It is widely known that the sound insulation of soundproof panel is highly correlated to two factors, surface density of material and the frequency of noise. Accordingly, the character of traffic noise released in actual situation is important requisite for determining thickness to determine surface density and material of soundproof panel. This present study selected polymer panel with advantage of light weight and workability and evaluates according to frequency of traffic noise. Polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) were selected as subjects based on economic valuation and efficiency. The sound transmission loss of selected polymer panels were compared with the currently used panels such as polycarbonate (PC) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) depending on thickness and materials. As a result, PC showed the highest sound transmission loss followed by PMMA, HDPE, and PP in range of mass law. In terms of acoustic performance on thickness, the transmission loss increased with thickness of soundproof panel meanwhile coincidence dip was observed in lower frequency where had reduced transmission loss. Therefore, it is suggested that after determining target frequency, the kind of materials and thickness of soundproof panel need to be designed so that traffic noise can be more efficiently reduced.

The ultimate objective of periodontal therapy is not only stopping the progression of periodontal disease, but also promoting the regeneration of lost periodontal tissue. Guided Tissue Regeneration, which is based on the principle that the goal of periodontal regeneration can be achieved by preventing apical migration of gingival epithelium and blocking cells originating from connective tissue, has been developed and used as a clinical procedure, and although it has shown excellent results in connective tissue healing, there have not been many studies showing its effect on the regeneration of alveolar bone loss due to periodontal disease. The objectives of this study are to investigate the result of 12 months-long treatment following guided tissue regeneration using expanded polytetrafluoroehylene membrane, and to observe the presence of regenerated alveolar bone. Forty-one teeth from 28 patients with clinical diagnosis of periodontitis has been selected. In fifteen of those interproximal intrabony defects, only flap operation had been carried out, and designated as the control group. Twenty-six intrabony defects received e-PTFE membrane following flap operation, and designated as the experimental group. Eleven teeth whose membrane had been exposed were excluded from the experiment. Various measurements including probing depth, loss of attachment, probing bone level and gingival recession have been recorded at 6th month and 12th month, and the significance of the changes has been analyzed. The results are as follows: 1. Probing depth at 6th and 12th month has shown a significant decrease in both groups (p<0.01), but significantly higher decrease was found in the experimental group compared to the control at the month(p<0.05). 2. Loss of attachment at 6th and 12th month has shown a significant decrease in both groups, but significantly higher decrease was found in the experimental group compared to the control (p<0.05). 3. Probing bone level at 6th and 12th month has shown a insignificant decrease in the control group and significant decrease in the experimental group (p<0.01). Significantly higher decrease in probing bone level was found in the experimental group (p<0.05). 4. Gingival recession at 6th and 12th month has shown a statistically significant increase (p<0.05), and the control group showed higher increase compared to the experimental group although no statistical significance was found. As these results have shown, the use of e-PTFE membrane in intrabony pockets results in marked decrease in the loss of attachment and probing bone level. This seems to indicate that e-PTFE membrane may play a role in alveolar bone regeneration in intrabony defects.

This study selected five observational stations in the normal direction of Jinu-do(island) shoreline and observed water temperature, electrical conductivity and pressure from March, 2012 to January, 2013(about 11 months) and attempted to see the variation characteristics of ground watertable. This study wants to know : 1) External environment force factors(tide, climate, wave etc.) affecting ground watertable variation through time series and correlation analysis. 2) Spatial variations of ground watertable and electrical conductivity change by storm event. First, we found that the station at the intertidal zone was strongly affected by wave and tide level and the stations at sand dune and vegetation zone was affected by precipitation and tide level through time series data and correlation analysis. Second, during the storm event, we found that ground watertable and electrical conductivity are stabilized at the start line of sand dune and vegetation zone and transition zone between freshwater layer and seawater layer exists in the experiment area and is about 50~70 m from coastline of the south side of Jinu-do(island).

Acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS) is severe acute hypoxic respiratory failure state with dynamic impairment in oxygen and carbon dioxide transfer with the need for high levels of supplementary oxygen and a high minute ventilation. This syndrome is caused by pulmonary edema due to increased permeability of the alveolar capillary barrier by various factors. ARDS is an uncommon, but a potentially life-threatening complication. Therefore, immediate diagnosis and appropriate therapy must be performed. The present case is post-extubation ARDS immediately occurred in an orthognathic surgery patient who are healthy 19-year-old man. He rapidly recovered from ARDS without complication by early diagnosis and proper treatment. This case report was aimed to describe the process of the development, possible causes and the management of ARDS occurred in an orthognathic surgery patient

The purpose of this study is to develop the clothing safety teaching/learning plan in Home Economics based on the health belief model and to examine the effects of the course using the developed teaching/learning plan on the health belief. Based on ADDIE model, 6 clothing safety teaching/learning plans were developed by applying the health belief model. They consisted of three learning factors of 'harmful substances that can be exposed during the production, wear, wash, and storage of clothes and textile products', 'environment friendly fibers' and 'natural detergents'. Then they were implemented on 7 classes in middle school located in Gyeonggi-do Province from August 20 to September 7 in 2018. The health beliefs data collected before and after the course were analyzed with paired t-test with SPSS/win. As a result, the perceived threat(combination of perceived severity and perceived susceptibility), the perceived benefit, and the self-efficacy were significantly improved. And the perceived barrier was significantly reduced. In conclusion, the home economics clothing safety education course using the health belief model was meaningful as the safety education to enable middle school students to practice safe clothing life from harmful substances. The results of this study are expected to be helpful for activating safety education in home economics.

