능선 궤적법을 이용한 볼엔드밀 가공면 해석 (Analysis of Machined Surfaces by Ball-end Milling using the Ridge Method)

  • Ball-end milling is one of the most common manufacturing processes for the parts with sculptured surface. However, the conventional roughness model is not suitable for the evaluation of surface texture and roughness under highly efficient machining conditions. Therefore, a different approach is needed for the accurate evaluation of machined surface. In this study, a new method, named ‘Ridge method’, is proposed for the effective prediction of the geometrical roughness and the surface topology in ball-end milling. Theoretical analysis of a machined surface texture was performed considering the actual trochoidal trajectories of cutting edge. The characteristic lines of cut remainder are defined as three-types of ‘Ridges’ and their mathematical equations are derived from the surface generation mechanism of ball-end milling process. The predicted results are compared with the results of conventional method. The agreement between the results predicted by the proposed method and the values calculated by the simulation method shows that the analytic equations presented in this paper are useful for evaluating a geometrical surface roughness of ball -end milling process.

볼기어캠의 4-축 가공에 관한 연구 (Study of 4-Axis Machining for Ball Gear Cam)

  • The automatic tool changer of a machining center consists of a tool magazine and a cam box, and the core components of the cam box are a roller gear cam and a turret. Recently, the roller gear cam of a cam box has been replaced by a ball gear cam. In this study, the design and machining method of ball gear cam for an automatic tool changer was studied. Additionally, an algorithm for a 4-axis post processing method was established from an instrumental formula by designing a ball gear cam, thus preventing machining at the bottom of ball end mill and enabling the ball on the turret to be driven at the entrance and exit of a curve without collision due to machining errors. In conclusion, machining using only the 4-axis method including the C-axis on a BC -Type 5-axis machine produced the desired ball gear cam.

철계 비정질 합금 분말코아의 자기적 특성에 미치는 분말 제조방식의 영향 (Effects of the Powder Preparation Method on the Magnetic Properties of Fe-based Amorphous Alloy Powder Cores)

  • 철계 비정질 합금 리본을 분쇄한 뒤 상온 압축성형을 통하여 분말코아를 제조할 때 로터밀과 볼밀의 두 가지 분말제조 공정을 사용하여 만든 분말의 형상을 관찰하고, 또 이들을 이용한 분말코아의 자기적 및 전기적 특성과 미세구조를 조사하였다. 로터밀을 사용한 경우 실효투자율의 크기는 볼 밀링한 경우보다 낮았으나 이의 주파수 의존성 및 품질계수는 볼밀의 경우보다 우수하였으며 자심손실 또한 더 작았다. 한편 로터밀을 사용하여 만든 분말은 크기가 균일하고 가장자리는 강한 전단가공을 받아 완만한 곡선을 지닌 등축형을 이루고 있는 반면 볼밀을 사용한 경우는 크기가 상대적으로 불규칙하면서 작은 분말이 많고 가장자리는 날카로운 형상을 하고 있었다. 로터밀로 만든 분말코아의 낮은 투자율은 밀링시 심한 전단에 의해 발생하는 큰 내부응력의 축적에 기인하는 것으로 보여진다. 한편 로터 밀링을 통해 만든 분말코아의 경우 투자율은 상대적으로 낮지만 전기저항의 측정 및 미세구조의 관찰로부터 보다 양호한 절연상태가 확보되어 높은 주파수에 이르기까지 투자율이 유지되면서 적은 자심손실이 얻어진 것으로 판단되었다. 분말코아의 자기적 안정성을 나타내는 직류중첩특성 또한 로터밀의 경우가 볼 밀링한 경우보다 우수하였다.

용융법과 기계적 합금화에 의한 열전재료 Mg3Sb2의 제조 (Synthesis of thermoelectric Mg3Sb2 by melting and mechanical alloying)

  • Mg와 Sb 분말을 사용하여 1173 K에서 결정성이 좋은 단일상의 $Mg_3Sb_2$ 합금을 제조하였다. 이 합금의 열전성능지수 zT는 온도상승에 따라 크게 증가하였고 593 K에서 $2.39{\times}10^{-2}$의 값을 나타내었다. 얻어진 $Mg_3Sb_2$ 합금을 planetary ball mill에서 12~48시간 볼밀링할 경우 주 결정상 $Mg_3Sb_2$는 유지가 되었으나 결정성이 나빠졌고 금속원소 Sb상이 나타났다. Mg와 Sb를 섞고 24시간 볼밀링에 의한 합금화 방법으로 합성할 경우 원소금속 Sb가 나타나지 않은 $Mg_3Sb_2$ 결정상을 얻을 수 있었다.

