooms. The change pattern of the correspondence to the housing needs differed from each family life cycle stage.

Macao, a city with three sides bounded by water, is hot and humid in weather in more than six months of a year. This uncomfortable weather induces the frequency of operating air-conditioners. Choice of location for installation of air-conditioner in a building will affect the performance of cooling effect and thermal comfort on the occupants, which in turn will affect the indoor air quality (IAQ) of the building. In the paper, investigation of distribution on carbon dioxide, room air temperature and velocity, as well as air diffusion performance index (ADPI) of a single bedroom in Macao is studied by using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software FLOVENT 3.2. Simulations of locating the air-conditioner at 4 different walls will be done and comparisons and analyses of the results will be performed to decide a proper location for the air-conditioner for obtaining good thermal comfort.

The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of residential interior design according to social classes in Korean television dramas. To achieve the study purpose content analysis through slides and video tapes was used. Eighty three houses out of twenty eight dramas from 1990 to 1996 were classified into three classes ; upper class middle-upper class middle-lower class. Those houses were analyzed based one the five review points : total interior images finishing materials window treatments furniture and accessories. The results of the study were as follows ; (1) In the general characteristics of the house in Korean television dramas there were distinct differences in age job of householders and house types by classes. (2) In the characteristics of living-room interior design in the television dramas there were distinct differences according to social classes in interior images floor coverings furniture styles and accessories. (3) In the characteristics of master bedroom in the television dramas there were a little differences according to classes. (4) In the characteristics of kitchen and dining room in the television dramas there were differences according to classes

The purpose of this study was to suggest the spatial structure among residential behaviors in relation to work space. To find the structure, Multi-Dimensional Scaling analysis was used. Respondents were 349 middle income housewives living in apartments in the area of Caopital region. Data were collected through the questinnaire survey. For the future residential interior design, following points were sugtested. A laundary space neess to be developed independently , being separated from both bathroom and kitchen/dining space. A new area which will give housewives some territoriality and also function as home office needs to be considered. A space configuration which satisfies the organic relationships among laundary behaviors such as washing dying, ironing and folding , needs to be systematically planned, with two adjoining separate zones of wet and dry utility . The present bathroom nees to be more incorporated to the private bedroom rather than to workspace.

This study focuses on wardrobes to examine how the terms have been changed by comparing traditional Korean furniture in Chosun Dynasty and contemporary furniture since the traditional furniture terms and forms have been changed like our life culture. For chests and wardrobes, approximately 26 terms were used in Chosun Dynasty. However, only five of them are currently used for top panels, hinges, drawers, mirrors, and columns. For bedroom cabinets, 27 terms are used and 4 of them are changed with the same meaning. The change of the terminology results from the life culture mostly. While the Chosun Dynasty furniture terms were mostly presented as the Korean and Chinese language, in the contemporary furniture ones Korean and Chinese together with English are used. The English terms' usage results from hardwares imported from overseas. The terms derived from the three different languages are presented not only in the wardrobes but also other pieces generally.

The objective of this study is to analyze the residential space as designed by Richard Meier thereby grasping its main characteristics and historical development. Richard Meier has developed his own peculiar architecture based on Modernism. He has solved problems of modern architecture by combining the form elements of Le Corbusier with Mies van der Rohe's architecture which pursued the beauty of structure and proportiov. Meier's houses, sculpture-like in forms, are characterized by clear distinction and variations of the interior spaces. The clear separation between a large, two-story high living room and a tiny, cozy bedroom securing the privacy, endows the interions with variation and vitality, while simple white walls reveal the good shape of the space. The houses also unfold the diverse spaces one after another as one steps into inside. His interiors, shaped by simple walls and settled functionally, has inherited the rationality in modern architecture. Richard Meier has established his independent working world by applying his own design method and languages based on the rationality in Modernism.

This study aimed to examine academic researches about apartment unit plans and consumer's opinions, and then to analyze the corelationship between the two, thus identifying the differences between the reality of housing market and consumers' opinionsl. On the analysis of the apartment unit plans($66m^2{\sim}164m^2$) provided by top 8 construction companies from March 2004 to December 2008. The remarkable change compared to existing apartments is an increase in the number of bays. This displays construction companies are responding to consumer' opinions actively. However, there were spaces which did not or passively reflect consumer's opinions enough. Especially, front side allocation of bedrooms beside master bedroom, kitchen/dining room and L-D-K & LD-K installation of a door between entrance and a living room. These are opinions that companies need to make efforts to reflect on apartment unit plans as much as possible.

This study was conducted to develop standards for evaluating what extent the physical environments of housing which can cope with the needs of the aging society. To set up the evaluation items of housing for the elderly, the evaluation items were formulated after analyzing the items or indices presented by the previous studies. This study was proceeded with in such an order as setting up the scope of evaluation, setting up the areas of evaluation, and setting up the items of evaluation. The scope of evaluation was limited to the indoor spaces of housing as it was thought that the elderly spend much more time at indoors, considering their physical characteristics. The areas of evaluation were composed of seven areas; general matters of housing(14 items), bedroom(35 items), living room(24 items), kitchen(29 items), bathroom(45 items), toilet(40 items), and staircase(15 items). The items of each area included those relevant to general matters, heating and ventilation, light source, openings, and related equipment. Therefore, the items of the evaluation areas were 202 in total.
