폐식용유를 이용한 아스팔트 실란트 (Asphalt Sealant Containing the Waste Edible Oil)

  • 본 연구는 폐식용유를 이용하여 아스팔트계 봉함재(sealant)를 제조하는 것이다. 아스팔트계 봉함재는 포장도로의 균열 봉함재 및 교량 조인트용 봉함재로 사용되는 재료이다. 아스팔트(AP-5), 열가소성 고무(SBS triblock copolymer), 점착제(tackifier) 및 안정제를 기본 성분으로 하여 연화제로 방향족계 또는 파라핀계 공정유, DOP(dioctyl phthalate), 벙커 C유 또는 폐식용유와 혼합하여 침입도, 연화점, 신도 및 인장 접착 신율(상온 및 저온)을 측정하였다. 연화제의 종류 및 함량에 따라 봉함재의 물성이 크게 변화하였다. 폐식용유 또는 DOP를 사용한 경우가 저온 인장 접착 특성이 가장 우수하였다. 폐식용유 함량이 증가함에 따라 아스팔트 봉함재의 침입도는 및 인장 접착 신율은 증가하였고 증량제로 탈크를 첨가할 경우 함량에 비례하여 침입도 및 저온 인장 신율은 감소하였다. 배합비를 최적화하여 침입도가 낮으면서도 저온 인장 접착성이 우수한 아스팔트 봉함재를 제조할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 폐윤활유를 이용하여 아스팔트 포장도로의 균열 보수에 주로 사용하는 아스팔트 실란트를 제조하였다. 아스팔트(AP-5), SBS 삼블록 공중합체(triblock copolymer), 점착제(석유수지) 및 산화방지제를 폐윤활유와 혼합하여 콘 침입도, 연화점, 신도, 흐름성, 인장 접착 신율 및 원상회복률을 측정하였다. 폐윤활유 함량이 증가함에 따라 아스팔트 실란트의 콘 침입도는 증가하였고 연화점, 신도 및 원상회복률은 감소하였다. 증량제로 탈크를 첨가할 경우 함량에 비례하여 연화점 및 원상회복률은 증가하였으나 콘 침입도, 신도 및 인장 접착 신율은 감소하였다. 석유수지 함량을 크게 줄여 ASTM 규격에 적합하면서도 가장 경제적인 균열 보수용 아스팔트 실란트를 제조할 수 있었다.

단열재의 실링재로 사용되는 비닐에스테르 수지 혼합물의 제조 및 물성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Properties and Manufacture of Vinylester Resin Mixtures Used as Sealant of Insulator)

  • Main components of manufactured sealant were vinylester resin, polybutadiene rubber, asphalt and inorganic filler. For manufactured sealant, liquid and cure properties were tested experimantally. It showed better mechanical properties at rubber content $5{\sim}15phr$. Blown asphalt represented better properties than streight asphalt, showed the highest cohesive strength at asphalt content $6{\sim}8phr$. Appropriate usage of filler was $60{\pm}2%$ of total components, and $Al(OH)_3$ showed better flame-retardancy than $CaCO_3$.

  • Installation and usage methods are currently different between China and Korea for the same rubber asphalt waterproofing sealant. Quality verification is not properly carried out in this situation, so it is necessary to secure reliability in order to export domestic materials to China. In this study, rubber asphalt waterproofing sealant used as injection-type leakage repair material was tested in accordance to adhesion strength quality test method outlined in the JC/T2428 Chinese Industrial Standard to confirm the basic performance is compliant or not.

덧씌우기 아스팔트 포장체의 전단반사균옅 모사시험을 이용한 줄눈 실링재의 반사균열 지연효과 비교분석 (Evaluation of Sealing Effect on Performance of Overlaid Asphalt Pavement using Accelerated Reflection Cracking Test in Shear Mode)

  • 본 논문은 시멘트 콘크리트 포장 위에 덧씌우기한 아스팔트 콘크리트 포장에서 발생하는 반사균열 제어를 위해 줄눈 실링재를 사용한 포장에서의 반사균열을 평가하기 위하여 수행되었다. 사용된 시험방법은 전단반사균열 모사실험 방법으로 실내에서 덧씌우기 아스팔트의 반사균열 저항성 시험을 위해 개발된 시험기법이다. 실험을 통하여 줄눈 실링재는 반사균열 제어에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 실링재 E를 사용하였을 때 피로수명은 가장 크게 나타났으나 수평변형은 상대적으로 크게 나타났고, B의 경우 수평변형은 가장 적게 나타났고 동적 안정도도 가장 크게 나타났다. 일반적으로 실링재의 인장강도가 높은 것일수록 혼합물의 반사균열저항성이 더 좋았다.

반사균열 저감을 위한 Saw and Seal 공법의 줄눈재 평가 및 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on Sealant Evaluation and Effectiveness of Saw and Seal Method for Reducing Reflection Cracking)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to select the proper sealing method and to see the performance of the saw and seal method for concrete rehabilitation based on accelerated pavement testings and lab tests. METHODS : Two accelerated pavement testings were conducted. One is to select proper sealing method of the asphalt joints and the other is to see the performance of the saw and seal method. Lab tests were conducted to select proper sealing method and a test section was constructed to see the field performance. RESULTS : The result of the first accelerated pavement testing indicated that the adhesive preformed sealants showed good performance when asphalt layer was rutted and in terms preventing from water infiltration. The second acceleration test indicated that the saw and seal method using the adhesive preformed sealant showed much better performance than the control. In the lab test bitumen, rubber and epoxy showed good performance as the adhesive. CONCLUSIONS : Saw and Seal method using the adhesive preformed sealant would markedly reduce the joint damage on the asphalt overlay.

