Intelligent Switching Control of the Pneumatic Artificial Muscle Manipulators

  • Problems with the control, oscillatory motion and compliance of pneumatic systems have prevented their widespread use in advanced robotics. However, their compactness, power/weight ratio, ease of maintenance and inherent safety are factors that could be potentially exploited in sophisticated dexterous manipulator designs. These advantages have led to the development of novel actuators such as the McKibben Muscle, Rubber Actuator and Pneumatic Artificial Muscle Manipulators. However, some limitations still exist, such as a deterioration of the performance of transient response due to the changes in the external inertia load in the pneumatic artificial muscle manipulator. To overcome this problem, a switching algorithm of the control parameter using a learning vector quantization neural network (LVQNN) is newly proposed. This estimates the external inertia load of the pneumatic artificial muscle manipulator. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm is demonstrated through experiments with different external inertia loads.

Parameter Selecting in Artificial Potential Functions for Local Path Planning

  • Artificial potential field (APF) is a widely used method for local path planning of autonomous mobile robot. So far, many different types of APF have been implemented. Once the artificial potential functions are selected, how to choose appropriate parameters of the functions is also an important work. In this paper, a detailed analysis is given on how to choose proper parameters of artificial functions to eliminate free path local minima and avoid collision between robots and obstacles. Two kinds of potential functions: Gaussian type and Quadratic type of potential functions are used to solve the above local minima problem respectively. To avoid local minima occurred in realistic situations such as 1) a case that the potential of the goal is affected excessively by potential of the obstacle, 2) a case that the potential of the obstacle is affected excessively by potential of the goal, the design guidelines for selecting appropriate parameters of potential functions are proposed.

  • In recent years, various digital characters, which are automatic and intelligent, are attempted with the introduction of artificial intelligence or artificial life. Since the style of a character's behavior is usually designed by a developer, the style is very static and simple. So such a simple pattern of the character cannot satisfy various users and easily makes them feel tedious. A game should maintain various and complex styles of a character's behavior, but it is very difficult for a developer to design various and complex behaviors of it. In this paper, we adopt the genetic algorithm to produce various and excellent behavior-styles of a character especially focusing on Robocode which is one of promising simulators for artificial intelligence.

  • This paper is proposed a high performance speed control of the synchronous reluctance motor through the artificial intelligent SV-PWM. SV-PWM is controlled using fuzzy control that is artificial intelligent control. SV-PWM can be maximum used maximum dc link voltage and is excellent control method due to characteristic to reducing harmonic more than others. Fuzzy control has a advantage which can be robustly controlled. Simulation results are presented to show the validity of the proposed algorithm

  • In order to implement Artificial Intelligence, various technologies have been widely used. Artificial Intelligence is applied for many industrial product and machine tools are the center of manufacturing devices in intelligent manufacturing system. The purpose of this paper is to present the construction of Rule Base for knowledge structure that is applicable to machine tools. This system is that decision whether to act in accordance with machine status is support system. It constructs Rule Base of knowledge used of machine toots. The constructed Rule Base facilitates the effective operation and control of machine tools and will provide a systematic way to integrate the expert's knowledge that will apply Intelligent Machine Tools.

The Approaches of Positive Experience Design on IoT Intelligent Products

  • This paper proposes a positive experience design approach for Internet of Things (IoT) intelligent products to improve users' subjective well-being in the fields of artificial intelligence and big data. First, the authors selected six target users and taking the Xiaomi IoT intelligent products for the research objects and conducted a thorough observation on how the target users used IoT intelligent products in their own homes over two weeks via a home-visiting interview, group diary, and focus group. Second, they constructed an individual activities table for the participants' IoT intelligent product experience using a hierarchical task analysis (HTA). Third, two researchers sorted out the sub-tasks of happiness in the HTA table. Finally, the authors found the positive experience design approach of IoT intelligent products. The positive experience design approach of IoT intelligent products is proposed from focusing on the personal pleasure experience to individual life meaningful design and group social relationship design, including individual pleasure experience, personal goal realization, group needs satisfaction and the harmony of group relations. The paper uses the two design examples of an interactive kettle and a harmonious chair to further discuss the feasibility of the design approach. In the era of big data, it is helpful for designers to use this design approach to improve the users' sense of sustainable pleasure, achievement perception of their future goal realization, and the well-being of the group's social relationships.

