  • In this paper, we propose the approximate maximum likelihood estimators (AMLE) of the location and the scale parameter of the singly left truncated normal distribution. We compare the proposed estimators with the simpler estimators (SE) in terms of the mean squared error (MSE) through Monte Carlo methods.

  • When the available sample is multiply Type-II censored, the maximum likelihood estimators of the location and the scale parameters of two-parameter exponential distribution do not admit explicitly. In this case, we propose some approximate maximum likelihood estimators by approximating the likelihood equations appropriately. We present an example to illustrate these estimation methods.

  • We introduce an approximate fuzzy clustering method, which is simple but computationally efficient, based on density functions in this paper. The density functions are defined by the number of data within the predetermined interval. Numerical examples are presented to show the validity of the proposed clustering method.
