The purpose of this study was to establish the relative influences of individual variables (sex, age, temperament) and mother's psychosocial variables (maternal attitude, parenting stress, marriage satisfaction) on daily stress levels and maladjustment of young children attending at daycare centers. Subjects were 224 pairs of children and their mothers, and 18 teachers from 5 child-care centers in Gwangju City. Children were tested individually using 22-item daily stress inventory with illustrations which described certain stressful situations. Questionnaires were also administered to mothers and teachers. Collected data were subjected to Cronbach's $\alpha$, correlation and multiple regression analysis using SPSS (WIN 14.0) program. The major findings were as follows; Overall average score of children's daily stress was equivalent with the median. 'Blame and attack situation' and 'anxiety and frustrated situation' were perceived as more stressful for children than 'lose self-respect situation'. Overall average score of children's maladjustment was lower than the median. 'Overactivity' was highest among subscores of maladjustment. Age was the only significant influential factor on children's daily stress level. Sex was the most influential factor on 'overactivity', 'aggression', and 'regression' of young children. Activity and maternal stress were the second most influential factor on 'overactivity' and 'aggression', respectively.
This study aims to provide the research for dental technician's stress prevention and management with basic materials by understanding dental technician's psychosocial stress level and examining relevant factors. The subject of this study is 255 dental technologists who work mainly in Seoul Gyeonggi district for a month of April of 2009 and I conducted cross-sectional study through self administered survey. The contents of survey include general feature, occupational feature, health behavior feature. I used Karasek's Job Content Questionnaire, JCQ and Psychosocial well-being index, PWI-SF as means of measurement. To compare the level of dental technician's psychosocial stress, I conducted t-test and ANOVA and I measured the factors that are related with psychosocial stress symptom with step by step multiple regressive analysis. According to the result of Cronbach's a value which is yielded to verify the reliability of means of measurement, the reliability of concept is sufficient. The detailed result of this study is as follows. 1. According to the result of analyzing the stress symptom in accordance with general feature and occupational feature, those dental technologists who are older and not married, graduate from junior college, have lower position, work at university hospital or general hospital show lower stress(p<0.05). There is no difference in the level of psychosocial stress with regard to duty related feature, period of service, daily average working hours, monthly average pay. 2. With regard to health behavior feature, those dental technologists who control weight better and have meal more regularly show lower stress(p<0.05). Those dental technicians who smoke, drink liquid and take a suitable sleep show low stress but the difference does not have significance statistically. 3. With regard to the factors of stress in the workplace, those dental technicians who have lower duty related requirement, have higher duty related control ability, have higher social support, have less instability of employment and have less workload and physical burden show lower stress(p<0.05). 4. According to the result of analyzing the factors that influence dental technologist's stress symptom, social support has the most enormous influence on stress symptom. Unstable employment, regular exercise, regular eating, daily average sleeping hours and technological capacity are also important in this order. According to the result of this study, those dental technicians who have higher social support, less instability of employment, do exercise more regularly, take enough sleep more soundly and have higher technological capacity show lower psychosocial stress symptom. Therefore, to adjust appropriately the dental technician's stress and properly maintain and improve the dental technician's mental health, effective management plan that enables dental technicians to maintain smooth human relationships for dental technicians should be sought. In addition, heath education and health management for dental technicians should be given more thoroughly so that they can establish desirable health behavior in daily life.
