  • The Citarum River Basin is the biggest river basin in West Java Province, Indonesia and it plays strategic roles in providing water for irrigation, domestic and industrial uses, and power generation, besides controlling the flood during rainy season. Flowing through seven major cities makes the river flow and water demand are vulnerable to land use change around the river. The present water resources management has involved the regulator, operator, and users in deciding an appropriate water management plan for the entire basin. The plan includes an operation plan for three reservoirs, construction or maintenance of the river channel, and water allocation for all users along the river. Following this plan, a smaller operation group will execute and evaluates the plan based on the actual flow condition. Recently, a deforestation, environment degradation, river sedimentation, a rapid growth of population and industry, also public health become new issues that should be considered in water basin planning. Facing these arising issues, a new development program named ICWRMIP was established to advance the existing management system. This program includes actions to strengthen institutional collaboration, do the restoration and conservation of the river environment, improve water quality and public health, also advance the water allocation system. At present, the water allocation plan is created annually based on a forecasted flow data and water usage prediction report. Sometimes this method causes a difficulty for the operator when the actual flow condition is not the same as the prediction. Improving existing system, a lot of water allocation studies, including a development of the database and water allocation simulation model have been placed to help stakeholders decide the suitable planning schemes. In the future, this study also tries to contribute in advancing water allocation planning by creating an optimization model which ease stakeholders discover a suitable water allocation plan for individual users.

  • Rapid development in the upper reaches of the Mekong River, in the form of construction of large hydropower dams and reservoirs, large irrigation schemes, and rapid urban development, is putting water resources under stress. Many scientific reports have pointed out that cascade dams along the Mekong River lead to serious problems: not only hydrologically but also a decline of agricultural productivity due to a decrease of sediment supply in the Mekong Delta and a change of fish amount due to drastic change of the water environment. Cambodia and Vietnam, located in the lowest Mekong basin, are gravely affected by radical changes of hydrologic regime due to Mekong River developments. In particular, the Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia is very sensitive to the flood cycle and flow variation of the Mekong River as well as inflow water quality from the Mekong River. More than 50% of Cambodian GDP depends on the primary industries such as agriculture, fishing, and forestry, and the Tonle Sap Lake plays an important role to support the national economy in Cambodia. In addition, Cambodian people usually take nourishment from the fish of Tonle Sap Lake. This research aims to assess the impacts of the Mekong river flow alternation on the hydrologic regime of the Mekong River - Tonle Sap Lake. We carried out rainfall-runoff-inundation simulation using CAESER-LISFLOOD for integrated water resource management in the Tonle Sap Basin and then analyze flood inundation variation of the Tonle Sap Lake due to the scenarios. Furthermore, the simulated inundation maps were compared to MODIS satellite images for model verification and hydrologic prediction.

  • An objective expert discrimination scheme is needed for finding researchers who have insight and knowledge about a particular field of research. There are two types of expert discrimination schemes such as a citation graph based method and a formula based method. In this paper, we propose an efficient expert discrimination scheme considering various characteristics that have not been considered in the existing formula based methods. In order to discriminate the expertise of researchers, we present six expertise indices such as quality, productivity, contributiveness, recentness, accuracy, and durability. We also consider the number of social citations to apply the characteristics of academic search sites. Finally, we conduct various experiments to prove the validity and feasibility of the proposed scheme.

  • Since Korea has excellent port infrastructure and competitive petrochemical complexes, there is plenty of potential for creating an oil hub in Northeast Asia. In particular, Ship-to-Ship (STS), which creates high added values, contributes greatly to the national economy. In this study, the liquid cargo volumes of chemical industrial products, refined petroleum products, and crude oil were analyzed at the national and regional (Busan, Ulsan, and Yeosu/Gwangyang) levels. Additionally, a Granger causality analysis was performed between imports, exports, and transshipments, in pairs. ADF, PP, and KPSS were analyzed for the unit root test. In addition, the VAR model and expanded VAR model suggested by Toda and Yamamoto were used for further analyses. Findings revealed a difference in Granger causality depending on the region or cargo type. These findings suggest that policies and incentive schemes for ports need to be differentiated according to the region and cargo types. In addition, the different patterns in the relationship between transshipments and import-export petrochemical cargoes should be considered.

