Modelling Pasture-based Automatic Milking System Herds: System Fitness of Grazeable Home-grown Forages, Land Areas and Walking Distances

  • To maintain a predominantly pasture-based system, the large herd milked by automatic milking rotary would be required to walk significant distances. Walking distances of greater than 1-km are associated with an increased incidence of undesirably long milking intervals and reduced milk yield. Complementary forages can be incorporated into pasture-based systems to lift total home grown feed in a given area, thus potentially 'concentrating' feed closer to the dairy. The aim of this modelling study was to investigate the total land area required and associated walking distance for large automatic milking system (AMS) herds when incorporating complementary forage rotations (CFR) into the system. Thirty-six scenarios consisting of 3 AMS herds (400, 600, 800 cows), 2 levels of pasture utilisation (current AMS utilisation of 15.0 t dry matter [DM]/ha, termed as moderate; optimum pasture utilisation of 19.7 t DM/ha, termed as high) and 6 rates of replacement of each of these pastures by grazeable CFR (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%) were investigated. Results showed that AMS cows were required to walk greater than 1-km when the farm area was greater than 86 ha. Insufficient pasture could be produced within a 1 km distance (i.e. 86 ha land) with home-grown feed (HGF) providing 43%, 29%, and 22% of the metabolisable energy (ME) required by 400, 600, and 800 cows, respectively from pastures. Introduction of pasture (moderate): CFR in AMS at a ratio of 80:20 can feed a 400 cow AMS herd, and can supply 42% and 31% of the ME requirements for 600 and 800 cows, respectively with pasture (moderate): CFR at 50:50 levels. In contrast to moderate pasture, 400 cows can be managed on high pasture utilisation (provided 57% of the total ME requirements). However, similar to the scenarios conducted with moderate pasture, there was insufficient feed produced within 1-km distance of the dairy for 600 or 800 cows. An 800 cow herd required 140 and 130 ha on moderate and high pasture-based AMS system, respectively with the introduction of pasture: CFR at a ratio of 50:50. Given the impact of increasing land area past 86 ha on walking distance, cow numbers could be increased by purchasing feed from off the milking platform and/or using the land outside 1-km distance for conserved feed. However, this warrants further investigations into risk analyses of different management options including development of an innovative system to manage large herds in an AMS farming system.

  • In this study, SCP method was used by purpose to improve loose sand and soft clay that is drilled Sand Compaction Pile in underground. Settlement behavior of field analyzed through SCP method. When sand Compaction Pile drilled in clay, forming composite ground that foundation and Sand Compaction Pile behavior. According to SCP method can expect bearing capacity improvement, Settlement reduction, lateral flow protection. SCP increase the consolidation settlement of ground and it reduce settlement for that purpose increase liquefaction resistance, lateral Resistance. Because SCP had been widely used for sand. Area of Inchon-A by sand compose clay and silt to upper Ground and compose soft clay to under ground. After pre-loading, it measured settlement by extensometer and settlement extensometer that purpose of ground improvement with 13% in replacement ratio. The result analyzed settlement behavior is similar to Multi-layered Ground that it happened to elastic settlement at upper ground and to consolidation settlement at under ground.

조립토 군말뚝의 극한지지력 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Estimation of Ultimate Bearing Capacity of Granular Group Piles)

  • 본 연구에서는, 조립토 단말뚝에 대한 지배적인 파괴형태를 구분짓는 한계깊이 즉, 팽창파괴 중 심부까지의 깊이에 대한 정량적 예측기법을 우선 제시하고, 또한 강성매트기초 하부에 정방형 군형태로 설치되는 조립토 말뚝에 대해, 1) 상부재하하중에 대한 기초지반의 하중분담 봉과를 고려하고, 원추형상의 모델링 및 원지반의 치환율 등을 근거로 각 말뚝의 팽창파괴 중심부까지의 깊이를 결정하기 위한 기법, 2) 인접 말뚝에 의한 훤지반와 치환효과가 고려된 합성탄성계수 개념을 토대로 조립토 말뚝에 의해 보강된 지반의 극한공동압을 평가하는 기법 등이 아울러 제시되었고, 최종 수행되었다.

