  • Voltage variation caused by large loads such as arc furnace and large motors, which use the large and instantaneous currents, can cause the voltage flicker. The flicker irritates the human's eyes and also has an adverse effect on protection device, rotating machine and electronic device etc, therefore the flicker needs to be managed effectively. Recently, the Korea power quality standard has been established on the IEC standards. This paper presents the flicker management standard for distribution power system and suggests the flicker transfer coefficients for Korea power system based on the IEC 61000-3-7.

  • Electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding characteristics of composite filled with Cu flake and carbon brush powder as hybrid conductive filler and EAF slag have been studied. The coaxial transmission line method of ASTM D4935-99 was used to measure the EMI Shielding effectiveness of composites as formulation in frequency rage $100\~1,000MHz$ The SE also increases with the increase in flier loading. The hybrid filler filled composites show higher SE compared to that of only Cu flake. The correlation between SE and conductivity of the various composites is also discussed. The results indicate that the composites having higher filler loading$({\geq}40wt.\%)$ can be used for the purpose of safety materials to protect hazardous electromagnetic interference.

  • This shdy was invcsligated on reduction rate of EAF dust wth solid carbon cantents. The rate equation for reduction ofEAF dust was obtaincd in the tempcrahlrc range cot 910-108O"C, and the ratio of zinc removal and metallization raho of ironoxides to thc reaction time was also analysed. From the XRD analysis for slag residues '||'&'||'er reaction, the cxistcncc DI themixture of Akemmite[Ca2MgSi2O.] and SiO, was identified.ed.

  • This paper proposed the technique of the fault-types classification using Adaptive Network Fuzzy Inference System in the distribution system. Fault and fault-like data in the linear RL load, arc furnace load and converter load were extracted by EMTP. These were characterized into 5 input variables and fuzzified automatically by learning. This technique was tested using another fault data unused learning.

  • In this study, corrosion behaviors of Ti-xNb alloys for biomaterials. The Ti-xNb binary alloys contained from 10 wt. % to 50 wt. % contents were manufactured by vacuum arc-melting furnace. Microstructures of the alloys were examined by optical microscope (OM) and field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). In order to identify the phase constitutents of the Ti-xNb alloys, X-ray diffractometer (XRD) with a Cu K radiation was used. The corrosion behaviors were investigated using potentiostat (Model2273,EG & GCo, USA) in NaCl solution at $(36.6{\pm}1.0)^{\circ}C$.

  • In this study, we investigated mechanical properties and surface characteristics of Ti-25Ta-xHf alloys. The samples were manufactured for composition of Ti-25Ta-xHf(x=0 to 15 wt. %) alloys. Each alloy was melted twenty times in an arc-melting vacuum furnace. The microstructural phases and phase transformation of Ti-25Ta-xHf alloys were identified with the aid of an XRF, XRD and DSC. And mechanical properties were investigated using Vickers hardness, nanoindentation, and tensile test.

  • High temperature arc plasma technologies are recently being developed in Europe, Japan and United States as one or the treatment schemes of municipal wastes, industrial wastes and vitrification of low level radioactive wastes. An experimental plasma melting furnace, a transferred type plasma torch and 100kW class power supply have been made. Operation of this system and some basic experimental results for solid wastes treatment are reported.