WIM 센서 설치에 적합한 실런트 개발을 위한 기초적인 연구 (Fundamental Study on Development of Sealants used for WIM Sensor Installation)

  • PURPOSES : This study aims to develop a sealant for use in the installation of Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) sensor for asphalt concrete or cement concrete pavements. METHODS : In order to investigate the properties of various sealants that were mixed with latex and carbon fiber, various test methods were adopted, such as bituminous bond strength test, softening point test, and cone penetration test. To evaluate moisture susceptibility, the BBS test was conducted under moist condition. The bond strength ratio (BSR) was calculated based on tensile strength ratio method. RESULTS : The sealant's properties significantly varied according to the amount of latex or carbon fiber. The usage of latex marginally enhanced the cone penetration test result, notwithstanding reduced asphalt content. This implies that the sealant will be proper cold temperature reason. Moreover, the addition of latex and carbon fiber evidently increased the softening point. This indicates that the tendency of the material to flow at elevated temperatures is encountered during service. With the addition of latex and carbon fiber, the moisture susceptibility measured with BSR improved marginally, while the bond strength under dry condition decreased marginally. Sealant F displays the highest bond strength and BSR under limited test conditions. CONCLUSIONS : According to the proportion of latex and carbon fiber mixed, properties of sealant, such as softening point, cone penetration, and BSR varied marginally. This indicates that the sealant has to be applied considering the environmental condition, to improve service life.

아스팔트 콘크리트 포장용 균열실링재의 부착특성 평가 (Evaluation of Adhesion Characteristics of Crack Sealants Used in Asphalt Concrete Pavement)

  • Cracking is an inevitable fact of asphalt concrete pavements and plays a major role in pavement deterioration. Pavement cracking is one of the main factors determining the frequency and method of repair. Cracks can be treated with a number of preventative maintenance actions, including overlay surface treatments such as slurry sealing, crack sealing, or crack filling. Pavement cracks can show up as one or all of the following types: transverse, longitudinal, fatigue, block, reflective, edge, and slippage. Crack sealing is a frequently used pavement maintenance treatment because it significantly extends the pavement service life. However, crack sealant often fails prematurely due to a loss of adhesion. Because current test methods are mostly empirical and only provide a qualitative measure of the bond strength, they cannot accurately predict the adhesive failure of the sealant. This study introduces a laboratory test aimed at assessing the bonding of hot-poured crack sealant to the walls of pavement cracks. A pneumatic adhesion tensile testing instrument (PATTI) was adopted to measure the bonding strength of the hot-poured crack sealant as a function of the curing time and temperature. Based on a limited number of test results, the hot-poured crack sealants have very different bonding performances. Therefore, this test method can be proposed as part of a newly developed performance-based standard specification for hot-poured crack sealants for use in the future. PURPOSES : The purpose of this study was to evaluate both the adhesion and failure performance of a crack sealant as a function of its curing time and curing temperature. METHODS: A pneumatic adhesion tensile testing instrument (PATTI) was adopted to measure the adhesion performance of a crack sealant as a function of the curing time and curing temperature. RESULTS: With changes in the curing time, curing temperature, and sealant type, the bond strengths were found to be significantly different. Also, higher bond strengths were measured at lower temperatures. Different sealant types produced completely different bond strengths and failure behaviors. CONCLUSIONS: The bonding strength of an evaluated crack sealant was shown to differ depending on various factors. Two sealant types, which were composed of different raw materials, were shown to perform differently. The newly proposed test offers the possibility of evaluating and differentiating between different crack sealants. Based on alimited number of test results, this test method can be proposed as part of a newly developed performance-based standard specification for crack sealants or as part of a guideline for the selection of hot-poured crack sealant in the future.

아스팔트 2액형 점착재의 누수보수 평가에 관한 연구 (Ashpalt 2 Component Adhesive Leakage Repair Sealant Evaluation)

  • This study is based on the evaluation of a single component injection type adhesive repair material and a new 2 component type used in leakage of underground concrete structures. The studies showed that based on different mix ratio of the 2 component type adhesive sealant comprised of an asphalt main and latex mixture agent the viscosity of the material compound differed significantly. Based on a permeability testing, injection and economic efficiency, and performance, the appropriate ratio was determined to be 6:1 and was proceeded to the KS F 4935 evaluation method. The 2 component type adhesive sealant uses a static mixer and a cartridge type container for the injection procedure and was able to satisfy the evaluation criteria outlined in the KS F 4935 standard.

폐타이어 고무분말 개질 아스팔트 실란트의 물리적 특성에서 유연제의 영향 (Influence of a Flexibilizer on Physical Properties of Crumb Rubber Modified Asphalt Sealants)

  • 폐타이어 고무분말은 도로 유지 및 보수제로 아스팔트 바인더의 개질제로 사용되고 있다. 도로보수제인 폐타이어 고무분말 개질 아스팔트 (crumb rubber modified asphalt, CRMA) 실란트에 필요한 접착특성은 저온에서 아스팔트 바인더의 취성과 접착파괴특성 때문에 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 저온에서 CRMAs의 개질제로서 유연제의 영향을 조사하였다. 저온에서 CRMAs의 특성은 침입도, 연화점, 인장 및 인장접착시험을 통하여 측정하였다. 유연제를 도입한 CRMAs에서 CR과 아스팔트바인더의 연성변형이 증가함에 따라 인장접착강도와 변형률이 증가하였다. 저온영역에서 CRMAs의 인장특성과 접착특성은 유연제의 함량이 중요한 요소임을 발견하였다.
