국내산 인공경량골재를 이용한 콘크리트의 기초 특성 연구 (The Study on the Basic Properties of Concrete Containing the Domestic Artificial Lightweight Aggregate)

  • This study was a result of laboratory test to confirm the porperties of concrete containing the domestic artificial lightweight aggregate. The domestic artificial lightweight aggregate is made with bottom ash which waste material in the thermal power plant. In the experimental result air contents of fresh concrete was measured lower than other artificial lightweight aggregate. This air contents is important for retaining the resistance of freezing and thawing. Therefore air contents of concrete will be considered for retaining the resistance of freezing and thawing when manufacture the concrete containing the domestic artificial aggregate.

인공경량골재 혼합비율에 따른 경량 콘크리트의 물성 및 강도특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Physical and Strength Properties of Lightweight Concrete by Replacement Ratio of Artificial Lightweight Aggregate)

  • 본 연구는 최근 사용량이 증대하고 있는 저시멘트 배합을 대상으로 국내생산 인공경량 잔 굵은골재의 혼합비율에 따른 경량콘크리트의 물성 및 강도특성을 비교 검토한 것으로서 실험결과, 프리웨팅 시간이 24시간 증가할 경우 모르타르 플로우값이 약 3~5% 감소하는 것으로 나타났으며 경량잔골재 사용에 의해 모르타르 배합에서 약 10.4%의 기건단위질량 감소효과를 얻을 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 경량굵은골재의 혼합비율에 따른 경량콘크리트의 기건단위질량은 5~10mm 크기인 LWG10 경량굵은골재의 혼합비율이 높아질수록 선형적으로 기건단위질량이 증가하였으며 LWG10 경량굵은골재를 혼합할 경우 LWG10 혼합비율에 관계없이 재령 7일에 약 30~31MPa 수준의 유사한 압축강도를 발현하였다.

  • 본 연구는 최근 제주도 지역내 현무암 가공과정에서 발생되는 폐기물인 석분슬러지를 재활용하기 위한 방안으로서, 인공경량골재의 제조가능성에 대해 실험하였다. 또한, 현무암 석분 슬러지로 제조된 인공경량골재의 물성을 개선하기 위해 폐유리분말과 탄산칼슘이 사용되었다. 현무암 석분 슬러지와 폐유리분말 그리고 소성방법의 복합적인 요인을 고려할 때 경량골재 내부의 발포성 향상을 위해서 탄산칼슘의 양은 9 wt.%가 적당하였다. 또한, 제조된 인공경량골재의 흡수율을 저하시키기 위해서는 폐유리 분말은 50 wt.%이내로 사용함과 동시에 직화소성의 방법을 적용하는 것이 더 효과적이다. 좀 더 낮은 비중과 흡수율을 가진 고품질의 인공경량골재를 성형하기 위해서는 성형된 경량골재의 표면에 폐유리분말을 도포한 후 그 시료를 직화소성법으로 소성하는 것이 더 효과적일 것으로 판단된다.

  • This study investigated the properties of lightweight foamed concrete by using synthetic foaming agent and artificial lightweight aggregate. The effects of artificial lightweight sizes on the compressive strength, density and pore structure of the concrete were investigated. The samples were assessed by MIP analysis and simultaneous SEM was used to study their pore distribution. This study showed the improvement of important properties of lightweight foamed concrete. Lower pore distribution and correspondingly higher compressive strength values were reached. This is for the purpose of providing basic data for the use of lightweight foamed concrete through improvement on the problem such as unstability, falling in fluidity and the strength of existed foaming agent.

  • Concrete has excellent characteristics as building material and functions relatively well; but it has many problems concerning too heavy weight of the structures. Accordingly, it is the assignment for study in the part of building materials to lighten and high strengthen the weight of concrete structures in order to improve those weak Points; and it seems one of the representative solutions to develop the high strength lightweight aggregate concrete. Based on the experimental results presented, the following conclusions are drawn. The concrete with unit weight of 1.96~2.03t/$m^{2}$, compressive strength of 322~431kgf/$cm^{2}$ was gained. So, it appears that the lightweight aggregate concrete will be useful for low unit weight and high strength lightweight aggregate concrete. In the end, to manufacture artificial lightweight aggregate concrete for construction work is necessary to develope artificial aggregate which has improved performances physically.

