An Investigation of Power Flow Mechanism in Beam-plate Built-up Structures with an Energy-absorbing Plate (보-판 결합 구조물에서 에너지 흡수체로 작용하는 판의 특성에 따른 파워 전달 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In the built-up structure consisting of a stiff beam and a flexible plate, Grice showed that the plate behaves as an energy absorber in narrow frequency bands(called plate blocking effect). This paper deals with such beam-plate coupled structures, where the plate is an energy absorber and the excited beam is an energy path. It is found that such energy dissipation can occur in the relatively broad bands, if different stiffnesses are used in the rectangular plate. It was experimentally verified by Heckl that the energies in terms of one-third octave band averages transferred to the plate(or dissipated in the plate) increase for increased plate damping. This Paper, however, shows that the energy absorption suddenly reduces at the certain narrow frequency bands where the plate damping effect upon the coupled beam is maximum. Also, in order to minimize energy transfer through the beam in terms of one-third octave band averages, it is advantageous to increase the plate damping closer to the excitation point All these results are based on the wane method.

  • In this paper, System performance parameters such as throughput, blocking probability and delay have been analyzed and expressed as a function of demanding traffic and service terminating probability, and we centers our discussion at particular downlink port of satellite switch which is capable of switching the individual spot beam and processing the information signals in the packet satellite communications with demand assigned multiple access technique. Delay versa throughput as a function of traffic parameters with several service terminating probability can be derived via mathematical formulation and simulation and the relative change of transmission delay was compared.

Evaluation of Physical Properties of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate/Silicone Emulsion for Radon Shielding Prepared by Electron-beam Irradiation (전자선 조사에 의해 제조된 라돈 차폐용 ethylene vinyl acetate/silicone 에멀젼의 물리적 특성 평가)

  • Radon, a carcinogenic substance generated from soil or building materials, have to be fundamentally blocked from entering indoors. In this study, ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/silicone emulsions with excellent mechanical and thermal properties and effective blocking of radon gas were prepared by using radiation technology. As the electron-beam irradiation does increased, a partially crosslinked structure was formed in EVA molecular chain, increasing tensile properties and adhesive strength. The EVA/silicone film showed excellent thermal stability without deformation. In addition, the non-irradiated EVA/silicone film showed a radon blocking rate of about a 75%, while the EVA/silicone film irradiated with 3 and 5 kGy showed an excellent radon blocking rate of over 90% due to the formation of crosslinked structure in the EVA molecular chain. These results indicated that the radiation technology can effectively block radon by forming a partially crosslinked structure of EVA/silicone emulsion to improve tensile property, adhesive strength, and deformation stability.

Principles and Applications in Multileaf Collimator for Radiation Therapy (방사선치료에 있어서 Multileaf Collimator의 원리와 그 응용)

  • A conventional treatment machine shapes x-ray fields by a set of dense metal collimators(jaws) built into the machine. These collimators are positioned by the therapist using hand controls in the treatment room, and usually remain stationary during treatment. The collimator jaws of treatment machines produce rectangular beams. Conventional beam shaping is accomplished through the use of a combination of these collimator jaws and secondary custom beam blocks attached to the accelerator beyond the collimator Jaws. The jaw positions for a particular field can be retrieved from a computer. One application of this increased capability is replacement of beam blocks for field-shaping with the MLC. There are three basic applications of the MLC. The first application is to replace conventional blocking. A second function of the MLC is related to conformal therapy, adjusting the field shape to match the beam's eye view projection of a planning target volume during treatment. The third application is the use of the MLC to achieve beam intensity modulation. The aim of this paper is to provide basic principle and to state fundamental concepts needed to implement the use of a multileaf collimator in the conventional clinical setting. The use of MLC field shaping is likely to save time and to incur a lower operating cost when compared to the use of beam blocks.

