캐니스터와 Tedlar-bag 시료채집법을 이용한 대기 중의 휘발성유기황화합물의 측정 (Measurement of Volatile Organic Sulfur Compounds in Ambient Air by Canister and Tedlar-bag Sampling Method)

  • The measurement of VOSCs(volatile organic sulfur compounds) in the air is nowadays a very important environmental research field. It is, however, very difficult because the concentration of the VOSC in ambient air is usually very low and the high reactivity makes it difficult to keep in container without loss of recovery. In this study, sampling method with cryogenic preconcentration is evaluated for analysis of atmospheric VOSC such as $CH_3SH,\;CH_3CH_2SH,\;CH_3SCH_3,\;CS_2,\;CH_3SSCH_3,\;CH_3SCH_2SCHA_3,\;and\;C_2H_5SSC_2H_5$ analyzed by GC-MS or GC-FID. Repeatabilities of measurement accompanied with preconcentration for 3-successive runs were in the range of 0.2~1.0% as a relative standard deviation. Stabilities up to 13 days were measured in 6 L canister and 10 L tedlar bag filled with VOSCs in ppb level. Higher stability was observed in tedlar bag as compared to canister with glass coated inner walls, and thiol compounds show dramatic losses in canister within 2~3 days. It is found that recovery over 70% was obtained in a week for all tested VOSCs when the compounds from ambient air matrix were stored in tedlar bag. It is also found that the stabilities of VOSCs are depending on humidity and coexisting compounds in matrix gas due to sample adsorption onto inner surface and reactivity. The results indicate the possibility and limitations of VOSC analysis in ambient air using container sampling method with cryogenic preconcentration.

온실가스 기기분석의 정도관리를 위한 고려사항 연구 - CH4과 CO2를 중심으로 - (Some Insights into the Basic QA/QC for the Greenhouse Gas Analysis: Methane and Carbon Dioxide)

  • In order to investigate the analytical uncertainties associated with sampling and analysis of major greenhouse gaseous pollutants(carbon dioxide and methane), we attempted to quantify their adsorptive loss due to the contact with the container wall(such as Tedlar bag and vial). Using the GC/FID method, some basic experimental parameters(such as reproducibility and method detection limit) have been evaluated as part of the essential QA/QC The reproducibilities of carbon dioxide and methane were estimated as 2.02 and 0.2%, respectively. In addition, method detection limits were measured as 0.61 and 0.06 ng, respectively. A test of sample loss rate has also been made for Tedlar bag and vial by assessing the absolute amount of sample loss on the wall. By transferring the samples contained in Tedlar bag to various sizes of Tedlar bags, we measured differences in the absolute loss quantity due to such transfer. In addition, we also examined such loss mechanism as a function of elapsed time and light penetration rate for vial. As results, carbon dioxide and methane have shown about 2% of sample loss due to such contact. It is also noticed that the amount of loss with vial surface is lower than that of Tedlar bag. Therefore, field collection of greenhouse gases using various container types should be made more cautiously to minimize the possibility of sample loss and bias related to such loss.

수중운동체의 심도제어를 위한 제어기 설계 (Controller design for depth control of vehicle under seawater)

  • In ordaer to hold an underwater vehicle at a certain depth, buoyancy that acts on the underwater vehicle can be modulated. In this research, buoyancy that could control depth of underwater vehicle is generated by a buoyancy bag. Solenoid valves are operated by pulse with modulation(PWM) method. State equation, in consideration of the volume of buoyancy bag, pressure inside bag, and dynamic of the underwater vehicle, is derived. This system is very unstable, inculdes modelling error and nonlinearity. In depth control system, maintanance of performance is required., anainst vatiation of systerm parameter and operating depth, and designed. Through the computer simulation, performance is comparerd for each controllers.

