This paper is concerned with the quantitative effect of design parameters on a stamped part of the auto-body. The considered parameters in this paper are the blank holding force, the draw-bead force, the blank size which greatly affect the metal flow during stamping. The indicators of formability selected in this paper are failures such as tearing, wrinkling and the amount of springback. The stamping process of the front side inner member is simulated using the finite element analysis changing the design parameters. The numerical results demonstrate that the blank holding force cannot control the local metal flow during forming although it controls the overall metal flow. The modification of the initial blank size considering the punch opening line ensures the local wrinkling and reduces the amount of springback after forming. The restraining force of draw-bead controls the metal flow in the local area and reduces the amount of excess metal. It is noted that the parametric study of design parameters such as blank holding force, the blank size and the draw-bead are very important in the process design of the complicated member.

The study was performed on the development of system in which the bead width can be controlled. In order to control the bead width, we designed the automatic seam tracking device by attaching the probe type strain gauge sensor, motor driving slide and encoder to check the moving distance, and interface card connected MCU(80Cl96KC) upside the speed controllable carriage. Seam tracking experiments were done by changing the bead width. We compared and analyzed the sampling data which were obtained by output voltage of strain gauge sensor and rotary encoder pulse every 50ms.
In GMA(Gas Metal Arc)Welding, the weld size that is a locally melted area of a workpiece is one of the most important considerations in determining the strength of a welded structure. Variations in the weld power and the welding heat flux may affect the weld pool formation and ultimately the size of the weld. Therefore, an accurate prediction of the weld size requires a precise analysis of the weld thermal cycle. In this study, a model which can estimate the weld bead geometry and a method for thermal analysis, including the model, are suggested. In order to analyze the weld bead geometry, a mathematical model was developed with transformed coordinates to apply to the horizontal fillet joints. A heat flow analysis was performed with a two dimensional finite element model that was adopted for computing the base metal melting zone. The reliability of the proposed model and the thermal analysis was evaluated through experiments, and the results showed that the proposed model was very effective for predicting the weld bead shape and good correspondence in melting zone of the base metal.
The structures distorted by welding have to be corrected. Since the correcting work needs a lot of costs and time, it is very important to minimize the buckling distortion due to welding of thin plate structure. Therefore the aim of this study is to investigate the effect of single bead on plate welding and fillet welding on the buckling distortion. In the single bead on plate welding, it was found that the welding speed and welding sequence were the most dominant factors on distortion. In the fillet welding, there were four typical buckling modes observed, and the welding sequence was the most influential factor on the buckling distortion. However typical distortion measuring method is not considered for the distortion correcting process costs of each buckling modes, therefore, in this study, the measuring method is developed to classify the buckling modes for torsion of specimen and buckling distortion depend on nodal point for the bead on plate welding specimen and fillet welds.

Generally, though we use the vision sensor or arc sensor in welding process, it is difficult to define the welding parameters which can be applied to the weld quality control. Especially, the important parameters is Arc Voltage, Welding Current, Welding Speed in arc welding process and they affect the decision of weld bead shape, the stability of welding process and the decision of weld quality. Therefore, it is difficult to determine the unique relationship between the weld bead geometry and the combination of various welding condition. Due to the various difficulties as mentioned, we intend to use Fuzzy Logic and Neural Network to solve these problems. Therefore, the combination of Fuzzy Logic and Neural network has an effect on removing the weld defects, improving the weld quality and turning the desired weld bead shape. Finally, this system can be used under what kind of welding process adequately and help us make an estimate of the weld bead shape and remove the weld defects.

In developing computer-aided design technology for optimization of stamping die design, it has been an important issue to treat the frictional constraint acting on the blank holder surface. The main goal of this work is to establish database of draw bead restraint force and clarify friction characteristic for various automotive sheet steels, which is essential in developing friction algorithm that can be used for CAD of stamping die design. Draw bead friction tester is used to evaluate the various parameters that affect the draw restraint force and the coefficient of friction for the cold rolled and the coated sheet steels such as drawing rate, lubricant type, surface property of material, etc.

Arc welding process is one of the most important technologies to join metal plates. Robotic welding offers the reduced manufacturing cost sought, but its widespread use demands a means of sensing and correcting for inaccuracies in the part, the fixturing and the robot. A number of problems that need to be addressed in robotic arc welding processes include sensing, joint tracking, and lack of adequate models for process parameter prediction and quality control. Problems with parameter settings and quality control occur frequently in the GMA(Gas Metal Arc) welding process due to the large number of interactive process parameters that must be set and accurately controlled. The objectives of this paper are to realize the mapping characteristics of bead width using a sensitivity analysis and develop the neural network and multiple regression method, and finally select the most accurate model in order to control the weld quality(bead width) for fillet welding. The experimental results show that the proposed neural network estimator can predict bead width with reasonable accuracy, and guarantee the uniform weld quality.
Acetobacter strains are bacteria that can synthesize cellulose when grown on an undefined medium containing glucose. Several culture conditions affecting cellulose production by Acetobacter sp. A9 were examined by cultivating cells under shaking cultures. The addition of buffering agents, such as 3-(N-morpholino) propanesulfonic acid (MOPS) and CaCO$_3$, increased cellulose production. It suggests that pH of culture medium is important to an economical mass cellulose production. Addition of bead (Ф10 w) to culture medium stimulated 'disintegrated bacterial cellulose' production.
To get the appropriate welding process variables, mathematical modeling in conjunction with many experiments is necessary to predict the magnitude of weld bead shape. Even though the experimental results are reliable, it has a difficulty in accurately predicting welding process variables for the desired weld bead shape because of nonlinear and complex characteristics of welding processes. The welding condition determined for the desired weld bead shape may cause the weld defect if the welding current/voltage/speed combination is improperly selected. In this study, the $2^{n-1}$ fractional factorial design method and correlation parameter were used to investigate the effect of the welding process variables on the fillet joint shape, and the multiple non-linear regression analysis was used for modeling the gas metal arc welding(GMAW)parameters of the fillet joint. Finally, a fuzzy rule-based method and a neural network method were proposed so that the complexity and non-linearity of arc welding phenomena could be effectively overcome. The performance of the proposed neuro-fuzzy system was evaluated through various experiments. The experimental results showed that the proposed neuro-fuzzy system could effectively check the welding conditions as to whether or not weld defects would occur, and also adjust the welding conditions to avoid these weld defects.
Tungsten Inert Gas(TIG) welding is today one of the most popular arc welding process because of its high quality welds and low equipment costs. Even if welding productivity increases with welding speed and current, this strategy is limited by the appearance of defects such as undercut and humping bead due to the depressed molten metal. The purpose of this study investigates the effect of He mixing ratio on the characteristics with high current and speed in TIG welding. The conclusions obtained permit to explain the arc start characteristics quantitatively and the maximum welding speed on stable bead formation with He mixing ratio for high current and speed TIG welding observed in experiments. Also through the relation of the maximum arc pressure and surface depression depth at high current and speed TIG welding, it made clear the mechanism of unstable bead formation.
