圓통形셸 의 音響調節 에 관한 實驗的 硏究 (A Study on the Natural Frequencies of the Sound Emitted by Thin Conical Shell)

  • The determination of the natural frequencies and mode shapes for thin conical shell is an important step not only in the investigation of the dynamic response of the composite structures such as missile cone, mose firings, but also in the analysis of the acoustic behavior of bells. A Rayleigh-Ritz procedure was used to determine the natural frequencies for a certain class of mode shapes of a thin conical shell built in on the edge with the smaller radius and free on the other edge. Both bending and extensional energy are included in the analysis. This paper described the experiments on the two natural frequencies which are present in association with two preferential modal directions, as a result of imperfection of the thin conical shell. Experimental work was conducted on two different bronze conical shells. One of these was specially designed to the effects of the adding distributed mass to the end of the conical shell. The other shells were identical in all dimensions except that of the thickness to the end of the conical shell. In this paper, the effect of a adding mass to a conical shell was investigated. Experimental result was that the magnitude of the natural frequency rate and the increase of depth of beat frequency depend upon the location of adding lumped mass on the surface of the conical shell.

그리드/연계선 사고 시 풍력발전단지의 응동 분석 (Analysis of Response of a Wind Farm During Grid/inter-tie Fault Conditions)

  • In a wind farm, a large number of small wind turbine generators (WTGs) operate whilst a small number of a large generator do in a conventional power plant. To maintain high quality and reliability of electrical energy, a wind farm should have equal performance to a thermal power plant in the transient state as well as in the steady state. The wind farm shows similar performance to the conventional power plant in the steady state due to the advanced control technologies. However, it shows quite different characteristics during fault conditions in a grid, which gives significant effects on the operation of a wind farm and the power system stability. This paper presents an analysis of response of a wind farm during grid fault conditions. During fault conditions, each WTG might produce different frequency components in the voltage. The different frequency components result in the non-fundamental frequencies in the voltage and the current of a wind farm, which is called by "beats". This phenomenon requires considerable changes of control technologies of a WTG to improve the characteristics in the transient state such as a fault ride-through requirement of a wind farm. Moreover, it may cause difficulties in protection relays of a wind farm. This paper analyzes the response of a wind farm for various fault conditions using a PSCAD/EMTDC simulator.

Posture Change Affects Indices of Pupil Size - Korean Males in Their Twenties

  • To determine the effect of posture change on autonomic activity and to investigate valid parameters to reflex the autonomic activity from time-series pupil size data, a posture-related experiment was performed with 15 subjects, which involved measuring their electrocardiograms and pupil sizes. The experimental procedure consisted of three-sequence postures-supine, sitting and upright-for 5 minutes each, with rest sessions between postures. The subjects were notified of the entire experimental procedure. The parameters of the subjects' heart rate variability showed significant differences between the postures (heart rate: 63-70-80 beat, normalized low frequency power: 28-50-75, normalized high frequency power: 72-49-25 and ratio: 0.5-1.2-4.4 in supine-sitting-upright position respectively) as did the parameters of their mean pupil sizes (41300-53900-53700 pixels respectively) and the major frequencies (the third trend: 0.23-0.2-0.18 Hz respectively) of their pupil size variability according to changes in their autonomic activities induced by posture change. The experiment thus proved that posture change affects autonomic activity and that such activity can be estimated by the parameters of pupil size as similar as heart rate variability.

Characteristic wave detection in ECG using complex-valued Continuous Wavelet Transforms

  • In this study the complex-valued continuous wavelet transform (CWT) has been applied in detection of Electrocardiograms (ECG) as response to various signal classification methods such as Fourier transforms and other tools of time frequency analysis. Experiments have shown that CWT may serve as a detector of non-stationary signal changes as ECG. The tested signal is corrupted by short time events. We applied CWT to detect short-time event and the result image representation of the signal has showed us that one can easily find the discontinuity at the time scale representation. Analysis of ECG signal using complex-valued continuous wavelet transform is the first step to detect possible changes and alternans. In the second step, modulus and phase must be thoroughly examined. Thus, short time events in the ECG signal, and other important characteristic points such as frequency overlapping, wave onsets/offsets extrema and discontinuities even inflection points are found to be detectable. We have proved that the complex-valued CWT can be used as a powerful detector in ECG signal analysis.

음향광변조기를 이용한 고분해능의 헤테로다인 간섭식 열팽창 측정기술 (High resolution heterodyne interferometric technique with AOM for measuring the thermal expansion)

  • 열팽창계수의 정확한 측정은 재료과학이나 공업기술 분야에서 가장 중요한 요구량 중의 하나이다. 음향광변조기(AOM)를 이용한 고분해능 간섭식 열팽창계를 제작하여 성능검사를 하였다. 이 계는 이중광로 헤테로다인 간섭계와 복사열 전기로로 구성되어, 정밀한 변위의 측정과 시료의 신속한 가열 및 냉각이 가능토록 하였다. 또한 레이저의 주파수 안정화를 위하여 2차 맥놀이 주파수를 이용한 3종모드 안정화 He-Ne 레이저를 제작하였으며, 이때의 주파수 안정도는 5$\times$$10^{-9}$이었다. 제작된 계의 길이 측정은 실온에서 1100k온도영역에서 나노미터 정도의 정밀도를 주었다.