Effects of Air Compressibility on the Hydrodynamic Forces of a Bag

  • The hydrodynamic problem when the pressurized bag submerges partially into water and oscillates was formulated by Lee(1992), and the solution method was given, In his formulation, however, the compressilbility of air was neglected and the pressure inside the bag was assumed to be constant. In this paper, the formulation was done including the air compressibility and the wall to block fling around phenomenon. The compression process was assumed to be a isothermal process for a static problem, isentropic process for a dynamic problem. And the stability was analyzed for the static problem. Through the various numerical calculations, the forces and the shape of the bag were compared with those of a rigid body case, constant pressure case, and variable pressure case.

The Decomposition of Leaf Litters of Some Tree Species in Temperate Deciduous Forest in Korea I. Losses in Dry Weight of Leaf Litter

  • Losses in the dry weight of leaf litter from six tree species were studied during 16 months on the forest floor in temperate deciduous forest of Mt. Cheonma in the vicinity of Seoul in Korea by using litter bag method. The decomposition rate of each leaf litter varies with each species. After 16 months elapsed, the leaf litter of Acer pseudo-sieboidianum showed the highest decomposition constant (0.82) as Olson´s decomposition constant, while that of Pinus densiflora showed the lowest decomposition constant (0.33). The decomposition constant of Quercus mongolica, Q. serrata, Betula ermani and Carpinus laxiflora showed 0.43, 0.37, 0.66 and 0.75, respectively. The decomposition constant of leaf litter was considered with temperature and precipitation which accumulated daily during each term of litter bag collection. The decomposition constant of leaf litter showed closely positive correlation with daily accumulative temperature and precipitation. The relationships between decomposition constant and the daily accumulative temperature and precipitation at each period of litter bag collection were analyzed through multi-regression analysis. The correlation coefficients as a result of multi-regression analysis in Q. mongolica, Q. serrata, P densiflora, B. ermani, C. laxiflorais and A. pseudo-sieboldianum were 0.83, 0.81, 0.69, 0.77, 0.77 and 0.62, respectively. The precipitation showed higher effect, about 10 times, on the leaf litter decomposition than the daily accumulative temperature.

휴대용 GC/MS 성능검사 및 분석방법 연구 (The Study on Analysis Method and Performance Evaluation of Portable GC/MS)

  • 화학사고 현장에서 운용하도록 개발된 휴대용 GC/MS의 적정 시료 주입방식 연구 및 장비의 분석방식별 성능평가를 실시하였다. 사고대비물질 69종 중 4종(methyl chloride, vinyl chloride, benzene, toluene)의 대상물질을 선정하였고, 성능평가용 표준시료는 한국표준과학원에서 제조한 인증표준물질(CRM)을 사용하였다. 연구 결과, 1) 3가지(실린더, 백, 캐니스터)의 시료주입방식 중 백(bag) 주입방법이 가장 적합한 주입방법으로 판단되었다. 백(bag)의 재질이나 용량은 결과에 큰 영향을 미치지는 않았다. 도입 시료의 적절한 purge time은 Loop method와 Tenax method 모두 2분에서 가장 좋은 재현성을 보였다. 2) 휴대용 GC/MS에서 채택하고 있는 3가지 분석방식(sample loop, tenax concentration, carbopack concentration method)에 대한 대상물질의 재현성, 검출한계, 직선성 등의 성능평가 실시 결과 benzene, toluene과 같이 비교적 분자량이 큰 화합물은 Tenax 흡착관에, methyl chloride, vinyl chloride와 같이 분자량이 작고 휘발성이 큰 화합물은 carbopack 흡착관에 농축 분석하는 것이 더욱 재현성 있는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • For the purpose of leading horse mackerel Trachurus japonicus schools, mackerel Scomber japonicus schools and arrow squid Todarodes pacificus schools, which migrate to the Cheju coast and are caught by the set-net, to the set-net by attracting lamps, we made five attracting lamps and took a practical experiment in the Gwiduk and Dongbuk set-net fishing ground. In the set-net with two bag-nets, we compared the amount of catch of both bag-nets by the means of switching on and off the each attracting lamps in order, switching off the attracting lamps in order which had been switched on and moving an attracting lamp.In the bag-net with an attracting lamp, horse mackerel, mackerel and arrow squid were caught the most, on the other hand, yellow tail Seriola quinqueradiata, striped mullet Mugil cephalus were caught in large quantities in the bag-net without attracting lamp. File fish Stephanolepis cirrhifer, Dusky spinefoot Siganus fuscescens were caught evenly in both bag-nets regardless of an attracting lamp.This result indicates that the amount of horse mackerel, mackerel, arrow squid can be increased by the use of attracting lamps in the set-net fishing method.

