  • Artificial Intelligence(AI) technology can be used in arts exhibitions ranging from planning exhibitions, filed progress, and evaluation. AI has been expanded its scope from planning exhibition and guidance services to tools for creating arts. This paper focuses on chatbots that utilize exhibition and AI technology convergence to provide information and services. To study more specifically, I developed a chatbot for exhibition services using the Naver Clova chatbot tool and information from the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art(MMCA), Korea. In this study, information was limited to viewing and exhibition rather than all information of the MMCA, and the chatbot was developed which provides a scenario type to get an answering user want to gain through a button and a text question and answer(Q&A) type to directly input a question. As a result of evaluating the chatbot with six items according to ELIZA's chatbot evaluation scale, a score of 4.2 out of 5 was derived by completing the development of a chatbot to be used to deliver viewing and exhibition information. The future research task is to create a perfect chatbot model that can be used in an actual arts exhibition space by connecting the developed chatbot with continuous scenario answers, resolving text Q&A-type answer failures and errors, and expanding additional services.

  • This study empirically analyzes the factors that affect the people's enjoyment of pure culture and arts, especially art exhibitions. We use 56,588 sample data from the "The Survey of Cultural Enjoyment" collected by the Ministry of Cultrure, Sports and Tourism over the last 10 years and perform multiple regression and Multi-Way ANOVA to analyze the effect of individual's cultural experience on art exhibit visits. The results of the analysis show that the experience of participating in culture and arts events, culture and arts education, and participation in culture and arts clubs have a positive effect on the art exhibition visits. We also identify the positive interaction effects between the three independent variables. In other words, it was found that the average number of visits to art exhibitions was higher for groups who had experience of participating in culture and arts events, culture and arts education, and culture and arts clubs. This study provides a first empirical analysis on personal factors influencing art exhibition visits in Korea and lays the groundwork for future studies in developing a comprehensive predictive model for cultural art visits. In addition, we give policy implications and suggestions specifically, mid-term policies related to promoting art exhibition visits as an extension of individual's engagement with pure culture and arts through big data analysis.

  • This article analyzes the exhibition of the experience for the children using the performance of the at the National Theater Performing Arts Museum. The important part of an exhibition or educational program for children should be a program that can be communicated so that the child can develop the strength to think for himself / herself as a 'subject' rather than a 'target' of the program. The purpose of this article is to analyze the case of exhibitions that solved the 'make-up' part of the performance stage by linking the performance of the concert with the experience in mind. In addition, I would like to take an opportunity to look at the case of how the performance of , which was the theme of this exhibition, was utilized as an exhibition and what kind of experiences it was composed of, and to think about the better direction of children's experience exhibition in connection with the performance.