  • 일반적으로 거리 탐지용 레이더로 FM-CW 레이더 방식을 사용한다. 이 경우 FM-CW의 신호원으로 사용 되는 전압제어발진기의 제어전압과 출력주파수의 비선형성이 측정결과에 영향을 주게 된다. 최근 비선형성 보정에 대한 신호처리와 하드웨어적인 방법으로 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기준 선호를 이 용하여 전압제어발진기의 비선형성으로 인해 측정결과에 발생하는 거리 단면의 왜곡을 보정하는 신호처리 기 법을 제안하였다. 이에 대한 성능을 검증하기 위해서 간단한 실험을 수행하였고, 결과를 제시하였다. 제안한 기법에 의해 거리 단면 왜곡의 영향 감소와 분해능이 향상됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • FM-CW 레이다 시스템에서는 이동 목표물 및 기상 현상 등의 원격탐지를 위하여 각 거리에 따른 변이 주파수 및 추가적인 도플러 스펙트럼의 추정이 필요하다. 이러한 주파수 대역에 따른 신호의 크기는 목표물의 탐지 여부 및 추적을 위한 매우 중요한 파라메터이다. 그러나 레이다 운용환경에서는 매우 큰 크기를 갖는 클러터등의 성분이 효과적으로 제거되지 않는다면 시스템의 성능이 현저히 저하될 수 있다. 즉 레이다 시스템에서의 위상잡음으로 인하여 신호 및 클러터 등이 스펙트럼 영역에서 분산되어 나타나는 경우 클러터 제거뿐만 아니라 추정 주파수에도 심각한 악영향을 미치게 된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 위상잡음이 목표물 정보 추출을 위한 주파수 추정에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

시간에 따라 변하는 회전 속도와 함께 회전하며 전개하는 보의 진동 분석 (Vibration Analysis of a Deploying and Spinning Beam with a Time-dependent Spinning Speed)

  • This paper presents the vibration analysis of a deploying beam with spin when the beam has a time-dependent spinning speed. In the previous studies for the deploying beams with spin, the spinning speed was time-independent. However, it is more reasonable to consider the time-dependent spinning speed. The present study introduces the time-dependent spinning speed in the modeling. The Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and von Karman nonlinear strain theory are used together to derive the equations of motion. After the equations of motion are transformed into the weak forms, the weak forms are discretized. The natural frequency and dynamic response are obtained. The effect of the time-dependent spinning speed on the dynamic response is studied.

곤충과 새의 비행방법 (How Birds and Insects Fly)

  • Using steady state aerodynamic theories, it has been claimed that insects and birds cannot fly. To make matters worse, insects and birds fly at low Reynolds numbers. Therefore, a recurring theme in the literature is the importance of understanding unsteady aerodynamic effect and how the vortices behave when they separate from the moving surface that created them. In flapping flight, birds and insects can modify wing beat amplitude, stroke angle, wing planform area, angle of attack, and to a lesser extent flapping frequency to optimize the generation of lift force. Some birds are thought to employ two different gaits(a vortex ring gait and a continuous vortex gait) and unsteady aerodynamic effect(Clap and fling, Delayed stall, Wake capture and Rotational Circulation) in flapping flight. Leading edge vortices may produce an increase in lift. The trailing edge vortex could be an important component in gliding flight. Tip vortices in hovering support the body weight of the hummingbirds. Thus, this study investigated how insects and birds generate lift at low Reynolds numbers. This research is written to further that as yet incomplete understanding.

전자파 차폐실의 차폐효과 측정방법 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improvement of Method for Measuring the Shield Performance of Shielding Enclosures)

  • The shielding enclosure is very essential device to test the electromagnetic wave power generated by various RF equipments. Some standards for the shielding enclosures were established to test them in right method. Generally, There are IEEE-STD-299 and MIL-STD-285 and NSA-65-6 of the method for measuring the effectiveness of shielding enclosures, the IEEE-STD-299 combined MIL-STD-285 and NSA-65-6 about the method for measuring shielding effectiveness(SE) about 1969 years, but, the measurement point of 299 proposal is many points(including shielding wall, seam, coner beat, shielding door, etc) and demand long time of measurement. To improve SE test method for shielding enclosures was studied and suggested to develop a proper test procedure. First, we measure reference level as frequency range and H/V polarization, secondly, measure leakage point, and finally, measure shield effect and calculate SE. Our method has a merit of the less measurement point than IEEE-STD-299, and shorten time than 299, and define representation SE of shielding enclosure effectively.
