  • To evaluate whether or not their product is in conformity with its drawing, today's factories manufacturing rubber and/or plastic products use manual process. In manual conformity inspection process, a person decides conformity as comparing drawing to image of product with his eyes. The manual process is tedious and time-consuming in addition that it is impossible to automatically record various informations related to inspection. To solve such problems, this paper proposes automatic drawing conformity inspection system based on computer vision technologies such as image feature matching and bilinear interpolation. The test results show that proposed system is a lot faster when comparing with manual system.

  • The automatic inspection system is developed for the formed end part of automotive fuel pipe. The developed system has functions of outer diameter and formed end length measurement by LVDT(linear variable differential transformer) together with burr cleaning of automotive fuel pipe. The measured data are managed and controlled in real time by embedded SPC(statistical process control) program. The system is composed of mechanical part, electronic part and developed software system. These three parts operate automatically by mutual communication with each other. The developed system showed good results in finding inferior goods and efficiency improvement of the fuel pipe production line. It also eliminated the unreliable manual inspection processes and improved the confidence of product quality.

  • The automatic detection of artifacts and vigilance level as for pre-processing of the automatic EEG interpretation are discussed. The equations for detecting artifacts and vigilance level were determined such that they would conform to the procedures that an EEGer (one of the authors, H.S.) usually adopts for visual inspection of the actual EEG record. The automatic EEG interpretation was found to be improved by the newly developed pre-processing method even will artifact contamination or in drowsy condition of the subjects.

  • A new system for automatic interpretation of the awake electroencephalogram(EEG) was developed in this work. We first clarified all the necessary items for EEG interpretation in accordance with an analysis of visual inspection of the rhythms by a qualified electroencephalographer (EEGer), and then defined each item quantitatively. Concerning the automatic interpretation, we made an effort to find out specific EEG parameters which faithfully represent the procedure of visual interpretation by the qualified EEGer. Those specific EEG parameters were calculated from periodograms of the EEG time series. By using EEG data of 14 subjects, the automatic EEG interpretation system was constructed and compared with the visual interpretation done by the EEGer. The automatic EEG interpretation thus established was proved to be in agreement with the visual interpretation by the EEGer.

  • This paper presents a new eddy current testing system for inspecting tubes of steam generator in nuclear power plant. The proposed system adopted embedded expert system concept to automate tasks of the inspection such as inspection planning and flaw signal interpretation, and integrated all the tasks into a client/server type computing architecture using database management system. Therefore, human factor errors occurred during inspection could be minimized and the inspection data could be transferred in real-time. As a result, we can increase the level of inspection confidence and the productivity of a personal inspector. A prototype of the proposed system has been developed for 5 years and the test operation has been performed in domestic nuclear power plants.

  • Precision screws have a wide range of industrial applications such as electrical and automotive products. To produce screw threads with high precision, not only high precision manufacturing technology but also reliable measurement technology is required. Machine vision systems have been used in the automatic inspection of screw threads based on backlight illumination, which cannot detect defects on the thread surface. Recently, an omnidirectional inspection system for screw threads was developed to obtain $360^{\circ}$ images of screws, based on front light illumination. In this study, the illumination design for the omnidirectional inspection system was modified by adding a light shield to improve the image uniformity. Optical simulation for various shield designs was performed to analyze image uniformity of the obtained images. The simulation results were analyzed statistically using response surface method, from which optical performance of the omnidirectional inspection system could be optimized in terms of image quality and uniformity.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a practical image inspection system that could recognize it correctly, endowing flexibility to the productive field, although the same object for work will be changed in the size and rotated. In this experiment, it selected a fighter, rotating the direction from $30^{\circ}\;to\;45^{\circ}$ simultaneously while changing the size from 1/4 to 1/16, as an object inspection without using another hardware for exclusive image processing. The invariant moments, Hu has suggested, was used as feature vector moment descriptor. As a result of the experiment the image inspection system developed from this research was operated in real-time regardless of the chance of size and rotation for the object inspection, and it maintained the correspondent rates steadily above from 94% to 96%. Accordingly, it is considered as the flexibility can be considerably endowed to the factory automation when the image inspection system developed from this research is applied to the productive field.

  • In this paper, a quality inspection system was developed to identify the defective assembly of connectors used in automobile wiring. For waterproof connectors, an internal seal must be inserted for waterproofing. However, there are cases where it is omitted or double-inserted during production. An automatic inspection jig was designed using photosensors and touch switches to classify good and bad connector components. In the case of the existing visual inspection, 6,400 connectors were inspected when 5 people inspected for 8 hours. However, when using the inspection jig developed under the same conditions, 20,000 pieces were inspected. In other words, the productivity is greatly improved compared to the conventional visual inspection.

  • In order to reduce the weight of parts and materials for the development of high-efficiency engines in accordance with the strengthening of automobile fuel efficiency regulations, the existing casting material is changed to a iron plate material, and plastic processing and turning operations are performed to lighten the weight and reduce the manufacturing cost. Among the pulley components applied to the damper pulley, the HUB product was manufactured by plastic machining instead of the existing casting process, and the inspection standardized for automating the inner diameter and parallelism measurement of the turning result of the new hub part with improved quality, and the inspection system for this Development of design and operation software to automate the inspection of the inner diameter and parallelism of the hub was described. The representative specifications of the development equipment are a hub inner diameter 22mm inspection system, a three-point inspection system with a parallelism of 0.15mm on the top.

  • Automatic test equipment for field maintenance of aircraft mounted equipment is effective for integrated design when operating a small number of aircraft for special purposes. The integrated automatic test equipment identifies commonly used interfaces and is used for branching or generating routes for each unit under test specific inspection. High-precision signals such as RTD, TC, and analog voltage can cause measurement errors due to conduction resistance during signal branching and connection when generating branches and paths. The measurement error caused by the resistance of the wire leads to a lot of restrictions in designing the equipment to be inspected. In this paper, we propose a method of calibrating highly accurate signals of an integrated automatic inspection equipment that minimizes measurement errors of analog voltage and high - precision signals.