  • 최근 구조물들이 대형화됨으로써 보통 콘크리트를 사용할 경우 강도 및 내구성에 비하여 중량이 크다는 결점으로 인해 콘크리트 구조물의 설계 및 시공의 안정에 제약을 주게 된다. 이러한 결점을 개선하기 위해서는 자중이 작고 강도가 큰 경량콘크리트가 요구되나, 국내에서는 실용화를 위한 연구가 아직 미비한 실정에 있다. 일반적으로 고온에서 소성시켜 제조된 인공골재는 골재가 팽창되어 내부에 무수한 기포를 가지게 된다. 따라서 골재의 크기에 따라 이들의 기포가 경량콘크리트 비중과 강도에 미치는 영향 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 국내에서 개발된 화력발전소 폐기물과 점토를 고온에서 소성, 팽창시켜 만든 인공경량골재의 입도별 배합설계를 실시하고 실험을 통하여 경량콘크리트의 비중 및 강도변화를 비교 고찰했다. 또한 경량콘크리트의 고강도 발현을 위한 인공경량골재의 최적 입도비를 제안하였다.

Experimental & computational study on fly ash and kaolin based synthetic lightweight aggregate

  • The objective of this study is to manufacture environmentally-friendly synthetic lightweight aggregates that may be used in the structural lightweight concrete production. The cold-bonding pelletization process has been used in the agglomeration of the pozzolanic materials to achieve these synthetic lightweight aggregates. In this context, it was aimed to recycle the waste fly ash by employing it in the manufacturing process as the major cementitious component. According to the well-known facts reported in the literature, it is stated that the main disadvantage of the synthetic lightweight aggregate produced by applying the cold-bonding pelletization technique to the pozzolanic materials is that it has a lower strength in comparison with the natural aggregate. Therefore, in this study, the metakaolin made of high purity kaolin and calcined kaolin obtained from impure kaolin have been employed at particular contents in the synthetic lightweight aggregate manufacturing as a cementitious material to enhance the particle crushing strength. Additionally, to propose a curing condition for practical attempts, different curing conditions were designated and their influences on the characteristics of the synthetic lightweight aggregates were investigated. Three substantial features of the aggregates, specific gravity, water absorption capacity, and particle crushing strength, were measured at the end of 28-day adopted curing conditions. Observed that the incorporation of thermally treated kaolin significantly influenced the crushing strength and water absorption of the aggregates. The statistical evaluation indicated that the investigated properties of the synthetic lightweight aggregate were affected by the thermally treated kaolin content more than the kaoline type and curing regime. Utilizing the thermally treated kaolin in the synthetic aggregate manufacturing lead to a more than 40% increase in the crushing strength of the pellets in all curing regimes. Moreover, two numerical formulations having high estimation capacity have been developed to predict the crushing strength of such types of aggregates by using soft-computing techniques: gene expression programming and artificial neural networks. The R-squared values, indicating the estimation performance of the models, of approximately 0.97 and 0.98 were achieved for the numerical formulations generated by using gene expression programming and artificial neural networks techniques, respectively.

Properties of artificial lightweight aggregates made from waste sludge

  • In this investigation, reservoir sediment and municipal sewage sludge were sintered to form the artificial lightweight aggregates. The sintered aggregates were compared with the commercialized lightweight aggregates to in terms of potential alkali-silica reactivity and chemical stability based on analyses of their physical and chemical properties, leaching of heavy metal, alkali-silica reactivity, crystal phase species and microstructure. Experimental results demonstrated that the degree of sintering of an aggregate affected the chemical resistance more strongly than did its chemical composition. According to ASTM C289-94, all potential alkali-silica reactivity of artificial lightweight aggregates were in the harmless zone, while the potential reactivity of artificial lightweight aggregates made from reservoir sediment and municipal sewage sludge were much lower than those of traditional lightweight aggregates.

  • In this study, the fluidity and compressive strength of lightweight mortar using recycling water for pre-wetting of artificial lightweight aggregate were compared and analyzed to maximize the utilization of the recycling water, which is a by-product of the Ready-Mixed Concrete industry. For this purpose, the pre-wetting water was replaced with recycling water at the ratio of 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10%.