인공지능 기반 손 체스처 인식 정보를 활용한 지능형 인터페이스 (Intelligent interface using hand gestures recognition based on artificial intelligence)

  • 인공지능에 기반한 손 제스처 인식 정보를 활용한 지능형 인터페이스 알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 방법은 기능적으로 사용자 손 제스처의 추적 및 인식을 미디어파이프와 KNN, LSTM, CNN의 인공지능 기법을 사용해 다양한 동작을 빠르고 지능적으로 인식되는 인터페이스이다. 제안한 알고리즘 성능 평가를 위해 자체 제작한 2D 탑뷰 레이싱 게임과 로봇제어에 적용한다. 알고리즘 적용 결과 게임의 가상 객체의 다양한 움직임을 세밀하고 강건하게 제어할 수 있었으며, 실세계의 로봇 제어에 적용한 결과 이동과 정지, 좌회전, 우회전 등의 제어가 가능하였다. 또한 게임의 메인 캐릭터와 실세계 로봇을 동시에 제어하여 가상과 현실의 공존공간 상황 제어를 위한 지능형 인터페이스로 최적화된 동작도 구현하였다. 제안한 알고리즘은 신체를 활용한 자연스럽고 직관적 특성과 손가락의 미세한 움직임 인식에 따른 정교한 제어가 가능하며, 빠른 기간 내에 숙련되는 장점이 있어 지능형 사용자 인터페이스 개발을 위한 기본자료로 활용될 수 있다.

Improvement of Three Mixture Fragrance Recognition using Fuzzy Similarity based Self-Organized Network Inspired by Immune Algorithm

  • To improve the recognition accuracy of a developed artificial odor discrimination system for three mixture fragrance recognition, Fuzzy Similarity based Self-Organized Network inspired by Immune Algorithm (F-SONIA) is proposed. Minimum, average, and maximum values of fragrance data acquisitions are used to form triangular fuzzy numbers. Then the fuzzy similarity treasure is used to define the relationship between fragrance inputs and connection strengths of hidden units. The fuzzy similarity is defined as the maximum value of the intersection region between triangular fuzzy set of input vectors and the connection strengths of hidden units. In experiments, performances of the proposed method is compared with the conventional Self-Organized Network inspired by Immune Algorithm (SONIA), and the Fuzzy Learning Vector Quantization (FLVQ). Experiments show that F-SONIA improves recognition accuracy of SONIA by 3-9%. Comparing to the previously developed artificial odor discrimination system that used FLVQ as pattern classifier, the recognition accuracy is increased by 14-25%.

  • Artificial Intelligence has stimulated every aspect of today's life. Human thinking quality is trying to be involved through digital tools in all research areas of the modern era. The education industry is also leveraging artificial intelligence magical power. Uses of digital technologies in pedagogical paradigms are being observed from the last century. The widespread involvement of artificial intelligence starts reshaping the educational landscape. Adaptive learning is an emerging pedagogical technique that uses computer-based algorithms, tools, and technologies for the learning process. These intelligent practices help at each learning curve stage, from content development to student's exam evaluation. The quality of information technology students and professionals training has also improved drastically with the involvement of artificial intelligence systems. In this paper, we will investigate adopted digital methods in the education sector so far. We will focus on intelligent techniques adopted for information technology students and professionals. Our literature review works on our proposed framework that entails four categories. These categories are communication between teacher and student, improved content design for computing course, evaluation of student's performance and intelligent agent. Our research will present the role of artificial intelligence in reshaping the educational process.