  • Since the evaluation of its intellectual activities and abilities is done by curator's capabilities, planning exhibition is very important as the final result achieved by their own knowledge, information, and research. ARPA(Advanced Research Project on Arts) is suggested as the system which enables curators responding simultaneously to the society in the times, based on its special characteristics. If this system settles well, which means that the curators at NMCA(National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea) play their roles as the professionals in each of their fields, the goal of consolidating the status of museum as the representative national museum, and building up competent department of curators, will be achieved at the same time. To clarify above, the curators set up the various assignments of research about the types of arts such as painting, Korean painting, sculpture, installation, new-media, design, craft, photogarphy, architecture, etc. And they establish the art objects classified by the regions, such as the Northern American, Southern American, European, Asian, and other Third World countries. They elaborate art objects more on the history, the work, the artist, and the issue of contemporary art. Furthermore, when the curators devote deeper study to those research subjects, they can have the opportunities to design an exhibition upon the research. Today, the museum of art is 'The Place for Communication and Encounter', it is regarded important to share the aesthetical, creative values with current artists, and to understand mutually with the spectators. It is needed to improve the curator's work, in order to meet the demands of the times and even to advance. Because the form of 'exhibition' is the tool that reveals the identity NMCA aiming at, the motivation, the development, and the realization should be leaded by the curators, who are the mainstream of the museum. ARPA is a system for identifying the exhibition like mentioned above. The main purpose of this system is to produce synergy effect, having the researching, collecting work in liaison with planning exhibition. ARPA will be able to improve the quality of exhibition through the way of developing the exhibition, passing through the stable process in the long run. So far, I have referred to a new paradigm of the exhibition design at NMCA via ARPA. Yet, there still remain missions in reality, such as analyzing the previous exhibition and reshuffling personnel and system, which should be done. When these matters settled, these plans would be suggested practically. At this point, it is the most significant that NMCA is attempting to let others aware of the importance of exhibition planning based on research. when the ARPA and exhibition planning is conjoined together successfully, the competent exhibition will be achieved, which can offer a meaningful exhibition to the art world, strengthen infra structure thru exchanging with public museum in the region, and eventually, establish a network with museum in foreign countries.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically clarify the relationship between the aesthetic experience of visitors and the effect of online exhibitions at museums on the degree of viewing an offline exhibition. For this reason, the attributes of online exhibitions are composed of accessibility, interaction, informativeness, playfulness, etc., and the aesthetic experience is composed of four factors: emotional, communicative, cognitive, and perceptual areas. A survey was conducted to analyze the effect on viewing intention. The results of multiple regression analysis of the questionnaire results revealed that first, the online exhibition service had a partially significant positive(+) effect on the aesthetic experience. It was analyzed that informativity had the greatest effect on the emotional domain of aesthetic experience, playfulness had the greatest impact on the communication and perceptual domains, and access had the greatest impact on the cognitive domain. Second, it was found that online exhibitions had a partially significant positive (+) effect on offline exhibition viewing intention in the order of playfulness, interactivity, and informativity. Third, it was found that aesthetic experiences had a significant positive (+) effect on offline exhibition viewing intention in the order of cognitive, emotional, communication, and perception. In addition, it was confirmed that the aesthetic experience partially mediated the intention to view online and offline exhibitions. We hope that this study will serve as an opportunity to spark academic discussion along with practical implications for inducing online exhibition users to offline exhibitions.

  • In this paper, the news coverage of Chosun Art Exhibition(鮮展) in the Japanese occupational era were analyzed by the discourse analysis technique. Japan was advocated the slogan of 'escape from the asia go to the west' and calls itself as western civilized nations during Japanese occupational era. Japan's colonial rule in Asia has created a Japanese orientalism that Japan is considered as developed, and the other Asian countries are considered underdeveloped countries. The media discourse of Chosun Art Exhibition make to believe that the 'backwardness' of Korean local color arts, unlike the 'colonial superiority' of Japanese arts. In the analysis of the newspapers, Maeil Shinbo and Donga Ilbo, Japan recognize Korean arts as the 'assimilation' of Japanese arts, but with the other hand recognize the 'exclusion' of Japanese arts had a dual-in. Especially, Donga Ilbo has a vision of orientalism on the one hand and has a nationalistic perspective on the other hand.

  • We aimsto examine the determinants of visitors' positive word-of-mouth (WOM) in a web-based virtual reality contemporary art exhibition. We also examines the effects of 3 realms of experience (entertainment, esthetic, escapist) on emotional arousal, how this emotional arousal affects memory and positive word-of-mouth, how memory affects positive word-of-mouth and how age moderate all of the paths. We examined a total of 297 visitors and was conducted through an online survey focusing on Chinese users of ages 20-49. The analysis results showed that entertainment and esthetic have an effect on emotional arousal, but escapist did not. The results also showed emotional arousal has an effect on memory and positive WOM. Memory did not affect positive word-of-mouth. Finally, age has a moderate effect on all the paths, except for the path form escape towards emotional arousal and memory to positive word-of-mouth. The theoretical implications of this study are meaningful exhibition research. While, it also will be helpful to segment the web-based virtual reality art exhibition visitors by dividing into 3 groups (20s, 30s, 40s) and to provide marketing and operation strategies.
