This study in the treatment of autistic horse therapy of children with disabilities that affect the perception of parents is to some extent how well treatment for a sense of purpose and a horse therapy was to evaluate the expectations. As parents of autistic children with disabilities a questionnaire study of 100 people was used as a research tool. Analysis of the frequency analysis method, Chi-square Analysis were analyzed by taking advantage of each. Parents interested in horse therapy and children who do not have the experience of riding. In addition, Parents who have children age 10-20 riding in the response was that there would be effects Understanding mainly ride horses in the horse therapy is physical exercise. And therapy and exercise that combines specific area of expertise, as is the way to help. In addition, behavior modification, and it is used as a way to improve. Expectations in the therapeutic horse therapy should be major(occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy). Horse therapy is suitable for individual therapy at least for 2-3 weeks and the Confederacy.

A double bhad, placebo controlled study was performed to evaluate the therapeutic effects of Carbamazepine in autistic children, 23 boys with the diagnosis of Pervasive Developmental Disorders according to the DSM-IIIR were selected for study subjects, from Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Outpatient Department of Seoul National University Children Hospital during Oct. $1989{\sim}Nov.$ 1991. Subjects with histories of medical disease or psychiatric diseases were excluded and all study subjects had drug free periods more than 2 Months. Study subjects were randomly assigned to Cabamazepine treatment group(N=12) and placebo group(N=11). After the baseline observation periods, the double blind drug treatment and observation were performed for 12 weeks. Several scales (Ritvo-Freedman Real Life atring Scale. Behavior Checklist) were employed to evaluate the effects of drug treatment during baseline observation periods and the drug treatment periods by two raters blind to the study. Interrater reliability of each scales were .4875~.6613, the socrodemographic variables and the rating scores during baseline observation periods were not significantly different between two groups. Reduction of total scores in Autsm Behavior Checklist scale, i.e.. improvement of global autistic symptoms were noted significantly in Carbamazepine treatment group. Improvement in significant social maturations according to Vineland Social Mataration scale were observed in both patient groups after drug treetment periods.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the program for the autistic children which was designed to promote mother-child attachment. The subjects of this study were consisted of 11 pairs of mother and child( 7 for participant group:PG, 4 for non-participant group: NPG), who were diagnosed as Pervasive Developmental Disorder. The intervention was consisted with play activity centered mother-child interaction, educational activity for mothers, lecture, video-feedback, and supports. The main data were collected by video-taping and analyzed by Wilcoxon Rank Sign Test, and Content Analysis. The results obtained were as follows, 1. Before the program, there were no significant group differences on the children's and the mother's characteristics. After the program, total score on the attachment of PG was higher than that of NPG, but not significant. Only proximity-seeking behaviors and contact-maintaining behaviors were higher significantly(p<.05). Then the characteristics on contact- maintaining behaviors of PG were lasting longer and reciprocal than those of NPG. 2. After the program, the score on mother's nurturing behavior of PG was significantly more increased. The mother's behaviors to her child of PG became more child- centered, positively responsive, expressive supportively. But there were pretty big individual difference. It can be concluded that Mother-child Attachment Promotion Program is effective. Thus it can be recommended to be a early intervention model for autistic children.