Anti-Reflection Coating Technology Based High Refractive Index Lens with Ultra-Violet Rays Blocking Function (반사방지 코팅기술 기반 자외선 차단 기능의 고굴절률 안경렌즈)

  • Ultra-violet rays are very harmful to eye health care. The blocking of ultra-violet rays and a reduction of optical reflection in the visible light range, which is to increase the share of transmitted light, and avoid the formation of ghost images in imaging, are important for the applications of polymer eyeglasses lenses. In this study, the high-refractive index polymer lenses, n=1.67, were fabricated by injection-molded method with the xylene diisocyanate monomer, 2,3-bis-1-propanethiol monomer, and benzotriazol UV absorber (SEESORB 709) mixture. To reduce the reflection of the polymer lens surfaces, multi-layer anti-reflection (AR) coatings were coated for both sides of the polymer lens using an E-beam evaporation system. The optical properties of the UV blocking polymer lens were characterized using a UV-visible spectrometer. The material properties of the thin films, which were composed AR coating layers, refractive index, and surface roughness, were analyzed by ellipsometry and atomic force microscopy. As a result, the fabricated polymer lens perfectly blocked ultra-violet rays below 395 nm with a blocking rate greater than 99%.

Study of Switching and Kirk Effects in InAlAs/InGaAs/InAlAs Double Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors

  • This paper investigates the two dominant but intertwined current blocking mechanisms of Switching and Kirk Effect in pure ternary InAlAs/InGaAs/InAlAs Double Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors (DHBTs). Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) grown, lattice-matched samples have been investigated giving substantial experimental results and theoretical reasoning to explain the interplay between these two effects as the current density is increased up to and beyond the theoretical Kirk Effect limit for devices of emitter areas varying from $20{\times}20{\mu}m^2$ to $1{\times}5{\mu}m^2$. Pure ternary InAlAs/InGaAs/InAlAs DHBTs are ideally suited for such investigations because, unless corrective measures are taken, these devices suffer from appreciable current blocking effect due to their large conduction band discontinuity of 0.5 eV and thus facilitating the observation of the two different physical phenomena. This enhanced understanding of the interplay between the Kirk and Switching effect makes the DHBT device design and optimization process more effective and efficient.

The Performance Analysis of a DS/CDMA Cellular System considering a Base Station Array Antenna and Imperfect Power Control (기지국 어레이 안테나와 불완전 전력 제어를 고려한 DS/CDMA 셀룰라 시스템의 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, the reverse link performance of a imperfect power controlled DS/CDMA cellular system that uses a base station array antenna which can effectively remove the multiple access interference is analyzed considering both beam forming algorithm and power control error in shadowing. The blocking probability of the DS/CDMA cellular system based on array parameters, $E_b/N_o$ and statistics of interference is derived, and then the system capacity corresponding to a certain blocking probability is calculated. On the assumption that the blocking probability is set 1%, the system capacity using MCGM algorithm with 12 antenna arrays is more increased maximum 32 times than that using a omni-directional antenna and about 2 times than that using MMSE algorithm, respectively.

