  • Lots of cultures, memories, histories of the local life have disappeared. Some sectors of universities and religion have keep their records in manuscript archive only. On the other hand records of public sectors were at least able to be managed by the records management law. Citizen's groups and academic bounds were also roles to get public records strong. However can we just describe whole body with only public records? As records management law a record of private sector which has value of preserving can be managed under national protection. Yet establishment of local archive is not obligate. Only stressing on public records is like what dictatorial government acted in past years. It is what we ignore diversity and request of community. We need to move our view that we have focused on public and central sectors to private and local sectors. Local records management based on locality could help to complete the entire puzzle. The way complete the puzzle is various and wide spheres including from cultural space to being extinct village. Locality is defined as the property in certain area or distinctiveness of locals. Establishing production strategies is as important as collecting records produced over the past years for local archiving. Local archiving has to be regionally conducted in phase. Moreover common wealth and recognition of communities are reflected in the acquisition process. In next to archiving local organizations and private records according to collection policy, methodology on local archiving needs for archive management and use in various public and private fields. This methodology could be possible by building a local archive networking tool. It is true that Local archiving is not familiar and clear yet. If we can turn the effort for public records we have made to endeavor for private sectors, we might expect big fruits in private sectors. We easily emphasis on globalization or internationalization, our daily lives start on our villages. Setting aside our small communities, such a puzzle of the whole would never be completed. This is good time to begin finding lost puzzle for future. The key that can find lost puzzles be held in archiving localities.

  • In this paper, we present a result of our study on how to construct a pilot MPACS (medical hic lure archiving and communication System) based on X -Window system. The proposed MPACS Is composed of image acquisition units, image archiving and processing units, display units, and all units are Interfaced with a LAN The image management is done according to the TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) , and the dis- play system is built upon generally accepted software packages, namely the X -Window system. Also, lossless and lossy digital image compression methods were implemented and tested with X -ray and CT images.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate current status of archiving activities related to producing, collecting and managing information resources of multicultural agencies and organizations in Dae Gu. To do this, 12 agencies and organizations including Multicultural Team of Dae Gu, multicultural family support centers, foreign worker support center, NGOs for immigrants and public libraries were visited. As a result, these agencies and organizations have struggled for producing information resources through online and off-line, collecting information resources from external bodies and managing information resources like official documents, counseling reports, multicultural books and artifacts. But there were problems in archiving information resources. In order to solve problems, first, multicultural agencies and organizations should reinforce responsibilities to produce, collect and manage information resources. Second, public libraries should actively try to collect and organize information resources from these agencies and organizations. Finally, cooperative archiving activities between multicultural agencies and organizations and public libraries are needed.

Public web records means the result of business process over web sites in public institutions. Although there is much valuable information, it is vanished away easily because there is not yet proper methods and tools for preservation. The purpose of this paper is to design the metadata elements required when archiving deep web records, which is a kind of web records. For that, we first analyze oversea's related researches to define what public deep web records is. Then we define metadata elements about that and also explain the relationship on archival information package in Korea and dublin core metadata to support interoperability for them. • Recently, industrial heritages have been transformed into cultural facilities in the wake of urban Regeneration. This focus is mainly on appearance, and the explanation is often abbreviated as a master narrative, and the placeness is not sufficiently inherited. The placeness of industrial heritage contains not only historical but also personal memories. Place memory must be collected and managed in order for the placeness that can be the source of identity to be preserved and utilized. To this end, this study suggested collecting place memories based on personal life histories. Using the case of collecting Andong Station and Cheongju Tobacco Factory, the life narrative was broken down into an event and the process of reinterpreting it as a place memory was proposed to implement archiving of industrial heritage sites. This methodology means that it can be supplemented rather than replaced.

  • It is widely agreed that a documentation strategy that considers the social context of fragmented records is needed for documentation of social memories. This paper examined a new methodology named Seoul Narrative Archiving Policy(S-NAP) which was developed for the documentation of social memories in metropolitan areas. Also, the paper reviewed the applicability of S-NAP through the collection cases of Seoul Metropolitan Archives. The development process of the S-NAP is as follows. First, acquisition topic domains that cover an entire metropolitan region were developed. Next, implementation units(S-NAP) were designed through extensive data analysis that encompasses social, economic, culture, and art areas and reflects outcomes of regional studies. As a result, a total of nine acquisition topic domains, 61 parents S-NAP, and 184 children S-NAP were derived from the aforementioned methodology and methods. Finally, this paper proposed the applicability of S-NAP as archival contents and as a supportive tool for archival activity networks.

  • Twenty years after the Records Managemen Act was first enacted, the archiving environment has changed a lot. The advent of the electronic records environment, the importance of presidential records management, and the importance of managing private records have been a direct background to the 2006 revision of the Records Management Act. The field of electronic records management and the field of presidential records management have challenges and limitations, but have been steadily developing. However, in the private sector, archiving has not changed significantly compared to the voluntary activity. Now the maeul-community is calling for a response from the records management community. A society develops when the private and public sectors cooperate with each other and form healthy check-ups. In the archiving field, it must also become active through cooperation.

  • Throughout the 70 years of division, cultural heterogeneity between the two Koreas is accelerating. Under these circumstances, the archive of the everyday life of North Koreans could contribute to understanding the North. Here, everyday life is defined as social space where various practices and actions of individuals intersect with the social structure including institutions, social control, norms, and order. The purpose of the study is to apply this concept of everyday life to design an archive-building model rich in evidence and memories of everyday life in North Korea. To this end, a methodology that takes into account the characteristics of everyday life is needed, which is called 'cultural archiving'. By applying the 'cultural archiving' methodology, a model that includes the principles and procedures for building everyday life archives in North Korea is proposed. This also investigates how each building process could be applied through actual example(a database of life, culture, and history in North Korea). In addition, the actual case ("Database of Living History and Culture in North Korea for the Foundation of Unified Korea") is investigated as to how each construction procedure could be applied.

  • Electronic record types are becoming diverse, and "composite electronic records," which are made up of various types of electronic records associated with functionality or user interaction that does not exist in current electronic document formats, are increasing. To ensure a continuous access to composite electronic records, metadata construction is a prerequisite for electronic records archiving. In this paper, we propose a metadata that can support archiving of composite electronic records associated with interactive functionality. The common elements were derived from an analysis of both domestic and international file format registry projects, and metadata elements related to functional requirements were identified from the analysis of the records on nursing education e-learning contents. We proposed the metadata elements for archiving composite electronic records, which consist of 25 high-level elements and 138 subelements.
