Purpose: This study aimed to determine the degree of job stress and self-esteem of physical therapists as well as the correlation between the two variables. Method: This study targeted 218 physical therapists of Busan City, and was carried out from July 16 to August 6, 2009 as survey research. A structured questionnaire referring to advance researches was used as a research tool. Job stress symptoms were measured one a 5 point scale, the higher the point total, the higher the job stress. Self-esteem was measured on a 4 point scale, the higher the point total, the lower the self-esteem. After data collection we determined descriptive statistics, and did reliability analysis, factor analysis, Spearman's correlation analysis, and regression analysis. Results: Reliability analysis indicated that reliability for the job stress questionnaire was 0.93 and for the self-esteem was 0.83. The average job stress score of physical therapists was 1.19 points which was not high. The average self-esteem score was 1.76 points, whichwas high. It appeared that the higher the self-esteem, the lower the job stress. Also, self-esteem had an influence on psychological symptoms among job stress factors. Conclusion: Job stress and self-esteem of physical therapists are well-correlated and influence each other. Accordingly, self-esteem can be used as a variable for adjusting job stress of physical therapists.

Grit or perseverance as a factor for student success and life has gained increasing attention. Statistical methods have been the norm in analyzing various aspects of grit, but they do not address the transient and dynamic behavior well. We, for the first time, developed two linear dynamical models that specifically address the feedback structure of a child's desire to achieve a high grade point average (GPA) and the necessary effort that will increase stress between parents and a child. We call the dynamical model as GSES (Goal, Status, Effort & Stress). The two dynamical models incorporate the positive (i.e., achieving a high GPA) and the negative sides (i.e., effort and elevated stress and thus unhappiness) for being gritty or perseverant. Different types of parenting style and a child's characteristics were simulated whether parents and a child are empathetic or stubborn to their expectations and stress (i.e., willing or unwilling to change). Simulations show that when both parents and a child are empathetic to each other's expectation and stress, the most stable situations with minimal stress and effort occur. When a stubborn parent's and a stubborn child were studied together, this resulted in the highest elevation of stress and effort. Stubborn parents and a complying or empathetic child resulted in considerably high stress to a child. Interference from parents may unexpectedly result in a situation in which a child's stress is seriously elevated. In this study, the response of 22 soybean cultivar sprouts to flooding stress was investigated. After sprouts were subjected to flooding stress for 10 days at the V4-V5 growth stages, their dry weights were compared. All plants were kept in a greenhouse under natural light conditions, an average daytime temperature of $35.6{\pm}5.3^{\circ}C$ and an average nighttime temperature of $18.2{\pm}1.7^{\circ}C$. Soybeans were grown in a concrete bed filled with silt loam soil. Subjecting plants to flooding stress resulted in a large reduction in plant dry weight, plant height, number of nodes, and number of leaves. Cultivars differed significantly in their responses to flooding stress, as indicated by these characteristics (p<0.05). Soybean cultivars were classified into three groups based on their degree of flood tolerance: strong, moderate, and weak. Hannamkong, Namhaekong, Sobaegnamulkong, and Sorogkong had strong tolerance for flood conditions. Tawonkong, Pureunkong, Eunhakong, Myeongjunamulkong, Doremikong, Saebyeolkong, Paldokong, Sowonkong, Pungsannamulkong, Dagikong, Dachaekong, and Anpyeongkong had weak tolerance for flood conditions.
This study is a discriptive research to identify stress and powerlessness based on Korean hemodialysis patients' constitution. Research subject was 112 hemodialysis patients who are treatment processing in P university hospital and K hemodialysis hospital in S City, and the data were collected for 60 days from December 20, 1999 to January 30, 2000. The research tools used for the measurement of constitution was "QSCC II", the measurement of the stress was Jeon chi ja's "Scale of Hemodialysis patient's Stress"(1985), and the measurement of powerlessness was Kim joe ja's "Scale of Powerlessness"(1992). The reliability of the scale for stress is Cronbach's Alpha 0.8819 and that of powerlessness is Cronbach's Alpha 0.6993. Data analysis was performed using SPSSWin 9.0 software. We tested them with real number, percentage, average score, standard deviation, t-test, F-test(ANOVA), Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and Multiple stepwise regression. The results of this study were as follows : 1. Hemodialysis patients' constitution were : Soyangin 38.4%, Taemin 34.8%, and Soeumin 26.8%. 2. The average score of the stress by hemodialysis patients were the mean $89.72{\pm}20.26$ points. The average score of powerlessness was the mean $34.19{\pm}6.46$ points, by hemodialysis patients. 3. The result of the Pearson Correlation showed no correlation between the score of stress and the score of powerlessness. 4. In their relationship between general characteristics and the score of stress : in marriage state, job(P=0.016, P=0.007) and In their relationship between general characteristics and the score of powerlessness : in age, marriage state, educational level, job(P=0.000, P=0.012, P=0.002, P=0.050) have statistically meaningful differences. 5. The factor affecting the powerlessness of hemodialysis patients was physical area of stress and its explanatory power was 18.5%.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of self-efficacy and collective-efficacy on job stress in the nursing staff. Method: This study surveyed 160 nurses in three general hospitals in the Seoul and Gyung-gi province for two months starting in September 2004. The questionnaire consisted of 54 questions about job stress, 10 questions about self-efficacy, and 7 questions about collective-efficacy. The answers were on a scale rating of 5. The answer sheets were analyzed with descriptive statistics, the t-test, ANOVA, the tukey test, the Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression using SAS version 8.2. Result: The average job stress rating of the nurses was 3.11. The average self-efficacy and the average collective-efficacy were 3.41 and 3.39, respectively. The age, working department, income level, shift-work and hospital have influence on job stress. Efficacies such that self-efficacy and collective-efficacy have influence on job stress. The much efficacy makes the less job stress. The stepwise multiple regression revealed that the significant predictor of job stress was working department and hospital. Conclusion: This study showed that collective-efficacy as well as self-efficacy reduces job stress, so nursing intervention methods should promote collective-efficacy. The collective-efficacy improvement program should be developed to improve job performance, to improve cohesion of nursing units, and to improve satisfaction on the job. The next research could be to develop collective-efficacy improvement programs for nursing units.