A computationally efficient implementation of the progressive edge-growth algorithm is presented. This implementation uses an array of red-black (RB) trees to manage the layered structure of check nodes and adopts a new strategy to expand the Tanner graph. The complexity analysis and the simulation results show that the proposed approach reduces the computational effort effectively. In constructing a low-density parity check code with a length of $10^4$, the RB-tree-array-based implementation takes no more 10% of the time required by the original method.

Processing parameters of filament winding were investigated by using design of experiment. To understand 4 main effects(fiber tension, impregnation pressure, processing rate, and temperature) and 3 interactions, $L_{27}(3^{13})$ orthogonal array table was adopted. The used materials were carbon fiber and epoxy resin. Split disk test and short-beam test, which are the general test methods for filament wound composite material, were selected as evaluation methods for a filament would part. The optimal processing parameters for the filament winding were easily found through the analysis of variance of the experimental results.

This paper presents a 16-channel transimpedance amplifier (TIA) array implemented in a standard $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology for the applications of panoramic scan LADAR (PSL) systems. Since this array is the front-end circuits of the PSL systems to recover three dimensional image for unmanned vehicles, low-noise and high-gain characteristics are necessary. Thus, we propose a voltage-mode inverter TIA (I-TIA) array in this paper, of which measured results demonstrate that each channel of the array achieves $82-dB{\Omega}$ transimpedance gain, 565-MHz bandwidth for 0.5-pF photodiode capacitance, 6.7-pA/sqrt(Hz) noise current spectral density, and 33.8-mW power dissipation from a single 1.8-V supply. The measured eye-diagrams of the array confirm wide and clear eye-openings up to 1.3-Gb/s operations. Also, the optical pulse measurements estimate that the proposed 16-channel TIA array chip can detect signals within 20 meters away from the laser source. The whole chip occupies the area of $5.0{\times}1.1mm^2$ including I/O pads. For comparison, a current-mode 16-channel TIA array is also realized in the same $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology, which exploits regulated-cascode (RGC) input configuration. Measurements reveal that the I-TIA array achieves superior performance in optical pulse measurements.
The antenna arrays are known to be effective for GPS anti-jamming and the performance can be improved further if a dual-polarized antenna array is used. However, when the Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) beamformer is used as a signal processing algorithm for the dual-polarized antenna array, the anti-jamming performance can degrade in the presence of errors in the steering vector that is a key factor of the MVDR beamformer. Therefore, in this paper, the effect of the steering vector error on the anti-jamming performance of the dual-polarized antenna array is analyzed by simulations and the result is compared to that of the single-polarized antenna array.
Isometric array grammar is one of the simplest model to generate picture languages, since both sides of its production rule have the same shape. In this paper, we have introduced isometric fuzzy regular array grammars to generate isometric fuzzy regular array languages and discussed its closure properties. Also, the relation between isometric fuzzy regular array grammar and boustrophedon fuzzy finite automata has been discussed. Moreover, we study the relation between two dimensional fuzzy regular grammars with returning fuzzy finite automata and boustrophedon fuzzy finite automata. Further, the hierarchy results of these three classes of languages have been discussed.

Parallel processing algorithms, coupled with advanced networking and distributed computing architectures, improve the overall computational performance, dependability, and versatility of a digital signal processing system In this paper, novel parallel algorithms are introduced and investigated for advanced sonar algorithm, conventional matched-field processing (CMFP). Based on a specific domain, each parallel algorithm decomposes the sequential workload in order to obtain scalable parallel speedup. Depending on the processing requirement of the algorithm, the computational performance of the parallel algorithm reveals different characteristics. The high-complexity algorithm, CMFP shows scalable parallel performance on the array of DSP processors. The impact on parallel performance due to workload balancing, communication scheme, algorithm complexity, processor speed, network performance, and testbed configuration is explored.
A time-reversal mirror (TRM) is useful in diverse areas, such as reverberation ing, target echo enhancement and underwater communication. In underwater communication, the bit error rate has been improved significantly due to the increased signal-to-noise ratio by spatio-temporal focusing. This paper deals with two issues. First, the optimal number of array elements for a given environment was investigated based on the exploitation of spatial diversity. Second, an algorithm was developed to determine the optimal location of the given number of array elements. The formulation is based on a genetic algorithm maximizing the contrast between the foci and area of interest as an objective function. In addition, the developed algorithm was applied to the matched field processing with ocean experimental data for verification. The sea-going data and simulation showed almost 3 dB improvement in the output power at the foci when the array elements were optimally distributed.

In recent researches on thread partitioning algorithms break a thread at the long latency operation and merge threads to get the longer threads under the given constraints. Due to this limitation, even a program with little parallelism is partitioned into small-sized threads and context-swithings occur frequently. In the paper, we propose another method array localization about the array name, dependence distance(the difference of accessed element index from loop index), and the element usage that indicates whether element is used or defined. Using this information we can allocate array elements to the node where the corresponding loop activation is executed. By array localization, remote accesses to array elements can be replaced with local accesses to localized array elements. As a resuit, the boundaries of some threads are removed, programs can be partitioned into the larger threads and the number of context switchings reduced.
Two types of ozone monitors using UV absorption method were tried in consideration of cost of the monitor and precision in measuring. The high concentration ozone monitor for high concentration real time ozone monitoring from ozone generator was composed of a low pressure mercury lamp as UV source, a photo multiplier tube as UV detector and signal processing unit for the most part. This structure could be very useful for low price high concentration ozone monitor due to simple system structure and fairly good monitoring characteristics. The developed system showed good linear output characteristics to ozone in the measuring concentration range of 0.05 and 2 wt.%. For accuracy ambient ozone monitoring in ambient in ppm level, the system composed of a high power pulsed xenon lamp as UV source, an optical spectrometer with a high sensitivity linear CCD array as UV detector and signal processing unit in brief speaking was proposed our study for the first time in the world. The developed system showed good linearity and sensitivity in relative low measuring range between 10ppm and 10,000ppm, and showed some feasibility of high resolution ozone monitor using CCD array as photodetector.

To visualize sound field or to identify noise sources, we can use many methods such as intensity method, acoustic holographic method, source identification method using line array, etc. Conventionally all these methods are performed with the assumption of stationary condition in space and time. But for moving source, spatial characteristics and frequency components are changing, so we need another processing algorithm. This paper shows some experimental results - sound field by moving noise sources. In the experiment cross type microphone line array is used for sensing pressure and cars and a motorcycle are used as moving sources that are assumed to have constant speed. The processing methods are acoustic holographic method, spherical beamforming and spectrogram.
