The two characteristics of two-lane-and-two-way traffic flow are platoon and overtaking triggered by low-speed vehicle. It is crucial to develop a robust model which simultaneously generates the behaviors of platoon by low-speed vehicle and overtaking using opposite lane. Hence, a microscopic two-lane and two-way vehicle model was introduced (B. Yoon, 2011), which is based on CA (Cellular Automata) which is one of discrete time-space models, in Korea. While the model very reasonably explains the behaviour of overtaking low-speed vehicle in stable traffic flow below critical density, it has shortcomings to the overtaking process in unstable traffic flow above the critical density. Therefore, the objective of this study is to develope a vehicle model to more realistically explain overtaking process in unstable traffic flow state based on the model developed in the previous study. The experimental results revealed that the car-following model robustly generates the various macroscopic relationships of traffic flow generating stop-and-go traffic flow and the overtaking model reasonably explains the behaviors of overtaking under the conditions of both opposite traffic flow and stochastic parameter to consider overtaking in unstable traffic flow state. The vehicle model presented in this study can be expected to be utilized for the analysis of two-lane-and-two-way traffic flows more realistically than before.

Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) is one of the most promising next generation nanoelectronic devices which will inherit the throne of CMOS which is the domineering implementation technology for large scale low power digital systems. In late 1990s, the basic operations of the QCA cell were already demonstrated on a hardware implementation. Also, design tools and simulators were developed. Nevertheless, its design technology is not quite ready for ultra large scale designs. This paper proposes a new approach which enables the QCA designs to inherit the verification methodologies and tools of CMOS designs, as well. First, a set of disciplinary rules strictly restrict the cell arrangement not to deviate from the predefined structures but to guarantee the deterministic digital behaviors is proposed. After the gate and interconnect structures of. the QCA design are identified, the signal integrity requirements including the input path balancing of majority gates, and the prevention of the noise amplification are checked. And then the digital logic is extracted and stored in the OpenAccess common engineering database which provides a connection to a large pool of CMOS design verification tools. Towards validating the proposed approach, we designed a 2-bit adder, a bit-serial adder, and an ALU bit-slice. For each design, the digital logic is extracted, translated into the Verilog net list, and then simulated using a commercial software.

This paper describes Connected Digit Recognition with Considering Acoustic Feature in Korea. The recognition rate of connected digit is usually lower than word recognition. Therefore, speech feature parameter and acoustic feature are employed to make robust model for digit, and we could confirm the effect of Considering. Acoustic Feature throughout the experience of recognition. We used KLE 4 connected digit as database and 19 continuous distributed HMM as PLUs(Phoneme Like Units) using phonetical rules. For recognition experience, we have tested two cases. The first case, we used usual method like using Mel-Cepstrum and Regressive Coefficient for constructing phoneme model. The second case, we used expanded feature parameter and acoustic feature for constructing phoneme model. In both case, we employed OPDP(One Pass Dynamic Programming) and FSA(Finite State Automata) for recognition tests. When appling FSN for recognition, we applied various acoustic features. As the result, we could get 55.4% recognition rate for Mel-Cepstrum, and 67.4% for Mel-Cepstrum and Regressive Coefficient. Also, we could get 74.3% recognition rate for expanded feature parameter, and 75.4% for applying acoustic feature. Since, the case of applying acoustic feature got better result than former method, we could make certain that suggested method is effective for connected digit recognition in korean.
The floor field model (hereafter referred to as FFM) is a cellular automata (hereafter referred to as CA)-based walk model used to model pedestrian behavior. Existing studies on FFM conducted experiments with simple structures (that have one room or one obstacle in a room) or relatively complicated structures (that have many rooms). In order to apply the FFM to real buildings, it is necessary to have additional methodologies to process information about the number of rooms, floors, stairs, and exit doors. In particular, it is necessary to process exit doors during this procedure. Exit doors that are recognized by pedestrians are of many types such as exit doors in rooms, stairs connected to corridors, and exit doors in a building. When calculating the static floor field (hereafter referred to as SFF) in the FFM, information about exit doors is needed and simulation results will be different depending on how the SFF is calculated using an exit door among the above-mentioned exit doors. In this study, an XML-format building data model is proposed according to data structures required by the FFM. This study also defines a methodology to process a number of exit doors. Accordingly, this study developed a building data construction and evacuation simulator and simulation experiments were conducted with university campus building.
The ATIS(Advance Traveler Information System), as one part of ITS, is a system aiming to disperse traffic volume on transportation networks by providing traffic information to transportation users on pre-trip and en-route trips. One of tools in ATIS is usage of VMS(Variable Message Signs). It provides to the drivers with direct information about state of processing direction. which is considered as the most effective method in ATIS. The purposes of providing VMS information are classified two categories. One is to provide simple information to drivers for their convenience. The other is to manage traffic demand to improve transportation network performance. However, for more effective and reliable VMS information, several strategies should be taken into account. The main VMS management strategy is "Traffic Diversion Strategy for minimum delay" when traffic congestion or incident are occurred. For effective operation. firstly. reasonable diversion traffic volume is determined by network traffic condition Secondly, it is necessary to make providing information strategy which reflects driver response behavior for controling diversion traffic volume. This paper focuses on the providing real-time route guidance information by VMS when congestion is occurred by the incidents. This sturdy estimates time-dependent system optimal diversion rate that inflects travel time and queue lengths using traffic flow simulation model on base Cellular Automata. In addition, route choice behavior models are developed using binary logit model for traffic information variable by traffic system controller. Finally, this study provides time-dependent VMS massage contents and degree of providing information in order to optimize the traffic flow.