SCP와 GCP의 압밀촉진효과에 관한 비교 고찰 (A Comparative Study on the Effect of Promoting Consolidation between SCP and GCP)

  • 본 논문에서는 연약지반개량을 위한 다짐말뚝공법들의 압밀촉진효과를 파악하기 위하여 일련의 실내모형실험을 실시하였다. 모형실험에서는 다짐말뚝의 재료로써 모래, 쇄석, 모래질 쇄석을 사용하여 치환율이 10%인 복합지반을 조성하였다. 각각의 복합지반에 하중을 재하 한 후 시간의 경과에 따른 침하량 및 점토부의 과잉간극수압 소산 거동을 관측하였으며 간극막힘 현상에 대한 검토를 위하여 압밀 종료 후 각각의 다짐말뚝에 대한 점토 혼입 양상을 관찰하였다. 실험 결과 쇄석다짐말뚝에 의한 침하저감효과와 압밀촉진효과가 가장 크게 나타났으며 압밀 종료 후 세 가지의 다짐말뚝 모두 점토의 혼입 양상은 관측되지 않았다.

  • 해안지역에서 토류구조물을 축조하는 동안에 직면하게 되는 문제점중의 하나는 연약점토지반의 안정화 대책이다. 본 연구는 성토제체 축조시 연약점토지반의 안정화를 위하여 시멘트 개량 말뚝으로 보강된 연약지반의 거동효과를 구명하고자 원심모형실험을 수행한 것으로 서로 다른 조건에 대해서 단계 하중하에서 시간에 따른 보강지반과 비보강지반의 침하와 융기거동을 고찰하였다. 실헙결과 지반의 수직침하감수 제방에 인접한 지표면의 융기감소는 개량말뚝의 강도, 점토의 함수비 그리고 특히 개량면적비에 크게 영향을 받는 것으로나타났다.

  • 근래 건설현장에서의 연약처리문제는 자주 대두되는 문제이며, 이러한 연약지반을 개량하기 위한 고압분사공법은 없어서는 아니될 필수적인 공법이지만 적용에 있어서 보강효과미흡, 지하수 및 지반오염문제 등 해결해야할 선결문제가 있다. MJM(Mortar Jet Method)공법은 주입재료로서 기존의 시멘트 외에 모래를 혼합하여 획기적 강도증대가 가능하며 3중관으로서, 슬라임 배출을 용이하게 하는 노즐을 부착시켜 치환율을 높여 전단면이 균질한 주상형고결체를 형성시킬 수 있고 특히, 해성점토 지반에서 기초말뚝으로서의 활용이 기대된다. 본 연구에서는 MJM공법의 실내 시험 및 현장시험시공을 통해 현장 적용성을 검토하였다.

Behavior of sand columns reinforced by vertical geotextile encasement and horizontal geotextile layers

  • In this paper, the effect of a group of sand columns in the loose soil bed using triaxial tests was studied. To investigate the effect of geotextile reinforcement type on the bearing capacity of these sand columns, Vertical encased sand columns (VESCs) and horizontally reinforced sand columns (HRSCs) were used. Number of sixteen independent triaxial tests and finite element simulation were performed on specimens with a diameter of 100 mm and a height of 200 mm. Specimens were reinforced by either a single sand column or three sand columns with the same area replacement ratio (16%) to evaluate the Influence of the column arrangement. Effect the number of sand columns, the length of vertical encasement and the number of horizontal reinforcing layers were investigated, in terms of bearing capacity improvement and economy. The results indicated that the ultimate bearing capacity of the samples with three ordinary sand columns (OSCs) is eventually about 11% more than samples with an OSC. Also, comparison of the column reinforcing modes showed that four horizontal layers of geotextile achieved similar performance to a vertical encasement geotextile at the 50% of the column height, from the viewpoint of strength improvement, while from the viewpoint of economy, the geotextile needed for encasing the single column is around 2.5 times of the geotextile required for four layers.

