Submarine pressure hulls must withstand high hydraulic pressure and be free of defects. To improve the precision of defect detection, we herein examined different probes for optimal defect assessment by applying the Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) method. Two sets of probe design parameters were selected by considering pressure hull characteristics and analyzed through modeling. PAUT probes were applied, and defect assessment results were compared based on ultrasonic signals of various simulated defects in specimens designed to be the same as actual pressure hulls. The final selected design parameters for the submarine probe, which were designed to minimize the grating lobe of wave interference effect and improve the ultrasonic resolution of pressure hull welds, were identified through the experiment. The improvement in the probe's ability to detect defects in a pressure hull was verified. Furthermore, the accuracy of defect length measurement was improved, enhancing the applicability of the technique.

A series of detailed study was performed to identify the sources of the propeller blade failure and resolve the problem systematically, by use of the theoretical tools and by the direct measurement and observation in the full-scale sea trials. The selection of inexperienced propulsion control system with a reversible gear system is shown to cause the serious damage to the propeller blades in crash astern maneuver, when the rotational direction of the propeller is changed rapidly. Quasi-steady analysis for propeller blade strength using FEM code in bollard backing condition indicates that the safety factor should be order of 18∼20 to avoid the structural failure for the selected propeller geometry and reduction gear system.

Software Architecture for any given software system is its skeletal framework. That is to say that if this framework does not properly support the system then it would cause more harm than good. Accordingly it is our opinion that choosing the right architecture to realize this framework is a crucial part in creating a successful system. This report discusses a comparative method which utilizes the steps in ATAM to realize architectural decisions and more importantly aide in architectural selection that promotes system success.

For the large-sized and post-ultra definition TFT-LCD, improved drivability is prerequisite not only for the integration of driving circuit on glass but also for the chargeability of each pixel. In order to meet required drivability, currently adopted process architecture and materials are modified for the RC delay reduction, including the drastic increase of gate bus thickness and its related solution for step coverage. We present new process architecture and material selection for the next generation TFT-LCD devices.

Environment friendly architecture, which will reduce shortcomings of current architectural culture, can be achieved by using natural energy and environment friendly building materials together with their environmental architecture techniques. Particularly, even though the overall building system is perfect, it cannot be considered as comfortable architectural space if the materials are polluted, harmful to human bodies and producing wastes. Therefore, in order to build environment friendly architecture, the selection of the materials is very important and necessary from the planning stage with careful reviews and concern. This study tries to define what the environment friendly materials we, to investigate and to classify them, in order to provide some guidelines for selecting them at plans to build. For examples, the materials can be classified into natural materials, continuously usable materials, recycled materials from wastes, and less polluting materials mixed with natural materials. Finally, this study reviews the existing products in the market and proposes to develop new ones in the future. It will present the circulation of resources in the 21century through recycled and reused materials.

본 논문은 소프트 CPU 기반의 소형 전장품 설계 및 개발에 대한 것을 다루고 있다. 소프트 CPU는 소프트웨어를 이용한 로직 합성을 통해서 FPGA 내부에 구성되는 마이크로 프로세서이다. 소형 전장품 개발을 위해 소프트 CPU중 Nios-II 프로세서를 적용하여 다양하고, 다시 구성할구 있고, 다시 조립 가능한 하부 모듈로 설계하고 개발하였다. 모듈 구조로 구성하기 위해서 메인 보드와 하부 보드 모두 전원과 데이터 버스가 공통으로 사용할 수 있도록 구성하였고, 선택적으로 사용할 수 있도록 하였다.

It is important to select an accurate set of ground motions when conducting linear and nonlinear response history analyses of structures. This study proposes a method for selecting ground motions from a ground motion library with response spectra that match the target response spectrum mean, variance and correlation structures. This study also has addressed the determination of an appropriate value for the weight factor of a correlation structure. The proposed method is conceptually simple and straightforward, and does not involve a simulation algorithm. In this method, a desired number of ground motions are sequentially selected from first to last. The proposed method can be also used for selecting ground motions with response spectra that match the conditional spectrum. The accuracy and efficiency of the proposed procedure are verified with numerical examples.

To make the beautiful rural landscapes, the Samcheok city of provincial governments is implementing the authentication system about rural landscape housing as one of various landscape policies. This authentication system about the landscape housing is to select the better rural landscape houses to harmonize with surrounding ground plots, ground shapes, villages, mountains and natural environments of landscape houses submitted by house owner every year. This research aims to analyze the architectural features of the authenticated rural landscape houses and to propose the improvement directions by analyzing architectural features about the rural landscape houses selected by the municipal architecture committee of Samcheok city.

Beijing Chuan Di Xia can be traced back to Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is located beside the old post way in the west of Beijing. At present, there are more than seventy units of traditional courtyard houses of Ming and Qing Dynasties and the antique features of the surroundings still survive. The dwelling suited to the historical and regional context and the profound cultural values accumulations etc., have precious historic and cultural values. Associated with the investigation of Chuan Di Xia, the paper explores the site selection, the layout, the spatial constructiveness and the underlying consciousness of Chinese traditional dwellings, unveils the common philosophic basis of traditional dwellings and offers new though for sustainable human settlements.
