1980년대 학교교사에 대한 보, 기둥 및 접합부 사이의 파괴모드 분석 (Analysis of Failure Modes among Beams, Columns, and Joints for School Buildings Constructed in the 1980s)

  • As earthquakes continue to occur in Korea in recent years, seismic evaluation and retrofit of existing school buildings have been carried out. Many domestic school buildings were built using or referring to standard drawings. Therefore, if the overall structural characteristics of a school building can be known first based on standard drawings, it can be provided as valuable data for detailed seismic evaluation. For this reason, this study investigated the weak structural components and failure modes by comparing the strength of beams, columns, and joints constituting standard school buildings constructed in the 1980s. The evaluation was performed for different types of standard drawings and different material strengths. The results showed that the joint was mainly the weakest due to the eccentricity, and the failure modes were partially changed depending on the material strength.

철골 모멘트골조로 보강된 철근콘크리트 건물의 내진성능 평가 (Seismic Performance Evaluation of Non-Seismic Reinforced Concrete Buildings Strengthened by Perimeter Steel Moment Frame)

  • This paper is to investigate the retrofitting effect for a non-seismic reinforced concrete frame strengthened by perimeter steel moment frames with indirect integrity, which ameliorates the problems of the direct integrity method. To achieve this, first, full-scale tests were conducted to address the structural behavior of a two-story non-seismic reinforced concrete frame and a strengthened frame. The non-seismic frame showed a maximum strength of 185 kN because the flexural-shear failure at the bottom end of columns on the first floor was governed, and shear cracks were concentrated at the beam-column joints on the second floor. The strengthened frame possessed a maximum strength of 338 kN, which is more than 1.8 times that of the non-seismic specimen. A considerable decrease in the quantity of cracks for the strengthened frame was observed compared with the non-seismic frame, while there was the obvious appearance of the failure pattern due to the shear crack. The lateral-resisting capacity for the non-seismic bare frame and the strengthened frame may be determined per the specified shear strength of the reinforced columns in accordance with the distance to a critical section. The effective depth of the column may be referred to as the longitudinal length from the border between the column and the foundation. The proposed method had an error of about 2.2% for the non-seismic details and about 4.4% for the strengthened frame based on the closed results versus the experimental results.

부착-슬립을 고려한 철근콘크리트 접합부의 이력 손상 모델 개발 (Hysteretic Damage Model for Reinforced Concrete Joints Considering Bond-Slip)

  • 이 논문에서는 철근과 콘크리트 사이의 부착-슬립을 실제적으로 고려한 철근콘크리트 접합부의 이력 손상 모델을 제안하였다. 슬립을 가시화하기 위해 콘크리트와 철근의 변위장이 서로 다른 프레임 요소를 개발하였다. 파이버 단면 개념으로부터 콘크리트, 철근 그리고 부착에 대한 적합방정식을 정의하였다. 부분적인 제하 및 재재하 상태를 고려하기 위해 철근 이력곡선의 수정이 이루어졌다. 단조증가 상태의 국부적 부착응력-슬립 관계는 손상 계수에 따라 슬립이 역전될 때마다 갱신하였다. 구속된 콘크리트에 매입된 철근 시험체와 기초에 정착된 철근콘크리트 기둥 시험체, 그리고 보-기둥 부재의 수치해석을 통해 모델의 정확성을 검증하였고, 부착-슬립 효과를 고려함으로써 하중 이력에 따른 에너지 소산 정도를 평가할 수 있었다.

