The Relationship of Engineering Education Accreditation Program, Gender, and Academic Year with Attitude towards Convergence among Engineering Students: Application of Latent Class Analysis (공과대학 학생들의 융합에 대한 태도와 공학교육인증, 성별, 학년과의 관련성 -잠재집단분석의 적용-)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate engineering students' attitude toward convergence and relevance with engineering education accreditation, gender, and academic year and attitude toward convergence. To be specific, fist, we examined whether the instrument for measuring attitudes toward convergence were reliable and valid for engineering students. Second, we compared levels of attitudes toward convergence in terms of engineering education accreditation, gender and academic year. Third, latent classes, which were distinguished in terms of attitudes toward convergence, were identified. Participants were 2076 engineering students. By using factor analysis and Rasch analysis, validity and reliability of instrument measuring attitudes toward convergence were confirmed. The differences in attitude toward convergence in terms of engineering education accreditation experience, gender, and academic year were examined by independent t-test and ANOVA. There were significant differences in attitude towards convergence in terms of engineering education accreditation, gender, and academic year. Students who experience engineering education accreditation program and male and high academic year have higher levels of attitude toward convergence than others. Lastly latent class analysis (LCA) was conducted to identify subgroups underlying engineering students in terms of attitude toward convergence and five latent classes were identified. In addition, the chi-square results showed that there were significant relationships between identified latent classes and engineering education accreditation, gender, and academic year. Based on these results, engineering education considering students' characteristics and diversity in attitude toward convergence were discussed.

Effects of Convergence Firefighter Helmet Attributes on Consumer Response (융합 소방용 안전모 특성이 소비자 반응에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigates the effects of convergence firefighter helmet attributes on consumer attitude toward the product and willingness-to-pay. The results of empirical analysis are as follows. First, consumer attitude toward the convergence product is more favorable when conciseness, economical efficiency, and the utility value of the convergence product's attributes are high, while consumer attitude toward the convergence product is less favorable when the perceived risk of the convergence product's attributes is high. Second, consumer willingness-to-pay for the convergence product is higher when conciseness, economical efficiency, and the utility value of the convergence product's attributes are high, while consumer willingness-to-pay for the convergence product is lower when the perceived risk of the convergence product's attributes is high. Based on our results, the implications are discussed for the further development of convergence products.

The Development and Validation of Instrument for Measuring High School Students' Attitude Toward Convergence (고등학생들의 융합에 대한 태도 검사도구의 개발과 타당화)

  • This study aims to develop and validate an instrument to measure students' attitude toward convergence. To do so, we have defined five constructs (i.e. knowledge about convergence, personal relevance, social relevance, interest and self-efficacy) of 'attitude toward convergence' based on literature review, developed items, and collected data from 233 11th grade science track students. The validity of these items have been evaluated by Messick's framework (1995) (i.e. content, substantive, structural aspects of validity), experts' review, Rasch analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis using structural equation modeling. Our results have confirmed the five constructs and 23 selected items have met the benchmark of item validity. Moreover, the theoretical model illustrating that the high level of attitude toward convergence increases the level of science motivation has also been supported by the data. The items developed in this study will be used to measure students' attitude toward convergence and to estimate the effect of learning program for convergence science.

A Study on the Influence of Self-congruity between Brand Personality and Self-Image on Attitude toward Brand (브랜드 개성과 자아가 브랜드 태도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study are as follows. First, we try to find out if self-congruity between brand personality and self-image overall has significant influence on the attitude toward brand. Second, we figured out whether functional, experiential, and symbolic values have influence on the attitude toward brand. Third, we figured out if self-congruity between brand personality and self-image has significant influence on a functional, experiential, and symbolic values. Main results are as follows. Consumers tend to prefer certain brand of casual wears in accordance with their cognized brand-personality and self-image. Functional values of Bean-Pole, Hazzys, and Tommy's except Polo have positive influence on attitude toward brand. Experiential and symbolic values of all the four brands have positive influence on attitude toward brand. However, the influences of self-congruity between brand personality and self-image on individual brand varied.

