  • This paper presents the recent findings for collision avoidance of two manipulators in addition to the results shown in Lee [4]. The collision situation we assume here is that the prespecified final time $K_{f}$ and the prespecified path of one robot can be modified for the purpose of collision avoidance with the other robot. The collision avoidance problem is resolved into three independent categories for a systematic approach.h.

  • Up to now a lot of the study on ship collision avoidance systems has proceeded actively. However the frequency of ship collision accidents didn't decreased. If there is collision risk in close quarters situation none the less manouvering ship for collision avoidance according to the system, only use of TCPA and DCPA as input factor for collision risk decision is not useful to avoiding collision action. For the recent 5 years by the analysis of first observation distance about approaching ship in domestic collision accidents, nearly $45\%$ of accidents is close first observation less than 2 miles. Therefor it is essential part for safety navigations to study for collision avoidance action in close encounter. In this paper, as foundation study of supporting collision avoidance manoeuvring for navigators, we proposed ship collision avoidance support model in close quarters situation through analysis of collision accidents for effective getting rid of the causes.

  • Up to now a lot of the study on ship collision avoidance systems have proceeded actively. However the rate of ship collision accidents hasn't decreased yet. If there is collision risk in close quarters situation in spite of maneuvering ship for collision avoidance according to the system, only use of TCP A and DCP A as input factor for collision risk decision is not useful to avoiding collision action. For the recent 5 years by the analysis of first observation distance about approaching ship in domestic collision accidents, nearly $45\%$ of accidents is close first observation less than 2 miles. Therefore it is essential part for safety navigations to study for collision avoidance action in close encounter. • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs) require collision avoidance capabilities equivalent to the capabilities of manned aircraft to enter the airspace of manned aircraft. In the case of Visual Flight Rules of manned aircraft, collision avoidance is performed by 'See-and-Avoid' of pilots. To obtain those capabilities of UAVs named as 'Sense-and-Avoid', sensor-system-based intruder tracking and collision avoidance methods are required. In this study, a multi-sensor-based tracking, data fusion, and collision avoidance algorithm is designed by using a model-based design tool MATLAB/SIMULINK, and validations of the designed model and code using numerical simulations and processor-in-the-loop simulations are performed.

  • In this paper, a new collision avoidance algorithm based on the dynamic model of a mobile robot is proposed. In order to avoid obstacles on the path of a mobile robot, intelligent force control is used to regulate accurate distance between a robot and an obstacle. Since uncertainties from robot and environment dynamics degrade the performance of a collision avoidance task, neural network is used to compensate for uncertainties so that the collision avoidance can be performed intelligently. Simulation studies are conducted to confirm the proposed collision avoidance tracking control algorithm.

  • Collision avoidance algorithm of vessels have been studied to avoid collision and grounding of a vessel due to human error. In this paper, We propose a collision avoidance algorithm using bayesian estimation theory for safety sailing and reduced risk of collision accident. We calculate collision risk for efficient collision avoidance using bayesian algorithm and determined the safest and most effective collision risk is predicted by using re-planned with re-evaluated collision risk in the future(t=t'). Others ship position is assumed to be informed from AIS. Experimental results show that we estimate the safest and most effective collision risk.

  • In the 21st century, the rapid development of automation and artificial intelligence technologies is driving innovative changes in various industrial sectors. In the transportation industry, this is evident with the commercialization of autonomous vehicles. Moreover research into autonomous navigation technologies is actively underway in the aviation and maritime sectors. Consequently, for the practical implementation of autonomous ships, an effective collision avoidance algorithm has become a crucial element. Therefore, this study proposes a collision avoidance algorithm based on the Obstacle Zone by Target(OZT), which visually represents areas with a high likelihood of collisions with other ships or obstacles. The A-star algorithm was utilized to represent obstacles on a grid and assess collision risks. Subsequently, a collision avoidance algorithm was developed that performs fuzzy control based on calculated waypoints, allowing the vessel to return to its original course after avoiding the collision. Finally, the validity of the proposed algorithm was verified through collision avoidance simulations in various encounter scenarios.

  • This paper describes a multi-mobile robot system with fuzzy rule based structure in collision avoidance. Collision avoidance is an important function to perform a given task collaboratively and cooperatively in multi-mobile robot environments. So the important but challenging problem is handled in this paper. Considered obstacles for collision avoidance between multi mobile robots are static, dynamic, or both of them at the same time. Using the fuzzy rule based structure, distance and angle from a robot to obstacles are described as fuzzy linguistic values and steering angle for the robot are updated from the collision environments. As a result, the multi-mobile robot can modify a global path from a robot itself to its own target. In addition, avoiding collision with static or dynamic obstacles for the robot system can be achieved. Simulation based experimental results are given to show usefulness of this method.

  • It is very important to understand the intention of a target ship to prevent collisions in multiple-ship situations. However, considering the intentions of a large number of ships at the same time is a great burden for the officer who must establish a collision avoidance plan. With a distributed algorithm, a ship can exchange information with a large number of target ships and search for a safe course. In this paper, I have applied a Distributed Stochastic Search Algorithm (DSSA), a distributed algorithm, for ship collision avoidance. A ship chooses the course that offers the greatest cost reduction or keeps its current course according to probability and constraints. DSSA is divided into five types according to the probability and constraints mentioned. In this paper, the five types of DSSA are applied for ship collision avoidance, and the effects on ship collision avoidance are analyzed. In addition, I have investigated which DSSA type is most suitable for collision avoidance. The experimental results show that the DSSA-A and B schemes offered effective ship collision avoidance. This algorithm is expected to be applicable for ship collision avoidance in a distributed system.

  • Even if only two ships are encountered, a collision may occur due to the mistaken judgment of the positional relationship. In other words, if an officer does not know a target ship's intention, there is always a risk of collision. In this paper, the experiments are conducted to investigate how the intention affects the action of collision avoidance in cooperative and non-cooperative situations. In non-cooperative situation, each ship chooses a course that minimizes costs based on the current situation. That is, it always performs a selfish selection. In a cooperative situation, the information is exchanged with a target ship and a course is selected based on this information. Each ship uses the Distributed Stochastic Search Algorithm so that a next-intended course can be selected by a certain probability and determines the course. In the experimental method, four virtual ships are set up to analyze the action of collision avoidance. Then, using the actual AIS data of eight ships in the strait of Dover, I compared and analyzed the action of collision avoidance in cooperative and non-cooperative situations. As a result of the experiment, the ships showed smooth trajectories in the cooperative situation, but the ship in the non-cooperative situation made frequent big changes to avoid a collision. In the case of the experiment using four ships, there was no collision in the cooperative situation regardless of the size of the safety domain, but a collision occurred between the ships when the size of the safety domain increased in cases of non-cooperation. In the case of experiments using eight ships, it was found that there are optimal parameters for collision avoidance. Also, it was possible to grasp the variation of the sailing distance and the costs according to the combination of the parameters, and it was confirmed that the setting of the parameters can have a great influence on collision avoidance among ships.
