For the forward-backward semimartingale, we can define the backward semimartingale flow which is generated by the backward canonical stochastic differential equation. Therefore, we define the backward self-similar stochastic processes, and we study the backward self-similar stochastic flows through the canonical stochastic differential equations.
To simulate an actual slip to measure floor slipperiness, slip resistance testers simulate slip in only forward direction because forward slip in the landing phase was found to be the most important factor for loss of balance. Backward slip in the take off phase was possible but was excluded in the friction test protocol because it was not dangerous. However, backward slip was tested in the friction test protocol without any theoretical background of the significance in generating dangerous slips and falls and was proven to be as good as forward slip in measuring floor slipperiness. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the significance of backward slip in generating dangerous slips and falls with different combinations of floor and shoe sole. The results showed different tendency of backward slip in take off phase being significant in generating dangerous slips and falls because backward slip in the takeoff phase affected gait pattern disturbances seriously. resulted in dangerous falls. Fast toe velocity increased the severity of backward slip and confirmed the significance of backward slip in generating dangerous slips and falls. As a result, this study recommends the utilization of backward slip in the measurement of floor slipperiness.
Nonlinear dynamic characteristics of rubbing phenomenon in rotor dynamics are investigated experimentally and numerically. Rubbing phenomenon occurs when rotor contacts with stator during whirling and causes the large amplitude of vibration, high whirl frequencies, and possibly catastrophic failure. Rubbing has various types of forward whirl, backward rolling, backward slipping, and partial rub depending on the system parameters of rotating machinery and running speed. Experiments are performed for forward whirl and backward whirl. And numerical analysis are conducted to explain the changes between backward rolling and backward slipping. Experimental and numerical results show that the types of whirling motion depends on the friction coefficient between rotor and stator and the eccentricity of rotor.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine activities of the scapular stabilizers during push-up plus and PNF backward rocking exercises. Methods : 9 subjects performed randomly push-up plus and PNF backward rocking exercises in four point kneeling. The activities of 4 scapular stabilizing muscles were compared between push-up plus and PNF backward rocking exercises. Results : PNF backward rocking exercise showed significantly higher lower trapezius and lower serratus anterior activations compared to push-up plus exercise. Push-up plus exercise showed significantly higher middle serratus anterior activation than PNF backward rocking exercise. Conclusion : PNF backward rocking exercise facilitates the lower trapezius and serratus anterior activations compared to push-up plus exercise.
The backward tracing scheme(BWT) of the finite element method has been extended lot the design of sheet blank in three-dimensional deformation. Originally the scheme was developed for preform design in bulk forming, and applied to several forming processes successfully. Its key concept is to trace backward from the final desirable configuration to an intermediate preform or initial blocker. A program for initial blank design in sheet forming which contains the capabilities of forward loading simulation by the finite element method and backward tracing simulation, has been developed and proved the effectiveness by applying to a square cup stamping process. In the blank design of square cup stamping, the backward tracing program can produce an optimum blank configuration which forms a sound net-shape cup product without machining after forming. For the confirmation of the analytic result derived from the backward tracing simulations as well as forward loading simulations, a series of experiment were carried out. The experiments include the first trial sheet forming process with a rectangular blank, an improved process with a modified blank preform and the final process with an optimum blank resulted from the backward tracing scheme. The experiments show that the backward tracing scheme has been implemented successfully in blank design of sheet metal forming.
Purpose: Backward walking has shown positive effects on gait recovery in rehabilitation patients. It is increasingly used as an aerobic training method in rehabilitation populations, inducing more sensory and motor stimulation than forward walking. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of visual stimulation during backward walking. Methods: Twenty-seven healthy adults with a visual acuity of 0.8 or higher participated in the study. To compare the effects of visual stimulation during various walking conditions among healthy individuals, the participants randomly selected cards numbered one to six and walked a distance of 10 meters. Walking ability was measured using Optogait. Results: Statistically significant differences were observed in speed, stride, and percentages of single support and contact phase during backward walking. Within eyes-closed conditions during backward walking, significant differences were found in percentages of single support, terminal stance, and contact phase. Moreover, the percentage of terminal swing significantly differed during backward walking with head turn conditions. Conclusion: Gait parameters such as speed, stride, and percentages of single support and contact phase were higher during backward walking than forward walking. These results indicate that backward walking involves multiple sensory systems and varying conditions.
Purpose: to analyze and compare mucsle activity of Quadriceps femoris depending on the existence of taping while normal people walk forward and backward on treadmill when the slope and speed changes on treadmill. Method: Among 40 people who participated in this study, 20 experimenter who apply a taping walk forward and backward to 0%, 5%, 10% gradient per 2km/h and 4km/h using treadmill to give arbitrary walking behavior, 20 experimenter who doesn't apply a taping also walk forward and backward to 0%, 5%, 10% gradient per 2km/h and 4km/h using treadmill. To analyze muscle activity, We use an electromyography and Kinesio tape of good elasticity for obtained suffient effects in the experiment. Result: During backward walking in 2km/h, Vastus medialis and Vastus lateralis showed significant differences(p<0.05) when apply a taping. During backward walking in 2km/h, Vastus medialis and Rectus femoris, and Vastus lateralis all showed significant differences(p<0.05). During backward walking in 2km/h, Vastus medialis and Vastus lateralis showed significant differences in 10% gradient(p<0.05). During backward walking in 4km/h, Vastus medialis and Rectus femoris, and Vastus lateralis all showed significant differences(p<0.05). During backward walking in 4km/h, By the difference in slope, Vastus medialis and Vastus lateralis showed significant differences between 0% and 10% gradient(p<0.05). Conclusion: In comparison to muscle activity of Quadriceps femoris when apply a taping according to slope and speed during forward and backward walking on treadmill, when apply a taping and walk backward and 10% gradient on treadmill in 4km/h, maximum of muscle activity is shown.
In this paper backward extrusion process with lower die rotation was studied to improve the conventional backward extrusion problems ; requirement of large forming machine, the difficulty to selecting of die material caused by high surface pressure, high cost of forming machine caused by improvement of noise and vibration, and etc. In this experiment, model material, plasticine, was used of specimen. The result values of torsional and conventional backward extrusions were analyzed and compared. FE-simulation is used for analysis with DEFPRM-3D. These results show that the torsional backward extrusion is very useful process because this process can obtain the homogeneous deformation, low forming load. Decreasing forming load improves die life and makes it possible to use press of relatively low capacity. Also this process can reduce corner cavity, improve the initial cast-structure, owing to the high deformation and uniform starin distribution.
In order to reduce the forming load of backward extrusion to a feasible level a new backward extrusion processes are proposed. In these process the shape of punch and die for conventional backward extrusion are change to open backward extrusion. To analyse the process numerical simulations by the finite element method has been performed, This simulation gave good results concerning the prediction of the forming load material flow and the corresponding shape of forged products, . These predictions set the limits of the preform shape and forming load depending on the punch and die geometry. The results show that the forming load is reduced significantly when the conventional backward extrusion change to open backward extrusion.
Presented in this paper is a scheduling method for semiconductor backend process considering the backward pegging. It is known that the pegging for frontend is a process of labeling WIP lots for target order which is specified by due date, quantity, and product specifications including customer information. As a result, it gives the release plan to meet the out target considering current WIP. However, the semiconductor backend process includes the multichip package and test operation for the product bin portion. Therefore, backward pegging method for frontend can't give the release plan for backend process in semiconductor. In this paper, we suggest backward pegging method considering the characteristics of multichip package and test operation in backend process. And we describe the backward pegging problem using the examples.