  • 최근 고화질 및 대용량 영상의 등장으로 메모리 디바이스에 대한 연구가 활발하다. 메모리 디바이스의 oxide 층은 tunnel layer, trap layer와 blocking layer로 나누어지며, tunnel layer와 trap layer 사이 계면의 상태는 메모리 특성에 큰 영향을 준다. 한편, AlOx는 메모리 디바이스의 tunnel layer에 주로 적용되는 물질로서, AlOx를 형성하는 방법에는 진공공정을 이용하여 증착하는 방법과 알루미늄을 산화시켜 형성하는 방법이 있다. 그 중, 진공공정 방법인 RF 스퍼터를 이용하는 방법은 증착시 sputtering으로 인하여 표면에 손상을 주게 되어, 산화시켜 형성한 AlOx에 비해 막질이 좋지 않다는 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 우수한 막질의 메모리 디바이스를 제작하기 위하여 산화시켜 형성한 AlOx를 tunnel layer로 적용시킨 MOSCAP을 제작하여 메모리 특성을 평가하였다. 제작된 소자는 n-Si (1-20 ohm-cm) 기판을 사용하였다. Tunnel layer는 e-beam evaporator를 이용하여 Al을 5 nm 두께로 증착하고 퍼니스를 이용하여 O2 분위기에서 $300^{\circ}C$의 온도로 1시간 동안 산화시켜 AlOx을 형성하였으며, 비교군으로 RF 스퍼터를 이용하여 AlOx를 10 nm 두께로 증착한 소자를 같이 제작하였다. 순차적으로, trap layer와 blocking layer는 RF 스퍼터를 이용하여 각각 HfOx 30 nm와 SiOx 30 nm를 증착하였다. 마지막으로 전극 물질로는 Al을 e-beam evaporator를 이용하여 150 nm 두께로 증착하였다. 제작된 소자에서 메모리 측정을 한 결과, 같은 크기의 윈도우를 비교하였을 때 산화시킨 AlOx를 tunnel layer로 적용한 MOSCAP에서 더 적은 전압으로도 program 동작이 나타나는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 내구성을 확인하기 위해 program/erase를 103회 반복하여 endurance를 측정한 결과, 스퍼터로 증착한 AlOx를 적용한 MOSCAP에서는 24 %의 메모리 윈도우 감소가 일어난 반면에, 산화시킨 AlOx를 적용한 MOSCAP에서는 메모리 윈도우 감소가 5 % 미만으로 일어났다. 결과적으로 산화시킨 AlOx를 메모리소자의 tunnel layer로 적용한 MOSCAP에서 더 뛰어난 내구성을 나타냈으며, 추후 최적의 oxide 두께와 열처리 조건을 통해 더 뛰어난 메모리 특성을 가지는 메모리 디바이스 제작이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

  • CRT-based RSA algorithm, which was implemented on smartcard, microcontroller and so on, leakages secret primes p and q by fault attacks using laser injection, EM radiation, ion beam injection, voltage glitch injection and so on. Among the many fault injection methods, voltage glitch can be injected to target device without any modification, so more practical. In this paper, we made an experiment on the fault injection attack using abnormal source voltage. As a result, CRT-RSA's secret prime p and q are disclosed by fault attack with voltage glitch injection which was introduced by several previous papers, and also succeed the fault attack with source voltage blocking for proper period.

Microstructure, Hardness, and Fracture Toughness of Surface Composites Fabricated by High-Energy Electron-Beam Irradiation of Fe-Based Metamorphic Alloy Powders and VC Powders (철계 반비정질 합금 분말과 VC 분말을 고에너지 전자빔으로 투사하여 제조된 표면복합재료의 미세조직, 경도, 파괴인성)

  • In this study, surface composites were fabricated with Fe-based amorphous alloy powders and VC powders by high-energy electron beam irradiation, and the correlation of their microstructure with hardness and fracture toughness was investigated. Mixture of Fe-based metamorphic powders and VC powders were deposited on a plain carbon steel substrate, and then electron beam was irradiated on these powders without flux to fabricate surface composites. The composite layers of 1.3~1.8 mm in thickness were homogeneously formed without defects and contained a large amount (up to 47 vol.%) of hard $Cr_2B$ and $V_8C_7$ crystalline particles precipitated in the solidification cell region and austenite matrix, respectively. The hardness of the surface composites was directly influenced by hard $Cr_2B$ and $V_8C_7$ particles, and thus was about 2 to 4 times greater than that of the steel substrate. Observation of the microfracture process and measurement of fracture toughness of the surface composites indicated that the fracture toughness increased with increasing additional volume fraction of $V_8C_7$ particles because $V_8C_7$ particles effectively played a role in blocking the crack propagation along the solidification cell region heavily populated with $Cr_2B$ particles. Particularly in the surface composite fabricated with Fe-based metamorphic powders and 30 % of VC powders, the hardness and fracture toughness were twice higher than those of the surface composite fabricated without mixing of VC powders.