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the relationship between the experiences of workplace violence and post-traumatic stress disorder and the moderating effect of resilience and social support at work on the relationship in tertiary hospital nurses. Methods: This was a descriptive correlation study to confirm the moderating effect of resilience and social support at work on the factors affecting post-traumatic stress disorder for nurses who have experienced violence. A total of 146 registered nurses were recruited from a tertiary hospital from March to July 2020. The Participants who worked for more than one year and experienced violence at work completed self-reported questionnaires that measured the experiences of workplace violence and post-traumatic stress disorder, resilience, social support at work, and demographic information. The collected data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: The nurses experienced verbal abuse an average of 3.70±2.06 times a week, physical threat an average of 2.30±1.71 times a month, and physical assault an average of 0.76±0.82 times a year. The Experiences of workplace violence were significantly increased post-traumatic stress disorder. The result also showed that resilience moderated the relationship between the experience of verbal abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder in hospital nurses. However, there was no significant moderating effect of social support between workplace violence and post-traumatic stress disorder. Conclusion: The experiences of workplace violence influenced post-traumatic stress disorder in nurses and were moderated by resilience. Therefore, hospital administrators need to develop and provide a workplace violence prevention and resilience reinforcement program to reduce post-traumatic stress disorder in nurses. In addition, we suggest further research on the effect of social support in a workplace on the experiences of violence.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate retrospectively the clinical results of closed reduction and percutaneous screw fixation for unstable injuries on stress radiographs in subtle injuries of Lisfranc joint. Materials and Methods: From June 1997 to March 2003, 6 cases of unstable injuries on stress radiograph in subtle injuries of Lisfranc joint were treated by percutaneous cannulated screw fixation after closed reduction. All cases were injuried by indirect force (twisting injury). The average diastasis between the 1st and 2nd metatarsal base was 3 mm (2-4 mm) on initial nonweight bearing AP radiograph. The average follow-up period was 20 months. Clinical evaluation was assessed according to the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) midfoot score. Results: The AOFAS midfoot score was average 86 (80-90) points. The average diastasis between 1st and 2nd metatarsal base was 2 mm (1-3 mm) on weight bearing AP radiograph in final follow up. The final diastasis was increased slightly than diastasis in initial postoperative radiographs. But the clinical results were good. There was no correlation between the degree of diastasis and the clinical results. On weight bearing lateral radiograph, the average difference with normal foot in the distance between plantar aspect of 5th metatarsus and medial cuneiform was 2 mm (0-3 mm). One case had mild arthritic change on the radiographs. Conclusion: When the Lisfranc injuries, especially in the subtle injuries were suspicious, the stress views are helpful to assess stability of the Lisfranc injuries and planning of treatment. For unstable injuries on stress radiographs in subtle injuries of Lisfranc joint, closed reduction and percutaneous screw fixation is useful method to expect good clinical results.
Accidental events such as collisions, groundings, and hydrocarbon explosions in marine structures can cause catastrophic damage. Thus, it is extremely important to predict the extent of such damage, which determines the total amount of oil spills and the residual hull girder strength. Punching fracture tests were conducted by Choung (2009b), where various sizes of indenters and circular unstiffened steel plates with different thicknesses were used to quasi-statically realize damage extents. A three-dimensional fracture strain surface was developed based on a reference (Choung et al., 2015b), where the average stress triaxiality and average normalized Lode angle were used as the parameters governing the fracture of ductile steels. In this study, new numerical analyses were performed using very fine axisymmetric elements in combination with an Abaqus user-subroutine to implement the three-dimensional fracture strain surface. Conventional numerical analyses were also conducted for the tests to identify the best fit fracture strain values by changing the fracture strains. Based on the phenomenon of the average normalized Lode angle starting out positive and then becoming slightly negative, it was inferred that the shear stress primarily dominates in determining the fractures locations, with a partial contribution from the compressive stress. It should be stated that the three-dimensional fracture surface effectively predicted at least the shear stress-dominant fracture behavior of a mild steel.

The objects of this research are to establish the criteria of peel occurrence considering the shape of bond terminus and to compare the strength properties of adhesive joint of different three type such as butt joint, T-shape, and single lap Joints. The criteria of peel occurrence at the bond terminus was suggested. Peel loads of three type adhesive joint (butt Joint, T-shape specimen, single lap joint) were determined from tensile tests. Principal stress distributions of these joints were determined from finite element method analysis. Then, peel occurrence was estimated with stress singularity factor$(K_{prin})$ when the terminus shape was square, with average principal stress when the terminus shape was rounded. The conclusions are summarized as follows; (1) In the non-filleted model(e.g., butt joint, T-shape specimen), principal stress shows singularity at the bond terminus, intensity of stress(principal stress) singularity $(K_{prin})$ can use as the criteria of peel occurrence at the bond terminus. (2) In the filleted model(e.g., single lap joint), principal stress has not affected singularity at the bond terminus. Average principal stress$(K_{av})$ can use as the criteria of peel occurrence at the bond terminus.