Objectives : In this study, 233 dental hygiene students in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas were surveyed in order to provide the basic data for more effective clinical practice by investigating the stress they experience during the clinical practice and how they cope with stress; Methods : 5 areas in stress factors as environmental factor, interpersonal factor, role and activity, ideal and value, and the amount of BEPSI and 4 areas in their coping methods as problem-oriented, social support, emotion-oriented, and wishful thinking were measured by Liker 5-point scale. Results : 1. The satisfaction level of subjects on their major was the highest as 'generally satisfied (50.6%),' and their satisfaction level of clinical practice was also the highest as 'generally satisfied (32.6%).' 2. The clinical practice stress was 2.76 points on average, and their stress factors were ideal and value (3.18), environmental factor (2.98), role and activity (2,70), the amount of BEPSI (2.55), and interpersonal factor (2.37). And the way how they cope with stress were 3.29 points on average, wishful thinking (3.71), social support (3.36), problem-oriented (3.13), and emotion-oriented (2.95). 3. The clinical practice stress according to clinical training institutions showed significant differences: university dental hospitals and general hospitals (2.83), dental clinics (2.65), and dental hospitals (2.63). 4. The clinical practice stress showed a negative correlation between the satisfaction level of major and the satisfaction level of clinical practice (p<0.01), and the more satisfaction they had in their major and clinical practice, the less stress during the clinical practice. 5. In the correlation between each subordinate factor of the stress in clinical practice and how to cope with it, interpersonal factor and emotion-oriented factor, the amount of BEPSI and wishful thinking showed a positive correlation (p<0.05). Conclusions : In this study, it is necessary to develop clinical practice program that is to increase satisfaction and provide motivation in order to reduce the stress during clinical training.
Purpose: This study was a descriptive study to assess the relationships between acculturative stress and current perception of stress in Korean immigrants. Methods: The subjects consisted of 154 community-dwelling Korean immigrant living in the USA. Data collection was conducted through the use of questionnaires. The instruments for this study were Acculturative stress (12 items), The Global Assessment of Recent Scale(8 items). The collected data were analysed using SPSS PC 12.0 Programme for Frequency, Percentage, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test and Pearson's correlation coefficient according to the purpose of this study. Results: 1) The average item score for acculturative stress was 17.17. The average item score for current perception of stress was 26.56. 2) Acculturative stress was positively related to current perception of stress (r=.360, p<.01). 3) Acculturative stress was significantly different according to educational level (F=2.709, p=.047), occupation (F=16.202, p=.000), perceived income comfort level (F=26.666, p=.000), and type of residence (F=2.672, p=.050). The Current perception of stress was significantly different according to age (F=7.380, p=.000), marital status (F=5.354, p=.006), perceived income comfort level (F=12.738, p=.000), and type of residence(F=4.207, p=.007). Conclusion: Theses findings help to clarify relationships between acculturative stress and current perception of stress in Korean immigrants. Therefore, the result of study provide clues for the quality of life of Korean immigrants.
Background: Stress as a cause of mental health problems is known to be more prevalent in women than in men and has a negative effect on several aspects of physical health, such as the composition of blood and saliva. This study investigated the relationship of perceived stress with blood cell counts, saliva flow rate, and saliva factors. Methods: We recruited women in their 20s with a high prevalence of stress. Stress was evaluated using the Korean version of the perceived stress scale. Blood tests included white blood cell, hemoglobin, and platelet. We then examined the saliva flow rate and cariogenic bacteria level, acidity, occult blood, buffer capacity, leukocyte level, protein level, and ammonia level using rinse water with the SILL-HaⓇ saliva test system. Results: In a total of 70 participants, the average age was 21.64 years old, the average perceived stress score was 16.96±4.32, and high levels of stress were reported by 80% of the participants (n=56). The high-stress group had lower hemoglobin levels. In addition, the high-stress group showed a lower saliva flow rate than the low-stress group, and there was a difference in the salivary acidity and buffer capacity. The total perceived stress score showed a positive correlation with acidity and negative correlation with buffer capacity and the hemoglobin level. Conclusion: This study found that stress in female college students might affect the composition of blood and saliva. High levels of stress were positively correlated with the hemoglobin level, saliva flow rate, and acidity and negatively correlated with the buffer capacity.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between acculturative stress and depression of Vietnamese immigrant workers in Korea. Methods: The subjects were 230 Vietnamese immigrant workers residing legally in B or K City. Data were collected from July 12, 2014 to August 3, 2014, and were analyzed using the SPSS PASW 21.0 program. Results: The average level of acculturative stress was 2.91 and there were significant differences in the score according to whether to have a religion, the number of homeland friends, and Korean language skill. The average depression level of the subjects was 15.3 and the level was different significantly according to whether to have a religion, the number of homeland friends, salary, working hours, and Korean language skill. Acculturative stress and depression showed a significant positive correlation with each other. The influencing factors of depression were acculturative stress and the number of homeland friends. The most significant factor was acculturative stress. Conclusion: This result shows the necessity of various programs to diminish acculturative stress to control the depression of immigrant workers.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze dental technicians' job stress and Job satisfaction level and to examine its correlation. Methods: A self-administered survey was conducted from September 2 to October 2, 2019, on 230 selected dental technicians. The collected data were statistical data on frequency and percentage were obtained, and t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis and regression analysis were carried out. Results: When the job stress was analyzed, there were significant differences according to their field of work, working hours(p<.05). Their average score in the items about a job stress was 3.57. As a result of analyzing the job satisfaction of the dental technicians, there were significant differences according to their working hours, plan for task continuity in dental technician(p<.05). The average score in job satisfaction items was 3.11. Conclusion: As a result of research, that as for the correlation between a job stress and job satisfaction, a higher the job stress led to lower the job satisfaction, as every variable had a significant reverse correlation with each other. In addition, physical environment, heavy workload, conflict during the work performance, personal matters were identified as the factor that exerted the influence on both of job satisfaction.

