  • The discourses of creative city have been developed as a development and rehabilitation policy or plan in the contexts of globalization or deindustrialization society mainly progressed by Western capitalist nations, and there are a variety of effects due to the implementation of creative city in different national and local conditions. Many nations or cities have adapted and practiced the idea of creative city as a policy of development or rehabilitation without its critical examination. The purpose of this study is to make a conceptual framework of newly interpreting creative city, particularly focused on creative industry and class. The framework of creative city as a becoming locality consists of culture and art, creative actor and place continuously interacting, and it will take an active role to solve a variety of problems in the cities or regions due to globalization or deindustrialization. Creative city as a becoming locality should be developed in a close relation with the real situations in the future.

  • As smartphones support a variety of applications and their memory demand keeps increasing, the design of an efficient memory management policy is becoming increasingly important. Meanwhile, as nonvolatile memory (NVM) technologies such as PCM and STT-MRAM have emerged as new memory media of smartphones, characterizing memory references for NVM-based smartphone memory systems is needed. For the deep understanding of memory access features in smartphones, this paper performs comprehensive analysis of memory references for various smartphone applications. We first analyze the temporal locality and frequency of memory reference behaviors to quantify the effects of the two properties with respect to the re-reference likelihood of pages. We also analyze the skewed popularity of memory references and model it as a Zipf-like distribution. We expect that the result of this study will be a good guidance to design an efficient memory management policy for future smartphones.

  • With industrialization in urban area communities containing local cultures are becoming hard to be preserved. Therefore, this study aims to develop acquisition policy of record as an way to activate the community by using the locality records containing strong regional characteristics. This study examined the history, current status and problems of district in Daegu Yakjeon alley and extracted the types of records and the components of communities. As an acquisition plan, this study developed step-by-step acquisition policy based on the results of analysis on the archives of Shiheung Varagi Archives case, the records of Chongneung Village Records case and Stadtteilarchiv Ottensen.

  • The growth of red and black pines in Muan, Seochen, Gapyeong and Kochang areas was compared by means of the growth of annual ring width and stem analysis to study the process of damages caused by pine needle gall midge. Red pine forest of Seocheon area began to suffer by pine needle gall midge from 1961 and the damage was to becoming severe from 1967. The damage became so intense tha tmany forests are withering to death from spring of 1975. Black pine forest also began to suffer from 1973. Red pine forest of Muan area was supposed to be suffered from 1973. Red pine forest of Kochang area suffered by pine needle gall midge from 1967. It seems that the damage became severe from 1973 and that black pine forest was also badly damaged from that time. Red pine forest of the control plot, Gapyeong area, began to suffer from 1967 and it also became intense from 1973. Although the areas of Seocheon, Muan, Kochang, and Gapyeong are different from each other in terms of locality and the infitration period of pine needle gall equally from 1967 due to mass development of population or other factors and the damage became more intense from 1973. Black pine forest was also badly damaged from that time. Black pine seems to be stronger in insect resistant than red pine. This can be justified by the fact that it began to suffer belatedly in each area and the degree of damage is moderate. The damage of Seocheon area is the severest following Kochang. Muan area is relatively moderate but the forest becoming decrease in growth.

  • In recent years, many research revealed plant-insect interactions are becoming unstable because of climate change, human activities and grazing effect. In this work, it is aimed to disclose that how climate of two different years is influencing on insect community at certain locality in Mongolia. The data on the insect community are collected, covering full flowering season from June to August in 2014 and 2015. In order to include all species of insects in Udleg Station, data was collected in three different sites. One of them was around edge of forest, another one was in ungrazed area or inside the fence that has been kept for more than 9 years and last one was in grazed area. Weather was a perceptible difference during two year's study. This climate differences significantly influenced on the insect community. In 2014, overall 305 insect species were recorded, in which 124 insect species in order of Diptera, 44 in Lepidoptera, 33 in Coleoptera, 31 in Hemiptera, and 73 in Hymenoptera were determined. But in 2015, these number of species noticeably decreased, and total 150 insect species were recorded, in which 58 in Diptera, 26 in Lepidoptera, 13 in Coleoptera, 12 in Hemiptera, and 41 in Hymenoptera were determined.

  • The Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the Chosun dynasty and Japan and the United States of America etc. began signing procedures from Feb. 1876. Thus, Busan port became an open port to foreign vessels in 1876. This has resulted in Busan port becoming the greatest port in Korea. This study explored records which were made by the Chosun dynasty and Japan on the opening and development of Busan port. The results are as follows ; According to making treaties between the Chosun dynasty and foreign countries, Chosun dynasty gradually opened a door to the international community. Various institutions were established in and around Busan port by Chosun and Japan. For example, maritime customs, a court of justice, police station by the Chosun side, a Japanese consulate, the Board of Trade for Japan etc by the Japan side. Records made by or related to these institutions and on the development of the Busan port during the open-port period and the Japanese colonial period were preserved at the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies, the National Institute of Korean History, and the Busan Metropolitan Simin Municipal Library.

  • Recently, policies of metropolitan councils and primary local governments are diversely developing for the creation of child friendly cities. This study attempts to deal with implications that discussions on child friendly cities, which are recently becoming issues of local communities, have as a form of universal welfare on dimensions of child welfare along with discussions of the direction to which those implications can be applied. For this, this study was conducted largely in three parts. First, it observes the contents of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child which is the spirit and basic foundation of child friendly cities and through this, it examines child welfare paradigms as a universal form of welfare and second, it observes the historical origin of child friendly cities that have modern significance along with the main characteristics of child friendly cities, and third, it explores methods with which to apply locality based community resource connections that currently exist to policies of child friendly cities.

  • Currently, urban identity is a corporate management strategy of the past, and it includes the unique history and cultural heritage of the region, and it is expected to enhance competitiveness and locality. In response, the city's identity design of 31 municipalities in Gyeonggi Province is moving away from the past, building a futuristic, concise and modern image, and building differentiated identity using geometric artificial motifs. However, despite the presence of urban identity in the past, Symbolmark's boundaries and benchmarks are becoming increasingly ambiguous as it replaces CI or acts as CI and BI by developing new BIs instead of renewals. Moreover, there are cases where the slogan containing vision is used as BI, which requires professional CIP management by presenting the status analysis and direction of municipal governments in Gyeonggi Province. Thus, in this study, the theoretical background analysis and academic study of 31 municipalities in Gyeonggi Province were conducted, and the final analysis space was analyzed by schematizing how the essential meaning of symbolism is expressed and interpreted.