볼-밀 시간에 따른 SBN-BTN 세라믹의 강유전 특성 (Ferroelectric properties of SBN-BTN ceramics with variation of the ball-milling time)

  • $(SrBi_2Nb_2O_9)_{0.5}-(Bi_3TiNbO_9)_{0.5}$ ceramics were fabricated by the mixed-oxide method, and the structural and electrical properties with variation of ball-milling time were investigated. All SBN-BTN specimens showed the typical polycrystalline X-ray diffraction patterns without the presence of the second phase. The SBN-BTN specimen sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ and ball-milled for 168h showed the average grain size of $16{\mu}m$. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the SBN-BTN specimen sintered at $1150^{\circ}C$ and ball-mill for 72h were 225, 0.4% at 1KHz, respectively.

AlTiN 코팅 층수에 따른 볼 엔드밀의 마모특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Wear Characteristics of the Ball End Mill According to the AlTiN Coated Layers)

  • In this research KP-4, one of the plastic mold steels, was coated with the AlTiN from one layer to four layers by the PVD method in the $\Phi$ cemented carbide ball end mill. Coated KP-4 was processed with various conditions. For example, slope of $15^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$ the spindle rotation speed was changed from 10,000rpm to 16,000rpm, the tool feeding speed was changed from 1,300mm/min to 1,700mm/min, the depth of cut was also changed from 0.3mm to 0.9mm, and etc. Cutting component force according to the coating layer number, surface roughness, and the wear of tool were studied.

규석 분말의 교반형 볼 밀 분쇄효율에 미치는 열처리의 영향 (Effect of Heating Treatment of Silica Powder on Stirred Ball Milling Efficiency)

  • 교반형 볼 밀에서 실리카 분말의 열처리에 따른 분쇄효율을 분쇄에 따른 에너지 소비량을 측정함으로써 조사하였다. 열처리를 행한 것과 행하지 않은 시료를 비교해 보면, 600~90$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리 후 실온에서 냉각된 시료를 건식 분쇄하였을 경우 약 40~50% 정도, 열처리 후 물속에서 급속 냉각한 경우 약 52~62% 정도의 에너지의 감소 효과가 있었다. 또한 열처리한 실리카 분말을 습식 분쇄를 할 경우 건식 분쇄에 비하여 약 40% 정도의 분쇄에너지가 적게 소모되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 실리카 분말을 열처리 한 후, 급속 냉각할 경우 발생하는 열충격은 입도에 대한 영향을 거의 받지 않으며 분쇄효과를 향상시킴을 알 수 있었다.

볼 엔드밀 경사면 가공의 동적 모델 (Dynamic Model in Ball End Milling of Inclined Surface)

  • In this work a dynamic cutting force model in ball end milling of inclined surface is introduced. To represent the complex cutting geometry in ball end milling of inclined surface, workpiece is modeled with Z-map method and cutting edges are divided into finite cutting edge elements. As tool rotates and vibrates, a finite cutting edge element makes two triangular sub-patches. Using the number of nodes in workpiece which are in the interior of sub-patches, instant average uncut chip thickness is derived. Instant dynamic cutting forces are computed with the chip thickness and cutting coefficients. The deformation of cutting tool induced by cutting farces is also computed. With iterative computation of these procedures, a dynamic cutting force model is generated. The model is verified with several experiments.

Characteristics of Bio Pellets from Spent Coffee Grounds and Pinewood Charcoal Based on Composition and Grinding Method

  • One type of biomass that has promising potential for bio pellet production is spent coffee grounds (SCGs). However, previous studies have shown that SCGs in bio pellets cause a lot of smoke. Therefore, they need to be mixed with a material that has a higher calorific value to produce better quality pellets. One material that can be used is pine wood because it has a natural resin content that can increase the calorific value. The aim of this study was to examine the quality of bio pellets produced with SCGs and pine wood charcoal at different particle sizes. The charcoal was ground using either a hammer mill (HM) or a ball mill (BM). Pine wood charcoal was mixed with SCGs at ratios of SCGs to pine wood charcoal of 4:6 and 6:4 by weight, respectively, and the adhesive used a tapioca with a composition ratio 5% of the raw material. The bio pellets were produced using a manual pellet press. The quality of the bio pellets was assessed based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 8021-2014, and the physical observations include flame length, burning rate, and compressive strength. The average water content, ash content, and calorific value of the bio pellets were in accordance with SNI 8021-2014, but the density and ash content values were below the standard values. The BM variation of bio pellets had a higher compressive strength than the HM variation, and the 4:6 BM variation had the longest burning time compared with 4:6 HM.

  • Recently, the needs of non-symmetric spherical lens are increasing. Machining non-symmetric spherical lens by general method is limited. This paper researches grinding machine method for non-symmetric spherical lens and accruable problems at processing lens using CAD/CAM. In addition, this paper researches the relation of curvatures to grinding wheel sizes.