Convergent Influence of Self-esteem and Empathy Ability on Attitude toward Mental Illness of Nursing College Students in a City (일개 도시 간호대학생의 자아존중감, 공감능력이 정신질환에 대한 태도에 미치는 융복합적 영향)

  • This study was examined the influence of self-esteem and empathy ability on attitude toward mental illness of nursing college students. The subjects were 256 nursing students who recruited from one college. Data collected from August 29 to September 9, 2019. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 25.0 program. The major findings were as follow; 1) There were significant differences in attitude toward mental illness according to grade, satisfaction for major and mental health volunteer experiences. 2) The attitude toward mental illness was positively correlated with self-esteem, cognitive empathy ability and emotional empathy ability. 3) Factors significantly influencing attitude toward mental illness were grade and cognitive empathy ability and these factors accounted for 23% of attitude toward mental illness. Through this study, cognitive empathy ability was confirmed as a factor affecting the attitude toward mental illness of nursing college students.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of mental clinical practice on attitude toward the mental illness, social distance, psychiatry nurses' image in nursing students. After experiencing mental health clinical practices, social distance(t=-4,29, p<.001), psychiatry nurses' image.(t=-5.89, p<.001) are increased, but their attitude toward the mental illness (t=-1.02, p=.305) is not changed. Significant positive correlation were found between social distance and attitude toward the mental illness(r=.316, p<.001), psychiatry nurses' image(r=.378, p<.001). Based on the outcome of this study, implications for developing further psychiatry nursing teaching curriculum and psychiatry clinical practice program of nursing students.

  • This research looks at the innovative product characteristics, environmental properties, and personal attitudes as antecedents of consumer's perceived usefulness and easiness of product usage. And the attitudes toward digital convergence products and its acceptability as consequences. The results indicate that relative advantage, expectation for better product, the social influence, mass communications, and attitudes toward the new technology, significantly influence the perceived usefulness. The current research revealed that perceived usefulness is more influential over perceived easiness on the formation of positive attitude toward the product. The users of digital convergence products put more weight on the availability of the product functions rather than easiness of use.

Convergent relationship between spiritual well-being, spiritual nursing competence, and attitude toward death of nursing students (간호대학생의 영적안녕감, 영적간호역량, 죽음에 대한 태도와의 융합적 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the degree of spiritual well-being, spiritual nursing competency, and attitude toward death of nursing students at Christian universities and to find out the relevance and influence between variables. The subjects of the study were conveniently sampled 185 nursing college students located in C City, and data analysis was conducted using the SPSS 22.0 program to conduct t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's Correction Coefficient. As a result, religious well-being was significantly higher in students with very satisfied major satisfaction, and spiritual nursing competence was higher in girls with high grades, and students with high major satisfaction. Attitudes toward death were high in male students, showing significant results, and spiritual well-being showed a significant positive correlation between spiritual nursing competence and attitude toward death. Therefore, an institutional approach is needed to strengthen spiritual well-being and develop a curriculum so that it can help provide spiritual health to nursing subjects.

The Effect of Expected Perspective on the Role of Genre and Attitude toward Utilizing Genre in Broadcast Ad on the Liking of Broadcast Ad Genre (방송광고에서 장르의 역할에 대한 기대관점과 활용에 대한 태도가 방송광고 장르에 대한 호감도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of expected perspective on the role of genre and attitude toward utilizing genre in broadcast ad on the liking of broadcast ad genre as appeal types of creativity. The results show that there is a significant correlation between macro-environmental expected perspective(MEEP) on the role of genre and a negative attitude toward utilizing genre in broadcast ad. A significant correlation between micro-practical expected perspective(MPEP) and a positive attitude was also found. Consumers with an integrated-situational expected perspective(ISEP) show a more significant relationship with the dual attitude. Consumes with a MPEP have a stronger liking on comparative ad and sex appeal ad, and consumers with an ISEP show a median liking. Consumers with positive attitude have a stronger liking on comparative ad and sex appeal ad, and consumers with a dual attitude show a median liking that is between the positive attitude-based consumers' and negative attitude-based consumers'.

The Investigation of Influencing Factors to Attitude toward Doping in Korean Athletic Players (육상선수의 도핑태도에 관한 영향요인 탐색)

  • This study aimed to investigate the factors that influence the attitude toward doping and to provide useful information for developing a doping prevention program suitable for Korean athletic players. One hundred and seventy-two players who enrolled in Korea Association of Athletics Federations were participated in this study and they filled in the questionnaire about demographic factors, information on doping, perfectionism, and perceived motivational climate. Collected data were analyzed by using stepwise multiple linear regression for exploring the main factor that affect the attitude toward doping depending on field and track events. All adult players have more permissive attitude toward doping than adolescents. In track event, while players who are sensitive to coach's criticism have more permissive attitude toward doping, players who focused on personal standards have more repressive attitude toward it. These results would be useful to develop anti-doping strategy for Korean field and track players.