정적실험을 통한 조적채움벽체가 비내진상세 RC 골조의 내진성능에 미치는 영향 평가 (An Experimental Study on the Influence of Masonry InFilled Walls on the Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Frames with Non-seismic Details)

  • 본 논문에서는 국내 비내진상세 조적채움벽 RC 골조의 내진성능을 파악하기 위하여 실규모 크기의 비내진상세 조적채움벽 RC 골조를 대상으로 정적실험을 실시하였으며, 기존 비내진상세 RC 골조 의 정적 실험결과와의 비교 분석을 통하여 조적채움벽체가 RC 골조의 내진성능에 미치는 영향에 대하여 평가하였다. 실험 결과. 조적채움벽 RC 골조 실험체는 조적채움벽체에 의한 압축력으로 기둥, 보, 접합부 등 골조 전체에 균열 등의 손상이 발생하였으며, 접합부 전단균열이 벌어지고 철근이 노출되면서 취성 파괴되었다. 한편, 조적체움벽 RC 골조 실험체의 수평하중과 층간변형각 관계는 벽체 슬라이딩 균열, 기둥 균열 등으로 강성이 저하되었으며, 철근 항복이후 최대 내력에 도달하고 접합부 균열의 확대, 철근 노출 등으로 내력이 최대 내력의 40% 정도로 저하되었다. 조적채움벽체로 인하여 기둥 상 하단 및 접합부에만 집중되던 손상이 기둥, 보, 접합부 등 골조 전체에 분산되어 발생하였으며, 기둥의 전단균열이 아닌 접합부의 전단균열의 확대로 최종 파괴되었다. 또한, 조적채움벽체로 인하여 RC 골조의 강성은 12.42배, 내력은 3.63배 증가한 반면에, 강성 증가에 따라 최대 내력 시의 층간변형각은 0.18배, 파괴시의 변형은 절반 이하로 감소하였다.

  • 현 논문에서는 전편 논문에서 제안한 3차원 격자요소를 활용하는 스트럿-타이 모델 방법의 타당성 및 효율성을 검증하기 위해 파괴실험이 수행된 13개의 슬래브-기둥 접합부 및 51개의 비틀림 보 등의 극한강도를 평가하였으며, 또한 3축 방향의 하중을 받는 교각코핑부에 대한 설계를 수행하였다. 현 연구의 방법에 의한 철근콘크리트 슬래브-기둥 접합부 및 비틀림 보의 극한강도 평가결과는 실험결과, ACI 318 설계기준을 비롯한 세계 주요설계기준, 그리고 몇몇 연구자의 방법에 의한 평가결과 등과 비교하여 현 연구방법의 타당성을 검증하였다. 교각코핑부의 설계결과는 ACI 318 설계기준의 단면법 및 AASHTO-LRFD의 스트럿-타이 모델 설계기준에 의한 설계결과와 비교하여 그 결과의 타당성을 검토하였다.

Inelastic design of high-axially loaded concrete columns in moderate seismicity regions

  • In regions of high seismic risk, high-strength concrete (HSC) columns of tall buildings are designed to be fully ductile during earthquake attack by providing substantial amount of confining steel within the critical region. However. in areas of low to moderate seismic risk, the same provision of confining steel is too conservative because of the reduced seismic demand. More critically, it causes problematic steel congestion in the beam-column joints and column critical region. This will eventually affect the quality of concrete placing owing to blockage. To relieve the problem, the confining steel in the critical region of HSC columns located in low to moderate seismicity regions can be suitably reduced, while maintaining a limited ductility level. Despite the advantage, there are still no guidelines developed for designing limited ductility HSC columns. In this paper, a formula for designing limited ductility HSC columns is presented. The validity of the formula was verified by testing half-scale HSC columns subjected to combined high-axial load and flexure, in which the confining steel was provided as per the proposed formula. From the test results, it is evident that the curvature ductility factors obtained for all these columns were about 10, which is the generally accepted level of limited ductility.

Systems to prevent the load resistance loss of pallet racks exposed to cyclic external force

  • This study aims to determine the cause of the load resistance loss in storage racks that can be attributed to external forces such as earthquakes and to improve safety by developing reinforcement systems that can prevent load resistance loss. To this end, a static cyclic loading test was performed on pallet racks commonly used in logistics warehouses. The test results indicated that a pallet rack exposed to an external force loses more than 50% of its load resistance owing to the damage caused to column-beam joints. Three reinforcement systems were developed for preventing load resistance loss in storage racks exposed to an external force and for performing differentiated target functions: column reinforcement device, seismic damper, and viscoelastic damper. Shake table testing was performed to evaluate the earthquake response and verify the performance of these reinforcement systems. The results confirmed that, the maximum displacement, which causes the loss of load resistance and the permanent deformation of racks under external force, is reduced using the developed reinforcement devices. Thus, the appropriate selection of the developed reinforcement devices by users can help secure the safety of the storage racks.