The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of stress and job satisfaction and the relationship of stress and job satisfaction of oriental hospital nurses. The subjects were 255 nurses of 9 oriental hospital in Taegu and Pusan cities and data were collected from 20 March to 10 May 1998. The instruments used for this study were a survey of genernal characteristics(7 items). stress(6 items) and job satisfaction(20 items). Analysis of data was done by use of mean, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and pearson correlation with SPSS program. The results of this study are as follows : 1) The average item score for stress was 3.08. Religion, duration of nurse expectancy and work motivation among sociodemographic characteristics were significantly different with the degree of stress. 2) The average item score for job satisfaction was 2.84. Education, religion, marital state, carrier history, duration of nurse expectancy and work motivation among sociodemographic characteristics were significantly different with the degree of job satisfaction. 3) There were significant negative correlation among the variables : working volume and group conflict factors · role implementation fators${\cdot}$personal socialization fators/nursing skill and role implementation fatal's· personal socialization fators/rolesharing with peers and role implementation fators/relationship with co-workers and group conflict factors${\cdot}$role implementation fators${\cdot}$personal socialization fators/relationship with patients and role implementation fators/relationship with supervisors and role implementation fators. And there was a significant positive correlation between role-sharing with peers and decision-making fators.
Purpose: This study was conducted to estimate the job stress and depression of female and male service workers and to determine the predictors influencing depression. Method: In this cross-sectional study, the data were collected from hotel, wholesale, and insurance companies. A total of 244 workers were recruited. Among them, 118 were female workers. A self-administered questionnaire was consisted of personal characteristics, job stress, daily life stress, social support, and depression. Depression was measured using a CES-D Korean version. Result: The average job stress of female workers was higher than that of male workers (P<.05). The average depression scores of female workers were higher than those of male workers, but the difference was not statistically significant. Multiple regression analysis showed that role conflict and low social support were significant predictors of depression in female workers. In male workers, role conflict, low social support, and under-utilization of abilities were significant predictors of depression. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that depression of service workers may be prevented by creating a workplace environment that focuses on role conflict and social support. Also, health providers should consider the vulnerability of working women to job stress.
Purpose: This study was conducted to provide fundamental resource in improving the quality of life and stress by understanding the influence of egoresilience and social support by paramedic students during field practice. Methods: The measurement instrument consisted of 100 questions on the general characteristics, egoresilience, social support, stress, and quality of life of the participants. Frequency and descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results: The average scores for egoresilience, social support, and stress were 3.00, 3.14, and 1.68 out of 4.00, respectively. The degree of stress was high enough to be statistically significant in the case of women compared to men, and if unsatisfied with one's major. The average quality of life score was 4.50. The degree of quality of life was high enough to be statistically significant in the case of men compared to women, smokers, drinkers, and if content with one's major. Conclusion: It is suggested that colleges develop programs to increase the satisfaction rate of the students and improve their egoresilience and social support. Such programs would improve the quality of life and address the stress experienced by emergency medical technology students.