To verify software vulnerability, the method of conjecturing software structure and then testing the software based on the conjectured structure has been highlighted. To utilize the method, an efficient way to conjecture software structure is required. The popular graph and tree methods such as DFG(Data Flow Graph), CFG(Control Flow Graph) and CFA(Control Flow Automata) have a serious drawback. That is, they cannot express software in a hierarchical fashion. In this paper, we propose a method to overcome the drawback. The proposed method applies various input data to a binary code, generate CFG's based on the code output and construct a HCFG (Hierarchical Control Flow Graph) to express the generated CFG's in a hierarchical structure. The components required for HCFG and progressive algorithm to construct HCFG are also proposed. The proposed method is verified through constructing the software architecture of an open SMTP(Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server program. The structure generated by the proposed method and the real program structure are compared and analyzed.
Because forest fires are predicted to increase in severity and frequency under global climate change with important environmental implications, an understanding of fire dynamics is critical for mitigation of these negative effects. For the reason, researchers with different background, such as ecologists, physicists, and mathematical biologists, have developed the simulation models to mimic the forest fire spread patterns. In this study, we suggested a novel model considering the wind effect. Our theoretical forest was comprised of two different tree species with varying probabilities of transferring fire that were randomly distributed in space at densities ranging from 0.0 (low) to 1.0 (high). We then studied the distributional patterns of burnt trees using a two-dimensional stochastic cellular automata model with minimized local rules. We investigated the time, T, that the number of burnt trees reaches 25% of the whole trees for different values of the initial tree density, fire transition probability, and the degree of wind strength. Simulation results showed that the values of T decreased with the increase of tree density, and the wind effect decreased in the case of too high or low tree density. We believe that our model can be a useful tool to explore forest fire spreading patterns.
This study predicted urban green spaces for 2020 based on two scenarios keeping or freeing the green-belt in the Daegu metropolitan city using a hybrid Cellular Automata(CA)-Markov model and analyzed the spatial dynamics of urban green spaces between 2009 and 2020 using a land cover change detection technique and spatial metrics. Markov chain analysis was employed to derive the transition probability for projecting land cover change into the future for 2020 based on two land cover maps in 1998 and 2009 provided by the Ministry of Environment. Multi-criteria evaluation(MCE) was adopted to develop seven suitability maps which were empirically derived in relation to the six restriction factors underlying the land cover change between the years 1998 and 2009. A hybrid CA-Markov model was then implemented to predict the land cover change over an 11 year period to 2020 based on two scenarios keeping or freeing the green-belt. The projected land cover for 2009 was cross-validated with the actual land cover in 2009 using Kappa statistics. Results show that urban green spaces will be remarkably fragmented in the suburban areas such as Dalseong-gun, Seongseo, Ansim and Chilgok in the year 2020 if the Daegu metropolitan city keeps its urbanization at current pace and in case of keeping the green-belt. In case of freeing the green-belt, urban green spaces will be fragmented on the fringes of the green-belt. It is thus required to monitor urban green spaces systematically considering the spatial change patterns identified by this study for sustainably managing them in the Daegu metropolitan city in the near future.
On the whole, the simple GAs with just one population set is effective in finding one optimal solution. However, many real world problems have a lot of optimal solutions, and often it is important to find all of them. In this paper, we propose a GA that has a population set containing multiple optimal solutions. In the proposed GA, each of the individuals in population set has its own geological neighbors, and they exchange their genes globally as well as compete with others locally. The paper then evaluates the proposed GA along with many multimodal problems including a 30bit, order-six bipolar-deceptive function. Finally, we present some improvement directions of the proposed GA.
This study aims to analyze the sensitivity of WSM(weighted scenario method)-AHP method according to variation of nonlinear exponent for accessibility criteria, which are used to make urbanization potential maps with the optimal weighting value for multiple criteria in grid-based GIS technique. Besides this study tried to develop WSM-AHP2 which is simplified by using rank of the potential value for each scenario. The two methods were applied to the test area, Suwon city located south area of Seoul, with time series land-use maps of 1986 and 1996. The evaluation system of urbanization potential have 7 criteria including 6 accessibility criteria. The results of WSM-AHP2, the optimal weighting values and their corresponding potential maps, have almost similar with those of WSM-AHP. In the application of CA(cellular automata) model for expansion of urbanized area using the three potential maps by WSM-AHP, WSM-AHP2, and specialists's AHP evaluation, it also showed that the accuracy of simulation for actual urban area is the highest in the potential map of WSM-AHP, followed by WSM-AHP2 and specialists's AHP evaluation. From the results of this study, WSM-AHP and simplified WSM-AHP2 will be used to generate the optimal potential maps for land-use planning in urban fringe area.