반복 하중을 받는 비내진 저층 RC 구조물의 외부 기둥-보 접합부의 거동 (Behavior of Non-seismic Detailed Low-Rise R/C Exterior Beam-to-Column Joints Subjected to Cyclic Loading)

  • 국내에서는 1988년부터 내진 규준이 시행되었으며, 따라서 그 이전에 지어진 저층 철근콘크리트 건물들은 내진 규준이 적용되지 않고 단지 축하중만을 고려하여 설계되었다. 그러므로 약한 지진이 발생하여도 이러한 건물들은 심한 피해를 입을 수 있다. 본 논문에서는, 내진 규준이 시행되기 이전에 지어진 비내진 저층 철근콘크리트 모멘트 저항 골조의 지진 발생시 거동과 피해를 알아보기 위하여, 실제 존재하는 비내진 건물 중 3층 철근콘크리트 라멘조 공공청사 건물의 외부 적합부를 교차보가 있는 것과 없는 것의 2종류를 1/2의 실물크기로 제작하고, 횡방향 변위 제어로 반복하중을 가하여 실험을 수행하였다. 비내진 접합부의 가장 큰 특징은 적합부내의 횡보강근이 없다는 것이다. 실험을 통하여 균열의 형태, 강도${\cdot}$강성의 저하, 에너지 소산 그리고 기둥과 보 부재의 철근 미끄러짐을 조사하였다. 국내에서 규정하고 있는 최대지반가속도인 0.12g크기의 횡방향 하중을 가력하였을 경우에는 균열이 발생하지 않았으나, 횡방향 하중을 0.12g이상으로 증가할수록 교차보가 없는 외부접합부에서 전단균열이 발생하였다.

Influence of steel-concrete interaction in dissipative zones of frames: I - Experimental study

  • In the case of seismic-resistant composite dual moment resisting and eccentrically braced frames, the current design practice is to avoid the disposition of shear connectors in the expected plastic zones, and consequently to consider a symmetric moment or shear plastic hinges, which occur only in the steel beam or link. Even without connectors, the real behaviour of the hinge may be different from the symmetric assumption, since the reinforced concrete slab is connected to the steel element close to the hinge locations, and also due to contact friction between the concrete slab and the steel element. The paper presents the results and conclusions of experimental tests on composite portal eccentrically braced frames and beam-to-column moment-resisting joints, carried out within the CEMSIG Research Centre of the Politehnica University of Timisoara, in order to check the validity of the assumption stated above. Reference steel and composite specimens with and without connectors in the plastic zones have been tested under monotonic and cyclic seismic type loading.

An Experimental Study of Reinforced Concrete Beams with Closely-Spaced Headed Bars

  • The use of headed bars as opposed to standard 90- or 180-degree hooked bars in beam ends, beam-column joints or other steel congested areas for anchorage and bond has become more favorable due to the fact that steel congestion is often created by large bend diameters or crossties. This research mainly focuses on evaluating the code provisions regarding the use of headed bars. Nine simply supported rectangular concrete beams with headed longitudinal reinforcement were tested under a four-point monotonic loading system. The design clear spacing, which varies from 1.5 to 4.25 times the bar diameter, was the only parameter for the experimental investigation. The test results showed that the closely-spaced headed bars were capable of developing to full yield strength without any severe brittle concrete breakout cone or pullout failure. Bond along the bar was not sufficient due to the early loss of concrete integrity. However, the headed bars were effective for anchorage with no excessive moment capacity reduction. This implies that the clear spacing of about 2 times the bar diameter for headed bars may be reasonable to ensure the development of specified yield strength of headed bars and corresponding member design strength.
