  • The severe-profound hearing impaired children have various disorders in everday communication due to the lack of hearing feedback. Especially, their speech produced unstable voice, omission and distortion of articulation, pitch break, cul-de-sac voice, and so on so that they were difficult to accurately deliver an intended message. This study attempts to analyze the acoustic characteristics of 4 vowel sounds produced by 35 severe-profound hearing impaired children using CSL(Computerized Speech Lab, Model 4300b). The formant data were obtained from the spectrogram and analyzed data by 12 formant filter and auto-correlation among the formants. Results showed that the hearing impaired children's formant values came out very high. They produced the vowels at the mode of hypertension with unstable voice. In order to improve their speech, they would need some adequate auditory feedback.

  • Monitoring auto correlated processes is prevalent in recent manufacturing environments. As a proactive control for manufacturing processes is emphasized especially in the semiconductor industry, it is natural to monitor real-time status of equipment through sensor rather than resultant output status of the processes. Equipment's sensor data show various forms of correlation features. Among them, considerable amount of sensor data, statistically autocorrelated, is well represented by Box-Jenkins autoregressive moving average (ARMA) model. In this paper, we present a design method of statistical process control (SPC) used for monitoring processes represented by the ARMA model. The proposed method shows benefits in the power of detecting process changes, and considers robustness to ARMA modeling errors simultaneously. We prove benefits through Monte carlo simulation-based investigations.

  • In the ATs(Auto-Transformers)-fed AC electric railroad system, the trolley wire with high power is supported with a messenger by the dropper. As the dropper maintains the height of the trolley wire and plays a role in distributing the supply power, it should be stabilized in that an electric and mechanical character accord ins the change of the open air circumstance and constructed easily. Consequently, this paper propose C5111 Sn(3.5$\sim$4.5%) and hexagonal round bolt for the way of the efficient stabilization as a result of the test that the correlation of the Sn content and the change of temperature affect a character of product.

  • PPG signal measured by pulse oximeter can measure pulse and the oxygen saturation of arterial blood. But the PPG signal is distorted by finger movement or other movement in the body. To detect pulse from the PPG signal with motion artifact, we use band pass filter(BPF), Independent component analysis(ICA) and nonlinear autocorrelation(NAC). BPF is used to remove DC component and high frequency noise in the PPG signal with motion artifacts. ICA is used to separate pulse signal and motion artifact. However, pulse signal separated by ICA have no choice but to accompany signal distortion because pulse signal and motion artifact are not completely independent. So, we use nonlinear autocorrelation to emphasize the pure pulse signal from the distorted signal.

  • In this paper, a method for assessment of the anisotropic machined surfaces is proposed. Fractal dimension (FD) is calculated using structure function and an index of the anisotropy is obtained as a ratio of its maximum and minimum value. The upper limit of fractal region on the structure function is determined as the length of the lag where the autocorrelation function shows 20% of its maximum value. The model of the structure function is derived from that of the auto correlation function. And, it shows that the new method and the proposed index of anisotropy are useful.

  • The daytime(7 a.m to 10 p.m.) and the nighttime(10 p.m. to 7 a.m.) used to calculate existing $L_{dn}$ is different from the domestic daytime(6 a.m to 10 p.m.) and nighttime(10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) periods. The difference of a time periods makes too difficult for converting measured $L_{eq}$ during daytime($L_d$) and nighttime($L_n$) periods to $L_{dn}$. Thus, it is difficult to directly compare with $L_{dn}$ standard of a foreign country. The pupose of paper is to propose a proper experimental equations that make up for the problems. The data of this paper used road traffic noise data of Auto-Network System(ANS) that generates $L_{eq}$ TNI, $L_{NP}$ for 1 hour. A method of this paper is as follows.(1) The data of ANS converted 24 hour $L_{eq}$ which measured every 1 hour to existing $L_{dn}$ and to $L_{dn}$ of an experimental equations.(2) The existing Lan is compared to results of $L_{dn}$ from experimental equations. The paper proposes a three experimental equations. This paper select an approximate equation that was most similar, to existing $L_{dn}$ out of these equations. When $L_{eq}$ data of different daytime and nighttime periods are converted to $L_{dn}$, an experimental equation of this paper can be used and applied to $L_{dn}$'s calculation.