Road geometry is one of the many factors that cause crashes, but the effect on traffic accident depends on weather conditions even under the same road geometry. This study identifies the variables affecting the crash severity by matching the highway accident data and weather data for 14 years from 2001 to 2014. A hierarchical ordered Logit model is used to reflect the effects of road geometry and weather condition interactions on crash severity, as well as the correlation between individual crashes in a region. Among the hierarchical models, we apply a random intercept model including interaction variables between road geometry and weather condition and a random coefficient model including regional weather characteristics as upper-level variables. As a result, it is confirmed that the effects of toll, ramp, downhill slope of 3% or more, and concrete barrier on the crash severity vary depending on weather conditions. It also shows that the combined effects of road geometry and weather conditions may not be linear depending on rainfall or snowfall levels. Finally, we suggest safety improvement measures based on the results of this study, which are expected to reduce the severity of traffic accidents in the future.

Suction of unsaturated bentonite buffers is a very important input parameter for hydro-mechanical performance assessment and design of an engineered barrier system. This study analyzed suction measurement techniques and constitutive models of unsaturated porous media reported in the literature, and suggested suction measurement techniques and constitutive models suitable for bentonite buffer in an HLW repository. The literature review showed the suction of bentonite buffer to be much higher than that of soil, as measured by total suction including matric suction and osmotic suction. The measurement methods (RH-Cell, RH-Cell/Sensor) using a relative humidity sensor were suitable for suction measurement of the bentonite buffer; the RH-Cell /Sensor method was more preferred in consideration of the temperature change due to radioactive decay heat and measurement time. Various water retention models of bentonite buffers have been proposed through experiments, but the van Genuchten model is mainly used as a constitutive model of hydro-mechanical performance assessment of unsaturated buffers. The water characteristic curve of bentonite buffers showed different tendencies according to bentonite type, dry density, temperature, salinity, sample state and hysteresis. Selection of water retention models and determination of model input parameters should consider the effects of these controlling factors so as to improve overall reliability.
It is very important to understand the mechanism of estuary topographic changes for the study of estuary management and treatment methods. In this study, the effects from the land-side, such as rainfall, river discharge, sediment discharge, and sea side, such as tide, tidal current, wave and surface sediments related to the topographic changes of the Nakdong river estuary were investigated and analyzed. Based on the analyzed data, topographic modeling was performed to analyze the topographic change and contribution of external force conditions. As a result of numerical modeling, the topographic change showed that erosion that predominates in the water directly affected by the discharge of the estuary barrage. The deposition predominates in the indirectly affected tideland. As sediments moved along the water way being sorted and distributed by the wave, the deposition predominated in the front of the barrier island. Compared with the deposition dominance, which is the result of the topographic change prediction, the impact of each external force condition gives larger erosion. However, the combined impact of each external force condition showed deposition dominant. Therefore, the topographic changes of the Nakdong river estuary are considered to be the result of various complex external factors. The impacts of each external force condition show the different contribution to each comparison area. These results should be considered when establishing the estuary management method. It must be understood that this is the result of complex interactions.

The skin is divided into three parts: the epidermis, the dermis, and the subcutaneous fat, and the stratum corneum, which is located at the top of the epidermis, acts as a barrier that prevents drug delivery. Nanoemulsions are known to be effective in transdermal delivery of drugs through intercellular lipids because of their unique small particle size. In this study, phase inversion temperature (PIT) nanoemulsion containing α-bisabolol was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM) for effective skin absorption of α-bisabolol. As a preliminary experiment, the 25-2 fractional factorial design method and the 23 full factorial design method were performed. Box-Behnken design was performed based on the results of the factorial design method. The content of surfactant (6.3~12.6%), co-surfactant (5.2~7.8%) and α-bisabolol (0.5~5.0%) were used as factors, and the dependent variable was the particle size of the nanoemulsion. PIT nanoemulsion optimization was performed according to the RSM results, and as a result, the optimal nanoemulsion formulation conditions were predicted to be 10.4% surfactant content, 6.3% co-surfactant content, and 5.0% α-bisabolol content. As a result of the skin absorption test, the final skin absorption rate of the PIT nanoemulsion was 35.11±1.01%, and the final skin absorption rate of the general emulsion as a control was 28.25±1.69%, confirming that the skin absorption rate of the PIT nanoemulsion was better.
The purpose of this study is to examine study abroad participation and its relationship with career decision self-efficacy. It also aims to explore the explanatory factors for this relationship using mixed methods. Data were collected from 258 study abroad participants using pre- and post-test surveys at the A university. Subsequently, qualitative interviews with 16 participants were conducted to explain quantitative results. Findings showed that the career-related achievement goal and participants' interactions with local students played an important role in participants' career development. On the other hand, the group of participants whose career decision self-efficacy decreased after participation were also identified. This finding can be understood from the qualitative finding that participants bounced back to their previous career plans after return, re-experiencing the barrier of reality in finding a job in the Korean society. This is different from the circumstances in a destination country they studied abroad in. In addition, the quantitative finding can be understood from the qualitative finding that some students decided to participate in study abroad program simply for vacation and international experiences, without trying to relate it to career exploration. Based on findings from this study, implications for higher education institutions running a study abroad program were discussed and suggestions for future research were provided.