Objectives: Regression, while not a core symptom of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), has been suggested to be a distinct subtype by previous studies. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the prevalence and clinical differences between those with and without regression in children with ASD. Methods: This study includes data from toddlers and young children aged 2-7 years acquired from other projects at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. The presence and characteristics of regression were explored using question items #11-28 from the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised. Chi-square and independent t-tests were used to compare various clinical measurements such as autistic symptoms, adaptative behavior, intelligence, and perinatal factors. Results: Data from 1438 young children (1020 with ASD) were analyzed. The overall prevalence rate of regression, which was mainly related to language-related skills, was 10.2% in the ASD group, with an onset age of 24 months. Regarding clinical characteristics, patients with ASD and regression experienced ASD symptoms, especially restricted and repetitive interests and behaviors, with greater severity than those without regression. Furthermore, there were significant associations between regression and hypertension/placenta previa. Conclusion: In-depth surveillance and proactive interventions targeted at young children with ASD and regression should focus on autistic symptoms and other areas of functioning.
Individuals with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) have difficulty inferring other people's feelings from their facial expressions and/or from situational cues, and therefore, they are less able to respond with prosocial behavior. We developed a computer-based training program to help teach the connection between facial-based or situation-based emotions and prosocial behavioral responses. An 8-year-old male school child with ASD participated in the study. In this program, he was trained to identify persons in need of help and appropriate prosocial responses using novel photo-based scenarios. When he misidentified emotions from photographs of another's face, the program highlighted those parts of the face which effectively communicate emotion. To increase the likelihood that he would learn a generalized repertoire of emotional understanding, multiple examples of emotional expressions and situations were provided. When he misidentified persons expressing a need for help, or failed to identify appropriate helping behaviors, role playing was used to help him appreciate the state of mind of a person in need of help. The results of the training indicated increases in prosocial behaviors during a laboratory task that required collaborative work. His homeroom teacher, using a behavioral rating scale, reported that he now understood another's emotion or situation better than before training. These findings indicate the effects of the training are not limited to the artificial experiment situation, but also carried over to his school life.
Autistic children have difficulties in communication. They tend to have more difficulties in general expression than in understanding sentences. This thesis tested the effect of music activities on children who have difficulties in language expression. As a research method, a group of autistic middle school students was selected who were attending normal schools. Three male students were selected for the test of K-ABC and CARS. Music treatments on the selected students were applied fifteen times, twice a week, for thirty minutes every time. The total treatment process could be divided into two stages. The stage one included the first twelve treatments and the stage two included following three treatments. In the stage one, the selected autistic students learned twenty four musics under real-world-like social circumstances. In the stage two, the students repeatedly learned the twenty four musics. A week before beginning the music treatment, the students were tested by PRES and a test developed by the author of this thesis. And a week after all treatments were completed, the students were tested again with the same test method to check if the students' expressive language ability got improved. The results of the research were as the following: First, the music treatment helped improve the autistic student's ability of expressing themselves such as 'requesting', 'rejecting', 'applying social customs' and 'providing information'. Second, the author of this thesis first had a hypothesis that the tested students might show different levels of achievements according to their intellectual ability or expressive language ability in K-ABC test, PRES and CARS. But it was not true. The student's level of achievement by music activities was proved not to have a significant correlation with their intellectual or expressive language abilities in the tests. Third, it was found that, through pre- and post-test of PRES, the music treatments could improve the receptive language ability as well as the expressive language ability. It saw great effect that musical data that utilize in specially this research investigator according to children's ability, autistic children write lyrics setting in social circumstance that is revealed much routinely and composes. To front, expect that suitable a lot of musics are developed in function and ability of subject person for elevation of expressive language ability.

Autism is characterized by pervasive impairments in social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication and restricted and stereotyped behavior. It is difficult for autism patients to receive dental treatment as lack of cooperation, so various behavior management method have been tried for dental treatment in clinic. The patients with mild autism can be managed by conventional behavior modification method and phamaco-logical conscious sedation. But the patients with severe autism and multiple dental caries can be treated by deep sedation or general anesthesia. The benefits of children's dental care in general anesthesia are full-mouth rehabilitation in one single appointment. We reported three cases of autism patients who were treated by various behavior management method as to severity of autism.

Objectives: Problem behaviors pose a great obstacle to daily functioning in children with neurodevelopmental deficits and are an important target for treatment. In this study, we translated the Behavior Problems Inventory (BPI)-01 into Korean language and tested its psychometric properties. Methods: We attained the approval of the BPI author and performed standard translation-back translation. Then, professional caregivers examined appropriateness according to cultural and situational contexts in order to make necessary modifications of the Korean version of the BPI. Results: The BPI-01, Korea-Scales of Independent Behavior-Revised (K-SIB-R), and Child Behavior Checklist were completed for 98 autistic spectrum disorder or intellectual development disorder participants (mean age=28.3, standard deviation=7.3, range=10.1-51.7). The inter-rater reliability of the BPI-01 was found to be high (r=0.992-1.000). As for the results for concurrent validity for subscale items of BPI-01 and scales of SIB, correlations between SIB and BPI-01 subscales were statistically significant (r=0.357-0.672). Discussion: The Korean version of the BPI-01 showed good psychometric properties with high reliability and sufficient convergent validity. Further examination of the validity of BPI-01 should be carried out with inclusion of younger aged children and a closer look at less frequently occurring symptoms.
The purpose of this study was to analyze coping behavior types of mothers of autistic children. Through the use of Q methodology using a sample of 23 pairs of mothers and therapists, four factors were derived that account for the coping strategies of mothers of children with autism. The mothers of the first type have either accepted their child's disability and their own situation. For the second type, the mothers engaged in therapeutic work for their child with a positive attitude. These mothers accepted their child as a family member. The third type shared ambivalent feelings and responses regarding their child's disability. And the last type expressed concerns and difficulties related to the situation. They tried to get social support to deal with the stressful situation. The agreement of mothers'psychological adjustment from the exports'and mothers'perceptive was found to be 52%.
Rett syndrome (RS) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by loss of cognitive, motor, and social skills, epilepsy, autistic behavior, abnormal airway patterns, gastroesophageal reflux, nutritional problems, and severe scoliosis. Although girls with RS show normal or near-normal growth until 6-8 months, they lose their skills after that. The anesthetic management of these patients requires care because of all these clinical features. Especially in the postoperative period, prolonged apnea is common and extubation is delayed. In this case report, the effect of using sugammadex was presented in a 16-year-old girl with RS. The patient's all bimaxillary teeth and 4 wisdom teeth were extracted under general anesthesia in one session with minimal surgical trauma and moderate bleeding. Sugammadex can be a rapid and reliable agent for the reversal of the neuromuscular block in neurodegenerative patients.