  • Mooncakes are an important traditional food for the Mid-Autumn festival in many Asian countries, especially China. With the development of Chinese design, people pay more attention to the packaging design of mooncakes. Therefore, starting from the packaging design of mooncakes, this paper aims to study and analyze the preference of Chinese consumers for the packaging design of mooncakes and propose directional Suggestions for the packaging design of mooncakes. According to the market report of CNPP, the ten most popular mooncake brands in China are taken as the object, and four elements of packaging design, including brand, color, shape and material, are derived through preliminary research, and a questionnaire survey on the preferences of Chinese consumers is conducted. It is hoped that this paper can become the basic material for moon cake packaging design to improve consumers' preference, which will be helpful for specific packaging design schemes in the future.

  • With more emphasis on emotional communication with users in product design field, designers' clear and prompt grasp of user's emotion has become the core activity in product design research. To increase the flexibility applying emotion measurement in the process of product design, this study has used Facial Action Coding System (FACS) of behavioral emotion measurement method in product design evaluation. To select specimens, it has flexibly used the emotional product Image Map. Then this study has selected six product irritants inducing positive, negative and neutral emotions, and conducted FACS experiment with ordinary product users of 20 generations as the experimental subject, and analyzed users' emotional state in response to the irritants through their facial expressions. It also analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of FACS in the process of product design, such as "recording users' unconscious facial expressions" and puts forward some applicable schemes, such as "choosing a product stimulus with high user response". It is expected that this paper can be helpful to the flexibility of FACS as a method to predict user's emotion in advance at the trial stage of product design before launching them to the market.

  • RFID yoking proof proves that a pair of tags is scanned at the same time. Since the tags scanned simultaneously by a single reader are adjacent to each other, the yoking proof is used in applications that need to check the physical proximity of tagged objects. Most of the yoking proof schemes require pre-knowledge on adjacent tags. If an error occurs in the process of collecting information about adjacent tags, all subsequent proofs will fail verification. However, there is no research that suggests specific methods for obtaining information about adjacent tags. In this study, I propose a tag proximity information acquisition scheme for a yoking proof. The proposed method consists of two steps: scanning area determination and scanning area verification. In the first step, the size and position of the area to scan tags is determined in consideration of position and transmission range of the tags. In the next step, whether tag scanning is performed within the scanning area or not is verified through reference tags of the fixed position. In analysis, I show that the determined scanning area assures acquisition of adjacent tag information and the scanning area verification detects deformation and deviation of the scanning area.

  • The RFID group proof is an extension of the yoking proof proving that multiple tags are scanned by a reader simultaneously. Existing group proof schemes provide only delayed tag loss detection which detects loss of tag response in a verification phase. However, delayed tag loss detection is not suitable for real-time applications where tag loss must be detected immediately. In this study, I propose a tag response loss detection scheme which detects loss of tag response in the proof generation process quickly. In the proposed scheme, the tag responds with the sequence number assigned to the tag group, and the reader detects the loss of the tag response through the sequence number. Through an experiment for indistinguishability, I show that the sequence number is secure against an analyzing message attack to distinguish between specific tags and tag groups. In terms of efficiency, the proposed scheme requires fewer transmissions and database operations than existing techniques to determine which tags response is lost.

  • On the Social Internet of Things (SIoT), social activities occur through which the vehicle generates a variety of data, shares them with other vehicles, and sends and receives feedbacks. In order to share reliable information between vehicles, it is important to determine the reliability of a vehicle. In this paper, we propose a vehicle trust evaluation scheme to share reliable information among vehicles. The proposed scheme calculates vehicle trust by considering user reputation and network trust based on inter-vehicle social behaviors. The vehicle may choose to scoring, ignoring, redistributing, etc. in the social activities inter vehicles. Thereby, calculating the user's reputation. To calculate network trust, distance from other vehicles and packet transmission rate are used. Using user reputation and network trust, local trust is calculated. It also prevents redundant distribution of data delivered during social activities. Data from the Road Side Unit (RSU) can be used to overcome local data limitations and global data can be used to calculate a vehicle trust more accurately. It is shown through various performance evaluations that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes.
