압축기용 라비린스 실의 동특성 해석 (Rotordynamic Analysis for Labyrinth Seals Used in Compressors)

  • The analysis of lateral hydrodynamic forces from the compressor labyrinth seals is presented. The basic equations are derived using a two-control-volume model for compressible flow. Blasius' wall friction-factor formula and jet flow theory are used for the calculation of the wall shear stresses and the recirculation velocity in the cavity. Linearized zeroth-order and first-order perturbation equations are developed for small motion about a centered position by an expansion in the eccentricity ratio. Integration of the resultant first-order pressure distribution along and around the seal defines the rotordynamic coefficients of the labyrinth seal. The rotordynamic analysis for the balance drum labyrinth seal of an ethylene refrigeration compressor is carried out. The results of rotordynamic characteristic of the labyrinth seal and comparisons with other types of seal, honeycomb seal and smooth seal, are presented.

  • According to the development of VLSI integration technology and getting bigger the circuit size, it is a significant problem to verify systemized circuit. The faster and more accurate verification has very significant meaning in the field of electronic industry because it can yield the product comparably faster and reduce the trial and errors. In spite of the presence of various kind of Integrated Circuits it's not always easy to get the right part. Besides, it is hard to find a vendor for a small quantity consumers like who develop prototype applications. In this study, we've tried to get the logical signals from the PC based device we've developed that correspondents with the real ICs. It can emulate decoder ICs, multiplexers, demultiplexers and basic logic gates.

Case Study on Global Software Education in Schools

  • With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, software(SW) education has become a necessity, not a choice of those who live in the digital age. Recently, many countries around the world have been actively promoting software education based on Computational Thinking(CT) for K-12 students, so software education in schools has bigger meaning as basic literacy education of future digital generation rather than coding skills. However, the integration of software education as a formal curriculum in schools is still ongoing in even other countries. Korea is also pursuing software education, but it is in the beginning stage. Therefore, we need to study the cases of other countries that have already started software education at the national level. In this paper, we first investigate the software education cases of three countries, e.g., UK, France and China with a respect of background & educational objective, development stage, and curriculum and we suggest education policies that software education can settle in Korea schools to foster a creative talented people.

  • The study has tried to address particular situations relating to HRM. In my paper I give suggestions based on the present state of Korean Corporations. They are from 2 view points. These view points include the level of vertical fitness as a basic task of strategic human resource management and the level of empowerment to the line managers. This study could be defined by examining the following question: What are the contingent factors and organizational policies that enable us to foresee levels of strategic integration and empowerment? We seem to require the wisdom of human resource management for establishing the foundation of presenting a standard.

  • DB Integration website(tentatively named Food Processing Aptitude Information Center, FPAIC) has been designed through a "high-value products development project(2013)". Basically, the project aims to secure connections between food raw materials and processing industry, a variety of information sources, and users's convenience. It also aims to build the industry-university-based mutual growth in the food industry through sharing of processing suitability and material research on food raw materials. FPAIC consists of raw material story, information of sample characteristics, food processing study, preceding research data, food industry trends, and understanding of food processing. The major database of research on Food Processing is provided on information of sample characteristics, and food processing study. Currently the web site has 36 raw material stories, 380 information on sample characteristics and food processing studies, 1,600 preceding research data about 31 food raw materials. The web site also provides information on 70 useful web sites, as well as 77 food industry trends, 27 basic information about food processing.

  • The aim of the current work is to investigate the numerical study of a nonlinear Volterra-Fredholm integro-differential equation with initial conditions. Our approximation techniques modified adomian decomposition method (MADM) and variational iteration method (VIM) are based on the product integration methods in conjunction with iterative schemes. The convergence of the proposed methods have been proved. We conclude the paper with numerical examples to illustrate the effectiveness of our methods.