감마과정 모델에 의한 장약포의 저장수명 예측 (Estimation of Storage Life for Propellant Bag by Using Gamma Process Model)

  • 본 논문은 장약포의 저장기간에 따른 파단하중 저하에 관하여 감마과정 모델을 이용하여 저장수명을 예측하는 방법에 대한 연구결과이다. 추진제의 자연분해로 발생하는 질소화합물과 장약포의 화학반응은 파단하중을 저하시킨다. 장약포의 가속수명시험 결과에 감마과정 모델을 적용하여 시간의 경과에 따른 상태와 수명을 확률분포로 표현하였다. 저장수명은 중위수로 표현하고 품질보증을 위한 정책결정기준으로 $B_1$ 또는 $B_5$ 수명을 활용하는 것이 적절하다.

촉매 처리된 여과재에 의한 PCB 처리특성 (The removal characteristics of PCB by catalyzed fabric filter)

  • PCB (poly chlorinated biphenyl)의 재생성문제를 해결하기 위해 PCB가 재생성되지 않는 $220^{\circ}C$ 이내의 온도에서 PCB를 90% 이상 효과적으로 분해할 수 있는 저온활성이 우수한 촉매에 대해 연구 하였다. 기존의 백필터에 저온활성이 우수한 PCB 제거용 촉매를 코팅하여 분진 및 PCB를 동시에 제거 가능한 백필터 여과재를 얻고자 하였다. 촉매 반응 후 벤젠고리가 분해되어 PCB가 재생성될 수 없음을 확인하였다. 그리고 spray법에 의한 촉매코팅이 함침법에 의한 코팅보다 효과적이었으며, Pt-Co 촉매를 사용하였을 때가 PCB 제거율이 가장 높았다. 본 연구를 잘 활용한다면 기존의 소각로에서 사용되던 기존 백필터를 촉매 여과재로 교체만 하여도 분진과 PCB를 동시에 효율적으로 제거할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Antibacterial and remineralization effects of orthodontic bonding agents containing bioactive glass

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the mechanical and biological properties of orthodontic bonding agents containing silver- or zinc-doped bioactive glass (BAG) and determine the antibacterial and remineralization effects of these agents. Methods: BAG was synthesized using the alkali-mediated solgel method. Orthodontic bonding agents containing BAG were prepared by mixing BAG with flowable resin. $Transbond^{TM}$ XT (TXT) and $Charmfil^{TM}$ Flow (CF) were used as controls. Ion release, cytotoxicity, antibacterial properties, the shear bond strength, and the adhesive remnant index were evaluated. To assess the remineralization properties of BAG, micro-computed tomography was performed after pH cycling. Results: The BAG-containing bonding agents showed no noticeable cytotoxicity and suppressed bacterial growth. When these bonding agents were used, demineralization after pH cycling began approximately 200 to $300{\mu}m$ away from the bracket. On the other hand, when CF and TXT were used, all surfaces that were not covered by the adhesive were demineralized after pH cycling. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that orthodontic bonding agents containing silver- or zinc-doped BAG have stronger antibacterial and remineralization effects compared with conventional orthodontic adhesives; thus, they are suitable for use in orthodontic practice.