Numerical modelling of circular reinforced concrete columns confined with GFRP spirals using fracture-plastic model

  • Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) bar has emerged as a viable and sustainable replacement to steel in reinforced concrete (RC) under severe corrosive environment. The behavior of concrete columns reinforced with FRP bars, spirals, and hoops is an ongoing area of research. In this study, 3D nonlinear numerical modelling of circular concrete columns reinforced with Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars and transversely confined with GFRP spirals were conducted using fracture-plastic model. The numerical models and experimental results are found to be in good agreement. The effectiveness of confinement was accessed through von-mises stresses, and it was found that the stresses in the concrete's core are higher with a 30 mm pitch (46 MPa) compared to a 60 mm pitch (36 MPa). The validated models are used to conduct parametric studies. In terms of axial load carrying capacity and member ductility, the effect of concrete strength, spiral pitch, and longitudinal reinforcement ratio are thoroughly investigated. The confinement effect and member ductility of a GFRP RC column increases as the spiral pitch decreases. It is also found that the confinement effect and member ductility decreased with increase in strength of concrete.

SSD의 성능향상을 위한 접근빈도에 따른 데이터 할당 및 교체기법 (Data allocation and Replacement Method based on The Access Frequency for Improving The Performance of SSD)

  • SSD는 낸드 플래시 메모리의 배열로 구성되어 있기 때문에 하드 디스크와는 달리 블록 당 쓰기 가능 횟수가 정해져 있고, 덮어쓰기가 불가능 하다는 특성을 가지고 있다. 이와 같이 기존의 하드 디스크와는 다른 특징을 갖는 SSD를 효과적으로 관리하기 위해 FTL을 이용한다. FTL은 맵핑 방식에 따라 페이지, 블록, 로그 블록 맵핑 방식으로 구분하는데, 그 중 로그 블록 맵핑 방식 기법 중 BAST와 FAST는 합병 연산 시 페이지 복사와 삭제 연산이 많이 발생하여 SSD의 성능이 떨어지는 문제를 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이를 해결하기 위하여 SSD 내부에 PRAM을 접근빈도 체크영역 및 로그 블록과 Hot 데이터를 저장하는 영역으로 할당하여 접근빈도에 따라 데이터를 할당하는 기법 및 교체기법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 접근빈도에 따라 Cold 데이터는 플래시 메모리에 할당하며 덮어쓰기가 가능한 PRAM에 로그 블록과 접근 빈도가 높은 데이터를 할당함으로써, 합병 연산 및 삭제 연산을 줄여 SSD의 성능과 수명을 향상시킬 수 있다. 또한 용량의 한계가 있는 PRAM의 활용률을 높이기 위해 데이터 교체 방법을 사용한다. 실험결과 삭제연산의 경우 제안한 방법이 BAST에 비해 약 46%정도 FAST에 비해 약 38%정도 횟수가 감소되었고, 쓰기 성능의 경우 각각 기존 BAST, FAST에 비해 34%, 19%의 성능이 향상되었고, 읽기 성능 역시 각각 5%, 3%의 성능 향상을 보였다.

Hypoalbuminemia and Albumin Replacement during Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation in Patients with Cardiogenic Shock

  • Background: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has been widely used in patients with cardiorespiratory failure. The serum albumin level is an important prognostic marker in critically ill patients. We evaluated the efficacy of using pre-ECMO serum albumin levels to predict 30-day mortality in patients with cardiogenic shock (CS) who underwent venoarterial (VA) ECMO. Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 114 adult patients who underwent VA-ECMO between March 2021 and September 2022. The patients were divided into survivors and non-survivors. Clinical data before and during ECMO were compared. Results: Patients' mean age was 67.8±13.6 years, and 36 (31.6%) were female. The proportion of survival to discharge was 48.6% (n=56). Cox regression analysis showed that the pre-ECMO albumin level independently predicted 30-day mortality (hazard ratio, 0.25; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.11-0.59; p=0.002). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of albumin levels (pre-ECMO) was 0.73 (standard error [SE], 0.05; 95% CI, 0.63-0.81; p<0.001; cut-off value=3.4 g/dL). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the cumulative 30-day mortality was significantly higher in patients with a pre-ECMO albumin level ≤3.4 g/dL than in those with a level >3.4 g/dL (68.9% vs. 23.8%, p<0.001). As the adjusted amount of albumin infused increased, the possibility of 30-day mortality also increased (coefficient=0.140; SE, 0.037; p<0.001). Conclusion: Hypoalbuminemia during ECMO was associated with higher mortality, even with higher amounts of albumin replacement, in patients with CS who underwent VA-ECMO. Further studies are needed to predict the timing of albumin replacement during ECMO.