  • To get the time response characteristics of the hydrostatic transmission, seaborne winch is modelde by using bond graphs. After modeling of its basic elements, it is represented as power flow, and the determination of variable causality. The state equations are derived by using CAMP. As dynamic stabilites and solutions are investigated by perturbation method and direct integration, winch system is stable. Simulations are performed under the conditions of low speed, high speed, and maximum tension. The pressure and flow rate of the hydrostatic transmission have a big overshoot. But when it is comparaed to the empirical data with simulation results, it is similar to each other. When a lead compensator is applied to improve response characteristics of the hydrostatic transmission, rise time and overshoot of the system are improved.

Development of an Elaborated Project-Based Learning Model for the Scientifically Gifted

  • This study was to investigate the elaborated project based learning model for scientifically gifted in the context of R & E project learning. It is important for the scientifically gifted to provide the appropriate learning environments instead of general learning model for the gifted. Although R & E project learning model is effective, the model has the limitations of managing the course for the scientifically gifted. To improve R & E learning model, the elaborated project based learning model was suggested with integration of both project based learning model and goal based scenario. The elaborated project-based learning model was comprised with 'basic learning process', 'elaboration through inquiry', and 'presentation and reflection'. To measure the satisfaction, eighty scientifically gifted students participated in the class. The result shows that learners were satisfied with the elaborated project-based learning up to 90%, and teachers were satisfied with this model up to 77%.

  • As more devices are used across various industries and their performance improves, artificial intelligence applications are being increasingly adopted. Hence, the rapid development of neural networks suitable for diverse devices can determine the competitiveness of companies. Machine learning operations (MLOps), which constitute a framework that supports neural network generation and its immediate application to devices, have become necessary for the development of artificial intelligence. Currently, most MLOps are provided by major companies such as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, which provide cloud services supported by large-scale computing power. In addition, various services are provided by the open-source project Kubeflow. We examine basic concepts and technology trends in MLOps and unveil additional functions required in industry.

  • 함정은 다양한 탑재장비들과 함정 플랫폼이 통합되어 성능을 발휘해야 하는 복합 무기체계이면서, 장기간의 획득기간이 소요되고 시제품이 바로 전력화 되어야 하는 특징으로 인해 독자적인 개발프로세스를 적용해 왔다. 그러나 최근 기술의 발전과 탑재장비의 복잡화에 따라 함정 획득 분야에도 시스템공학(SE) 절차의 적용이 필수불가결하게 되었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 함정 설계에서 아직까지 SE 절차는 기존의 절차와 융합되지 못하고 별도의 체계로 관리되고 있는데, SE 절차를 반영한 실질적인 통합 프로세스가 아직 정립되어 있지 않기 때문이다. 다양한 함정에 대해 SE 절차의 적용 및 설계 방법 개선 연구가 수행되었으나 통합 측면에서 성과는 부족하였다. 따라서 함정을 설계할 때 적용할 수 있는 SE 기반 통합 프로세스 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 기존 기본설계 프로세스와 SE 기반 프로세스의 통합을 통해 잠수함 기본설계 프로세스를 정립하였다. 이를 위해 함정 기본설계와 병행하여 SE 기반의 기술검토인 체계요구조건검토(SRR), 체계기능검토(SFR), 기본설계검토(PDR)을 수행하는 방법론을 제시하였다. 그리고 체계요구사항명세서(SSRS), 체계/부체계규격서(SSS), 체계/부체계설계기술서(SSDD) 등의 요구사항 문서들의 생성 및 관리를 위한 효율적인 프로세스를 연구하였다. 이러한 2가지의 프로세스를 통합하여 개선된 SE 기반 기본설계 프로세스를 구축하였다. 구축된 프로세스의 적용성을 평가하기 위하여 현재 기본설계를 진행중인 잠수함에 적용한 결과를 제시하였다. 이를 통해 잠수함의 효과적인 요구사항 관리, 산출물 작성 및 설계반영이 가능하였고, 요구사항과 추적성을 가진 각각의 산출물은 기본설계 시험평가 자료로도 즉각적으로 활용이 가능함을 확인하였다. 잠수함 이외에도 건조중인 다양한 함정 설계에서도 본 연구의 SE 기반 함정 기본설계 프로세스의 유용성이 기대된다.