  • The difficulties in opening and closing a sport utility vehicle (SUV) tailgate is important aspect of JD (James David) power's Initial Quality Survey (IQS) assessment, and affective quality has a big impact on the the success of thesedays products. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the perceived difficulty and satisfaction of customers by the opening and closing of the tailgate and to grasp the relationship between them and the opening and closing reaction force. The mechanical force required to open and close 42 domestic and overseas SUV tailgates was measured with the help of an auto company. In the experiment, 100 male drivers in their 20s to 50s evaluated perceived difficulty and satisfaction with opening and closing the tailgate. The results of the analysis showed that perceived difficulty and satisfaction were statistically different depending on the vehicle, but did not depend on the personal characteristics of the participants. The perceived difficulty and satisfaction regression model of tailgate opening and closing was developed by mechanical force variables and had a relatively high adjusted $R^2$ ranging from 0.62 to 0.73. The models showed that the the initial close and open force, the difference between initial and maximum close force and the difference between initial and auto-fall angle should be small for the low perceived exertion and high satisfaction. In addition, the correlation analysis between IQS score of tailages and perceived difficulty and satisfaction showed that the IQS scores were more related to the perceived difficulty and satisfaction of closing than those of opening. The results of the study will be helpful to design and test mechanical open and close structure of SUV tailgates.

  • The fatality of rollover accidents in motor vehicle crashes is high despite their low incidence. Through the investigation of a 12-passenger van rollover accident in which 10 passengers were involved, we intend to analyze the correlation between the severity of the injury and the position of the occupants. We collected accident information from medical records, interviews, photo-images of the damaged van, field surveys, and the results of the Korean New Car Assessment Program (KNCAP). Based on the occupants' position, we classified injury sites and estimated injury severity. Passenger injury severity was evaluated by trauma score calculation. The initiation type of the rollover accident was passenger side 'fall-over' and the Collision Deformation Classification (CDC) code for the damaged van was 00TDZO3. The crash of the van involved 10 passengers, with an average age of $16.3{\pm}4.2years$. Few of the occupants had fastened seat belts at the time of the incident, and there was no airbag installed. One patient sustained severe liver injury and another was diagnosed with a fracture of the right humerus. The most common injuries were at the upper extremities and the neck. The average of Injury Severity Score (ISS) was $4.8{\pm}5.9$, and the average ISS of right-seated, mid-seated and left-seated occupants was $7.5{\pm}9.3$, $1.5{\pm}0.7$, and $3.3{\pm}2.1$ respectively (p>0.05). In the rollover (to-passenger side) accident of occupant unfastened, the average ISS of right-seated occupants (near side) was higher, but there was no statistically significant difference.

  • This study deals with the accident models by vehicle type. The goal is to develop the accident models by vehicle type using the data of 143 4-legged signalized intersections in Cheongju. In pursuing the above, this study gives the particular attentions to explaining the relationships between the values of EPDO(equivalent property damage only) and the traffic and geometric elements. The main results analyzed are the followings. First, 6 negative binomial models are developed, which are all significant at the 90% confidence level. Second, the values of ${\rho}^2$ by vehicle type are 0.14307(auto), 0.35556(large van), 0.21684(small van), 0.205152(motocycle), 0.32338(light-duty truck) and 0.29046(heavy-duty truck), that are all analyzed to be statistically significant. Finally, the common variable included in all models is ADT(average daily traffic), and the specific variable(SV) of auto is analyzed to be the sum of lane width of main road, SV of large van is the average yellow time, and SV of small van is the difference in the number of lane between main and minor road.
